I remember when Inside Out came out I was the same age as Riley during the film and with basically the same core islands. Around that time I moved to a new school and was yearning for friends, but found it hard to connect. I felt like my islands were crashing down, but I tried to stay smiling. My parents too expected so much of me, especially to be their happy girl, so when Riley came crying home embracing the sadness she pushed down I related to that so much. The whole movie was just.... relatable.
I have a love/hate relationship with this video. Bing Bong should have been higher than Riley's first day of school, and no Monsters, Inc. Honestly, in trying to guess number 1, I guessed either Monsters, Inc. or UP.
My five: 1. CARL AND ELLIE - Up 2. Kitty? - Monsters Inc. 3. When She Loved Me - Toy Story 2 4. We've looked for you all this time - Finding Dory 5.Door shredding - Monsters Inc.
How about Monster Inc. when Sully must says goodbye to Boo, and when Boo open her wardrobe and he isn't there? Or when Mr. Fredicksen sees Ellie's words to him in her adventure book: "Thanks for the adventure, now go have one of your own." Or Finding Nemo opening scene? I think that one is more heartbreaking than Finding Dory reunion..
As a new parent, Inside Out hits every which way. I was young enough to relate to Riley just how you did, and was able to relate to the parents, and able to image what my sons will go through in ten years. I cried for about half the movie.
I know this is just my opinion, but I cried so hard at that scene in finding dory at the start of the film that when Dory said: "What if I forget you?"
What I like about Pixar movies is how the end is never what you expect. The toys don't go to college with Andy, spot doesn't get to stay with Arlo, carl doesn't live in South America as he planned, in ratatouille gusteau's restaurant is closed, but everything works out fine
that aspect of Pixar is just something we can relate in reality. We may only plan the best of what we want our lives to be but the course of time and situations may we face just doesn't allow us to do the exact thing that we planned. But in most cases, everything turns out fine
One of the 20 rules in Pixar when it comes to storytelling is "deal with the truth." Think about it. None of Pixar's movies have a cookie-cutter ending. Nothing goes "back to normal." Things are always changed, for better or worse. As much as Carl would've wanted to keep his house and live in South America, the truth is, it's not a healthy way for him to move on. As much as Bing Bong would've wanted to be with Riley again, the truth is, Riley needed him to make that sacrifice in order to be happy. Pixar movies show that just because things don't always work out the way you want, sometimes it's not so bad.
Up was the first and only movie that I have ever seen my dad cry about. He's a strong man when it comes to sadness yet, a movie meant for kids 6 and up managed to make him cry. So imagine 7 year old me sitting next to him... MORE TISSUES PLEASE!
Oh Coco oh Coco boiler warning if you don't want to if you seen the movie already you can proceed the poisoning that was just depressing and also in that guy died the second death that was also depressing
Nope, not a true sad moment, more a joyful/sad, like the movie actually portrait it. The Bing Bong moment was unexpected and actually a lot sadder. That, for me, is #2. With the UP scene being #1.
the combo, realizing that the good memories need to become sad memories, she coming home and just being open to her parents, so relatable and so emotional, so true to when we think about it.
Wow! #3, Riley coming home....being a mom myself, I cried my eyes out when I saw Inside Out! It reminded me of myself and my own struggles growing up and as a mom, it made me cry because I saw my daughter in it and I was hoping she will never have to experience what I've gone through in my life. I even cried just watching this video :p Thanks dude
I was about to head off to college for the first time when I saw Inside Out and I started crying so hard at the end because the idea of memories becoming bittersweet as your whole life changes resonated so much with me
That happened to me with Cars 3 because I had this red sports car that was 18 years old and getting beyond reasonable repair that I needed to sell, I go out of cars 3 just wrecked and I feel like a nut for crying so hard at a Cars movie but when you see a Pixar movie at just the right time it just hits you in the gut!
Aidan VanZile I literally thought that scene would be number one and I was a little surprised when it wasn't. But come on, Up is just one of those movies that pulls at you heart strings. You know?
****COCO SPOILERS**** * * * * * * * Can we add to the list the scene in Coco where Miguel thinks Hector is gone and is singing to Mama Coco and everyone on screen is crying? Or when Hector was remembering when he sung Remember Me to his daughter. I cried both times, just me?
SamDoesThings - No way dude, those scenes completely wrecked my spirit. I was on the verge of audibly sobbing in the movie theater when I first saw Coco.
