During the 1960s this was my grandpa’s drive whenever we went to Shea Stadium in Queens, NY and also to go to La Guardia Airport whenever we had to catch a flight from our house in Jamaica Estates or when we flew back to NY from Miami Beach. The exit to my home was Utopia Pkwy. My exit of Utopia Pkwy was at 7:39 minutes into the video. I watched carefully and recognized it.

I’m a new follower, and I love these videos! I’m still too young to make enough money for NY/NJ-level tolls (lol), so this is really the only way for me to experience most of these expressways. Keep it coming!!

In order to get to NJ tolless, if you’re on Long Island, go to I-495 and get of on the very last westbound exit: Exit 15- Van Dam St. & head north to the Ed Koch Queensboro Bridge. Then head right onto either 3rd Ave., Park Ave., or Madison Ave. then just head north to any of the 3 bridges to The Bronx (IDK which has tolls or not, but check to be sure. Then get on the I-87/Major Deegan Expy. Exit off onto Exit 7 for I-95/Cross Bronx/Trans-Manhattan Expys. Cross over the Washington Bridge, & then from there, take NJ-4 or I-80. There. NY-NJ tolless. Approx. time: ambiguous due to 1000’s of locations.

@Jim Allen let’s hope they’re all free. I just said those 3 because of the convenience & availability.

@Jim Allen yeah, but you’d have to do a huge painful U-turn to even get to the FDR Pkwy. Rather than going straight, the. Right, then Bridge.

I was gonna ask if youre gonna do the GCP, Mike.
the Interchange at @5:43 is like 95% finished, and work started in 2015. And they finished building LaGuardia Airport around the GCP this year, started in 2017
    Great timing!

TRUCKERS: USE EXPRESSWAYS!! NOT PARKWAYS!!! IT’S THE LAW!!!
T.S.A. to everyone. At the RFK Bridge, I-278 literally junctions with a Parkway. One no Commercial vehicles should be on but I-278 exists, so there’s that exception. What’s even worse is that GRAND CENTRAL PARKWAY CAN accommodate Commercial Traffic. But due to the NO COMMERCIAL VEHICLES/PASSENGER CARS ONLY rules. This parkway is just one big tease to Truckers and commercial vehicles alike. All the way for the I-278/GCP JCT. to Exit 25 of the NSP, Commercial Traffic can easily fit though the bridges. However, since NY purposely signs the Hights of the bridges wrong by about 5-8” lower than their actual hight, this is what confuses drivers about this. Also this portion of NSP can obviously handle & accommodate Commercial Traffic. But nope. NY basically said to all of yous’e Commercial Drivers to go fuck yourselves. Great video though.
