FAMU has ALWAYS played everything Clean and crisp. Probably the most MUSICALLY talented Marching Band in all of the HBCU's. Anyone can take music and crank it but it takes discipline for a band this size to play with such accuracy.
Yeah, I know all about the different styles of marching. My freshman and sophomore years I had a band director that marched snare at auburn and my junior and senior years, I had a band director that marched tenors for FAMU. So I was lucky enough to have the best of both worlds.
Thank You all for the Comments its good see what people think about my arrangements... Thank You for your honesty! -Chandler L. Wilson, FAMU Band President, Student Arranger and Conductor It was somewhat an answer to TSU but I put that in there specially for them!
never will understand how famu keeps all those band members in tune like that. so many members but have such good control and they dont blast EVERY song they play. tho i have to admit after lookin at it a couple times i wish the trombones in the back werent the only ones movin, lol
Im always Impressed wit FAMU band my moms went there back in the 80's Ima 80's baby I was born in the dirty dirty thas why Im crazy a str8 up florida boi foreal.
there are alot of "good" bands out there... but bands that are "consistent" year in and year out other than FAMU... in my opinion... is tennessee state, southern, jackson state and bethune-cookman. Im sure there are others, but being "good' and being "consistent" are two different things. Anyone can be "good" for one or two years... but it takes more than being "good" for a few years to be the creme of the crop
@hhorns2002 agree with you on that one. I get tired of hearing about who plays loudest. Some people I guess do not know the difference between sound and noise. I have been a fan of the 100 since 89 when I saw them for the first time. I am a long time musician and love the quality, not the quantity of a piece. I can say there is no one in the SWAC I can say would musically or could hold a candle to the way they play REAL MUSIC!!!
SouthWest DeKalb from atlanta,ga Remind me so much of FAMU band the size and everything i go to alot of SWD football games and when they band play i see FAMu in the movement and everything
Thats not the the type arrangement I'm used to hearing. but I understand and respect FAMU's approciate play a song with true quality and precision without sounding a mess. That was aight.
WAR EAGLE!!!! Yeah, it would have been amazing if Auburn could have gotten FAMU scheduled to play them. Florida was lucky enough. You should go look up the videos from that game. FAMU tore it up!!!
in this video... there is about 210 members... 64 of which are brass players excluding the tubas. From the past 2008 season, the "100" had about 420 members.
however, i challenge you to type in "FAMU WIND ENSEMBLE" in the search box and you can see and hear what we strive for here in everything we do... including the marching band. We strive for musicality in everything we do and we wont trade in musicality for a "louder" sound.
There is more to a band than volume. The 100 has a different sound concept than most bands. The 100 goal is to play with good intonation, blend & balance w/ each instruement supporting each other not about how "loud" one can be. Secondly, unlike most swac bands, the 100 isnt mostly brass. Yes, we have alot of brass, but its evened out with our woodwinds. Bigger brass=bigger sound. But if u go 2 a game (not youtube) and stand in front of the 100, you will see just how POWERFUL the 100 really is.
Yeah I agree, if you have a swac band with meac size then you would have something serious to contend with...meac have nice field shows but swac is deadly in the stands !!!!
@tubaboy2011 dude...just because they don't doesn't mean they don't have the capacity to...if FAMU ever play to the max each band you mentioned sitting across from them would pack up and go home...that's just not their style, goal, or the way they design their program...with a 400 piece band you simply don't have a bust a blood vessel to make a impact. thanks
They arent loud? Compared to who? These guys have a nice CLEAN sound. Lets give credit where its due. People on here always hatin on a FAMU, BCU, Norfolk etc. at least we are represented "The negativity must cease"
I know I'm from a smaller band in the SWAC but just one time I wanna see FAMU CRANK like their size. I love the musicianship but the jerk in me wants them to simply open up completely on someone. Love the arrangement.
it sound like James bond at the end because the marching 100 was making fun of TnSU and if you have been around the HBCU bands then you would know one of TnSU main songs is the James Bond song
I thought the College Band experience taught elements of personal growth and maturity that could be seen the world over. Not the same as the vernacular displayed here right?
...REALLY!!!! desoto is one of the best a 40yr plus legacy.....never lost a compition before marching or music so check before you say stuff like that desoto is the best

What a sound in large numbers.

if FAMU was a SWAC band man oh man nighas would be in trouble!
Thats not the the type arrangement I'm used to hearing. but I understand and respect FAMU's approciate play a song with true quality and precision without sounding a mess. That was aight.
In fact it is the James Bond music reason being was to poke fun at Tenn St. Because that is one of their major songs that they are known for.
I love this band.
My high school band plays this! :)
WAR EAGLE!!!! Yeah, it would have been amazing if Auburn could have gotten FAMU scheduled to play them. Florida was lucky enough. You should go look up the videos from that game. FAMU tore it up!!!
MY FAVORITE SONG...
if FAMU cranked like most otha HBCU bands they wuld be loud, P O W E R F U L L, and nearlyy untouchable ..
Yeah, it was pretty cool. I love both styles of marching and playing.
we play loud but we sound good and we march almost flawlessly with a few freshman who just flat out suck but what do expect from a freshman
nothing about Tuskegee's band should be mentioned in the same sentence as FAMU....period! End of discussion
I was going to say that lol. Beautiful. :0
i like how they played TxSU song at the end
that shit is the jam
the lil 007 song. .
i like the transition
perfect job :)

