That "be kind, please rewind" sticker is likely an anti-theft tag, where if you walk through an exit, the sensors at the door will detect it and set off an alarm.
We used to stick them to coworkers as pranks. 😆

I have the Nintendo Power issue where they featured that Game Boy. Hell of a durable product (Nintendo's always been good at that).
I've used automotive brake clean on fire damaged pcb's with various success. If anything it removes most of the residue to make further cleaning easier and does not harm the pcb.

A magic eraser works well to take off soot like that using brite boy.
You may be able to clean the cartridge plastic with Brite Boy. Either that or buy replacement cases and stickers.

When Blue Marlin worked, I literally cheered! 😂 Two out of three isn’t bad, especially for flame-broiled NES carts.