Up is probably the best Pixar movie , it's sad , when Elle dies , but then at the end of the movie she makes it to Paradise Falls just like he promised , which makes u kinda happy
Yeah like the beginning where she passes away is sad but then at the end where she says she says sorry I can't remember but it's like now go have another adventure and you realize how much they truly loved each other I just lost it.
Wall-E was the only Pixar movie to make me cry, I think that moment when EVE is trying to get Wall-E's memory back is one really sad scene. Definitely should've been higher Up. Hahaha, get it?
I found Inside Out to be the saddest movie, after I first broke down I kept crying every 10 minutes on this movie, mainly because of what you said: Riley is a very relatable character, even more so for someone who has been through similar experiences at the exact same age. This movie just made me remember so much of my childhood.
Kayla T I kinda want a fourth just because it’s going to be about Woody and Bo Peep. Maybe we’ll even see Andy again. Wishful thinking, but I just still really love Toy Story
"#1 you all probably know this already" me: I do? I don't remember anythi- *Up scene plays with piano music* Me: *Eyes widen and heart stops for a few seconds* OMFG NO NO NO NO NO! JUST NO! 😭😭😭
Also, I think before Ellie's passing, the cut where Carl and Ellie find out they can't have kids. Her reaction and her sitting in the chair on the lawn? I. Just. Can't. But again, that's probably more of a mom thing. That scene is burned into my brain...Is there any more wine?
Yes! Same here! And same with Carl and Ellie finding out they couldn't have kids. As someone who lost my first (and was blessed to have 4 beautiful babies later on) this resonated with me in ways that ... that ... where are the tissues?
I was gonna say I didn't cry with any of these moments(except Bing Bong's death)but...when the top 1 saddest moment showed up,I automatically started crying
I've lost count of how many times I've watched this video - seriously, one of my favorite videos you guys have done. Also, I love the writing in this video. It's smart, funny and dynamic.
I am an 18 year old male... Just watching that two second clip in this video made me cry. Halp. It probably has something to do with the fact that i was struggling with depression when i first saw the film.. The incredible way they animated her crying just.. brings it all back like a knife to the chest.
Inside Out hit me hard. harder than any animated movie I've watched. because I was literally Riley in that point of my life. I cried the hardest when the emotion control console turned grey, wiping away any emotions she could feel. I've felt that apathy before because of my depression. where I had zero motivation, reasoning, or effort to do anything. It's a moment in my life where suicide didn't even cross my mind because I didn't _care_
They need to update this and make it longer to add in more Iconicly sad moments that they missed and newer ones ex the final remember me lullaby version or boo looking for sully
I have one sad Pixar moment that is the part of Cars where Lightning is forced to leave Radiator Springs. The reason that say this is because after watching him make friends and find romance, it all comes crashing down when you remember that he has to leave. What's so powerful about this moment is that he finally realized how it feels to have people who loved him less as fans, and more as friends. (Like this if you agree)
Not gonna lie, I cried during most of Finding Dory. The whole concept of her short-term memory loss is just so heartwrenching. And then just the line "What if I forget _you_?" just broke my heart. Even after the movie was over, after the post-credits scene, my face was still wet with tears.
Honestly I had started crying pretty much as soon as that second note of the song from Up played (that movie does me in every time, it's like Titanic), so I thought it was my tears making it all blurry. But then of course I tried to blink it away and it didn't work.
My number one moment is in Inside Out, and it starts where the emotions cant make Riley feel anything. I feel like that is the start of depression. And then by the time she gets back to her parents and cries out all of that held back emotion that she had was so emotional for me. I am an emotional person, so that scene really hit me in the feels.
Up is definitely number one. Bing Bong is number two. As soon as they failed on their second attempt, I started crying because I knew he was going to jump. When Riley is in the tree after she lost the game, that is number 3. My brother, who I have never seen cry, cried in Ratatouille.
it is if you really get into it. In hind-sight, though, I knew she'd have to go back to her world so maybe it shouldn't have been so bad. What REALLY hit me, though, was the part where Mike reveals he'd been working to repair the door the whole time and Sulley opens the door and you hear her say "Kitty" again. For what ever reason, a sad goodbye is made INFINATELY worse for me if they are reunited. idk. Like it's sad and i'm kinda tearing up or close to it, and then they're reunited and everything is magnified. Maybe i'm just weird, though....:/
They only played 8 seconds of the Up clip and yet it was enough to have tears going down my cheeks. I think also the fact that anyone who has ever seen Up would have entered this video just KNOWING that it would be number 1. Truly one of the most heartbreaking movie scenes I've ever witnessed.