Nostalgia!
Im feelin this arrangement
Keep proving me right!
yea their band is off the chain...I was in RIMS camp and got to sit in on some of the summer band camp
And this is what separates a winner from a "Champion"

DeejayMC25 false
its all about the MEAC!!! 101 4 eva!
AMEN TOO THAT!!!!
Yes this was at Phillips like it is every year
SWEET!

DANG, they take up 1/2 the field!!!
lol, finnaly. Someone who plays it the right way!!!! That tuba part has to be right on or the song is ruined.
Okay it's different. F Minor im feelin this
@tubaboy2011 Blending and Blasting are two different things, my friend!
it does. some bands main goal is 2 be loud. some r to jux sound good
i like how they incorporated the JAMES BOND theme in there
yes
They arent loud? Compared to who? These guys have a nice CLEAN sound. Lets give credit where its due. People on here always hatin on a FAMU, BCU, Norfolk etc. at least we are represented

for a band this size they can control thier sound very well
yall would would have to be there to get it famu comes across on tape soft but in person as i have wittnessed you will get drowned out by there sound
damn......yall killed it in a good way! man desoto high school in texas will beast on this song but not this...were also alot smaller
clearly its a medley of the two its called creativity
not only do they use dynamics they dont allow the drums to over shadow the band, even though drums control tempo they can also drown any instrument.
yea this is nice
I LOVE this band! I'm coming out of high school (class of 2016) and I want to go to FAMU. Does anyone know which campus this is?
love it love the mix. very creative, but kan u blame them? its the hundred for kryin out loud
First comment in 3 years?
dIS JNK IZ FIRE
way to listen the real song and write it accordingly. The only other band i know that does this is TSU. Balance is the key. GO tSU.
yep
it sound like James bond at the end because the marching 100 was making fun of TnSU and if you have been around the HBCU bands then you would know one of TnSU main songs is the James Bond song
yo some1 put dat real juvie up
wow can someone tell me the tuba notes for this song!? this is great
It’s literally js f
i agree with the college being better than middle school but there are some middle school bands that are better than high school bands
more than likely
I thought the College Band experience taught elements of personal growth and maturity that could be seen the world over. Not the same as the vernacular displayed here right?
i need the music for this song like bad
lol at jwhakins, a band FAMUs size just blowin like SU or JSU does would be loud as a mother
y do dey sound little but dey so big
FAM FAM U U baby i want this power tommrow at the MEAC vs. SWAC game yall better blow the holly hell out of S who S who
Yeah because famu is more musical than blastin. But think if famu did decide to blast like mbc it would be ovver.
...REALLY!!!! desoto is one of the best a 40yr plus legacy.....never lost a compition before marching or music so check before you say stuff like that desoto is the best
was this an answer to when tenn. played that james bond stuff?
lol he only says this because hes never heard them in person...once you hear them in person you gonna wanna delete everything you just said
youve CLEARLY never heard them in real life because if you had you would not have said that
LOL!!
lol all the comments that complement FAMU are getting thumbed down and all that sat Tuskeegee get thumbs up
It is indeed a "Historically Black College University."
now i am not a famu fan by any means... but that was a dope ass arrangement...
Good or naaah
during a parade one day the announcer called them that because they had 97 players 2 drum majors and 1 director and they stuck to it
MajinXero false
At the end it sounded like James Bond music...
@tubaboy2011 Loud doesn't necessarily equate to nice sound!
should that matter.....
Why do they call FAMU the marching 100?? Someone please tell me.
Make sure yall play WAR even tho FAMu going to blow yall out LOL
ITs straight though just wish they would have beasted at the end of the song.they got enough ppl to blow dat sadium bout 400 Miles away.
i LOVE FAMU and This Arrangment . . . . .But Morris Brown's is Better I Still love thee 100 i was expecting a lil more
go saxes!! wat sax u play???
no actually FAMU never beast for real.If all of them were blowin its possible they could be louder than SU.but other that they sound good as hell
that field to small 4 them
so.... how many do they have in the band?
Freedom Middle School's version sounds way better
except's so short...
honestly, i dont care. my middle school got sum amateaurs on they horns. what school you goto anyway?
not as good as VSUs in the tunnel.. :D VSU all day baby!!
this sounds like james bond
This sounds good but I like Tuskegee's arrangement better
desoto. wtf. not tryna rib yall but dallas area skools dont really hav bands lik dhis
I like but they dont play it like or played like MBC
playing loud doesnt make you good. control and muscianship makes a good band. im guessing you were in high school when you wrote this
u in SU band?