It's one thing to lose someone completely and feel that grief. But I can't imagine the pain that comes from someone still technically being alive but the person you knew and loved is for all intents and purposes is gone. How anyone can emotionally deal with being a close loved one of an amnesia or Alzheimer's patient (or any other condition that would make someone lose their memories or personality) and the torture of being reminded daily by their presence is beyond me. That's why the Wall-E scene makes me lose it. Another scene that grabs me like this (though not Disney) is Kat's dad in Casper when he dies and comes back as a ghost. It's still him (albeit dead, but my point is he's THERE) but he doesn't even recognize her and acts like an inconsiderate clown, nothing like the dad she knew. Although this scene is played for laughs, Kat sees nothing funny about it. The juxtaposition of her tears against the backdrop of the dad and uncle ghosts' slapstick stupidity for some reason just rips my hearts out!
Because we've seen that scene a hundred times already, in other movies. "The Good Dinosaur"'s story really lacked originality. It was more like a CGI-demo.
For al the movies here I've seen, none of these moments felt particularly as sad as the monsters inc moment when they had to leave boo. Was very disappointed it didn't make the cut for top 10.
+R3df0x123 That's not how you use that. That's when something saves someone from out of nowhere ford no reason. Doris parents aren't because they went through the same pipe that they knew dory went through and camped there. It makes perfect sense.
Actually, the scene at the end of Up (when the house landed at paradise falls) is what really got me. Pure, sentimental poetry. God I genuinely love Pixar, regardless of how esteemed they are.
You missed a really big one. The Beginning Of Finding Nemo. Marlin loses his whole family. 😭 I watched it with my whole family, not a dry eye, and my mom said, "who starts a kids movie off like that?"
That scene screwed me up as a kid. I was 3 when I first saw the movie. And I still shake in fear when you first see Coral look petrified out into the ocean blue. Sometimes, I randomly think about Finding Nemo at night, then my mind IMMEDIATELY goes to that scene, and it always feels like something's behind me for the whole night.
The whole movie was just.... relatable.

I started to cry when I heard the sound of up
I have played this song but the rendition I had thankfully cut off before Ellie dies or else I would have 100% cried while performing the duet
yup lol
That Up music literally had me in tears.
My five:
1. CARL AND ELLIE - Up
2. Kitty? - Monsters Inc.
3. When She Loved Me - Toy Story 2
4. We've looked for you all this time - Finding Dory
5.Door shredding - Monsters Inc.

My mom cried watching the "Riley Coming Home" scene. Cuz Riley reminded her alot of me. Heck, we even look alike. That movie is amazing, man.
But ur a cat
Pixar is so good at telling a story about human nature in their own contexts. Up is just... it'll always be too soon.
Just wanna say that I LOVE your profile picture k thx
Inside Out is even better when you can relate to Riley.
Me: I will not cry. I will not cry. I will not cry
Up song: starts playing
Me: OH COME ON😭😭😭😭
That's Inside out theme for me
I know this is sad stuff, but "Onion-chopping shampoo hotsauce factory" made me giggle. Just a bit.
It made me laugh for like 5 minutes!
As a new parent, Inside Out hits every which way. I was young enough to relate to Riley just how you did, and was able to relate to the parents, and able to image what my sons will go through in ten years. I cried for about half the movie.
I hope you and your family are doing well, and don't worry; everyone did.
up created a better love story in 8 minutes then twilight did in the whole series
Tom TV Omg so true 😂
fr
Omg XD
That's not saying much. A commercial for Jiffy-Lube is a better love story than the Twilight series.
Why are "better love story than Twilight" jokes still a thing in 2017? Twilight is beyond irrelevant now.
I know this is just my opinion, but I cried so hard at that scene in finding dory at the start of the film that when Dory said: "What if I forget you?"

i know it makes pixar unique
Except for Cars 2, we all knew who the bad guy was and what the ending was going to be.
FireHawk 1927 well I didn't expect it, I just expected McQueen to loose instead of being a mentor, but that's just me being clueless
that aspect of Pixar is just something we can relate in reality. We may only plan the best of what we want our lives to be but the course of time and situations may we face just doesn't allow us to do the exact thing that we planned. But in most cases, everything turns out fine

Ending of Toy Story 3 is the saddest moment in my personal opinion, I grew up with Toy Story so when it ended, I was a mess
Gravity 27 OMG YES. That still messes with me to this day.
It’s not over they are making a 4th. I think they shouldn’t though the 3rd has a good ending, now they are just milking the franchise
Kayla T I kinda want a fourth just because it’s going to be about Woody and Bo Peep. Maybe we’ll even see Andy again. Wishful thinking, but I just still really love Toy Story
Oh Yes, Yes, Yes. *blubbers and blubbers* can't go on

Also, I think before Ellie's passing, the cut where Carl and Ellie find out they can't have kids. Her reaction and her sitting in the chair on the lawn? I. Just. Can't. But again, that's probably more of a mom thing. That scene is burned into my brain...Is there any more wine?
I think the whole beginning of UP is the best thing and saddest thing in Disney history. It's just beautiful
Agree, Kerri! It's like the first 20 minutes is one moment...
+Kezlovesmusic yah
Yes! Same here! And same with Carl and Ellie finding out they couldn't have kids. As someone who lost my first (and was blessed to have 4 beautiful babies later on) this resonated with me in ways that ... that ... where are the tissues?
Hey that scene from Ratatouille when he was all alone in the sewer was pretty sad too..... but not as sad as the entire movie of UP!! 😭😭
Tbh the saddest scene in Ratatouille for me was when Linguini kicked Remy out of the restaurant and he left really sad.

Adrianna Ayala yeah, I’ve watched that movie about 10 times and I still cry every time I watch it 😭😭😭😭😭
They need to update this and make it longer to add in more Iconicly sad moments that they missed and newer ones ex the final remember me lullaby version or boo looking for sully
I never even saw Toy Story 3, and I still cried at that clip.
I was going to say you should watch it, but I was an emotional wreck so maybe don’t
Desiraye Rosario I AGREE SO MUCH I JUST SAW THE MOVIE FOR THE FIRST TIME AND ALMOST CRIED
thats how i felt when i had to leave my old town
cars is my favorite movie of all time and i couldn't agree more on this
who is cutting onions ????😢😢😢
Aya Jadayel violet from the incredibles
the onion
HOW WAS BOO LEAVING SULLY NOT NUMBER 2!!!!!!!!
I haven't watched the video yet but if
#1 isn't the first 15 minutes of Up what's the point
Good
Same
It is
I'm surprised the opening to finding nemo wasn't on this list
I'm sorry but I don't really like up
When Dory sees all of the shells in Finding Dory, I started sobbing right in the middle of the movie theater. And I didn’t care.
Not gonna lie, I cried during most of Finding Dory. The whole concept of her short-term memory loss is just so heartwrenching. And then just the line "What if I forget _you_?" just broke my heart. Even after the movie was over, after the post-credits scene, my face was still wet with tears.
I suffer from short term memory loss!
Hmmm what was I saying? Oh, yeah I suffer from short term memory loss
a bad joke to cheer you up
Kawaii Grommet What were we talking about again?
I tried really hard not to cry for a lot of the movie but when she got reunited with her parents I lost it
I can't cry during movies! What is wrong with me?!
movie:I have short term memembory loss🐠
me:she has short term memembory loss😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😭😵😵😵
How can y'all not at least sing it… c'mon guys...
_when she loved meeeeee_ 😞😔💔
"Are there any parents out there?" Umm.... Your brother?
Milo Wood xD
my daughter:she says yes. me: i say no i am an only child #feelbadformydaughterchloecuzshehasnoauntsorunclesonmysideofthefamily
So, am I the only one who teared up in Moana when grandma died, then came back as a stingray to show Moana the way past the reef?
nope
Moana isn't Pixar.
I cry every. Single. Time. And every time she sings the song
I did
Nope, I sob everytime but not pixar
I thought bing bong was going to be evil when I first saw him
I love the phrase “shampoo in the eyes”
9:47 who thought their screen had gone blurry
No, me too. but thats because he said it was in 3D, so they recreated 3D view
Honestly I had started crying pretty much as soon as that second note of the song from Up played (that movie does me in every time, it's like Titanic), so I thought it was my tears making it all blurry. But then of course I tried to blink it away and it didn't work.
I thought it was my tears.
Raise your hand if you finished the ice cream. *_raises hand_*
Hand raised
omg Eliza I'm a huge fan
Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton wow, fellow hamiltrash
Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton No, I was drinking wine.
Elizabeth Schuyler Hamilton I finished my ice cream at :56...
if up wasnt number 1 i would have gone insane
Right? I kept the tears in until that god damn piano music.
Same I can’t even watch that scene without crying
Sliceofbri Me too
The saddest moment of all is Cars 2's existence.
Joey Foster I'm okay with that
Omg yes. That movie sucked. So bad. Lolllll
>:(!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I cried so much watching that.
Cuz it sucks
I liked cars two but hated cars 3 because they ignored cars 2.
All it took was that 8 second Up clip to make me cry again. Dammit Pixar I was like 10!
When I was 10 I didn't have enough empathy to find this sad. Haha. Dear god.... xD
me too, I only found it sad and cried when I watched it again
Wyvernblue XD True dat
Wyvernblue the toy story one?
P
I think Coco's now got these all beat.
GODDAMMIT, Pixar!
Agreed
Wawagirl17 I cried .
Up is still more heartbreaking
That movie made me cry three separate times.. Why, Pixar? Why?
All exept for up
The beginning of Finding Dory when little kid Dory keeps asking for help finding her family and no one helps her.
Yeah, I got really sad during that T.T
when she was like "just keep swimming"
That was sad.
Yeah ΤΔΤ
+Gav Craft fish humanity.
My number one moment is in Inside Out, and it starts where the emotions cant make Riley feel anything. I feel like that is the start of depression. And then by the time she gets back to her parents and cries out all of that held back emotion that she had was so emotional for me. I am an emotional person, so that scene really hit me in the feels.
the carl and ellie and bing bong ones got me
Up is definitely number one. Bing Bong is number two. As soon as they failed on their second attempt, I started crying because I knew he was going to jump. When Riley is in the tree after she lost the game, that is number 3. My brother, who I have never seen cry, cried in Ratatouille.
What part made him cry?
I think it was when Anton had a flashback to his childhood.
Up: proving if a twist Is good enough it can start the movie.
SpongeNerd 37 ikr 😂
the moment I heard the piano from up I teared up and got major chills
me too!! So beautiful and sad
Cool username. 👍🏼
Sadness lol jk I didn't cry
+MaximumRide OMG I love that book maximum ride
it's ok. I felt like I got punched in the heart. ow. I just watched 3 emotional videos in a row. I did this to myself
You forgot Boo's goodbye in Monster's Inc. 😭
I read this comment then spasmed ;-;
I thought that would be number 1
Boo's goodbye was sad, but it wasn't very tear-worthy
it is if you really get into it.
YES idk why but I cryed (when I was old enough to realize what was going on) when they were reunited
The one that hits me hard is Wall E's reset
AND ELLIE'S DEATH
Sky The Dragon same
Callie Myers, omg I have never thought about it like that. Now I feel SO lucky!
Why the heck was the good dinosaur not number one, when spot found his family but wanted to go with Arlo and Arlo just kept pushing him back😭
I cried
Melon Ninja I WAS ABOUT TO SAY THIS OHMYGO
+kaity mackjack Lol
Because we've seen that scene a hundred times already, in other movies. "The Good Dinosaur"'s story really lacked originality. It was more like a CGI-demo.
Melon Ninja I'm surprised the Toy story one wasn't #1
Finding Nemo when Marlen was about to leave Dory and she says "please dont, you're the only family I have"
Cammie Hagins Marlin*
I got a little teary at the end of inside out when Riley reunites with her parents even the second time I watched it I got a little teary
For al the movies here I've seen, none of these moments felt particularly as sad as the monsters inc moment when they had to leave boo. Was very disappointed it didn't make the cut for top 10.
I lost it when Dory found the path with the shells. Right in the feels.
same ;)
That's exactly the same thing that happened with me
OMG SAME 😭😭
I cried like 3 times in that movie
+R3df0x123 That's not how you use that. That's when something saves someone from out of nowhere ford no reason. Doris parents aren't because they went through the same pipe that they knew dory went through and camped there. It makes perfect sense.
Sigh *single tear rolls down my cheek* 😢
Kawaii Channel TISSUES! FREE TISSUES!
Info Chan PLEASE I'M GOING TO NEED THEM
Info Chan *sniff* thank you *sniff* *takes tissues* *sniff*
I'll get some panty shots and pay you back later xD
Actually, the scene at the end of Up (when the house landed at paradise falls) is what really got me. Pure, sentimental poetry. God I genuinely love Pixar, regardless of how esteemed they are.
That part was beautifully made. Perfection.
You missed a really big one. The Beginning Of Finding Nemo. Marlin loses his whole family. 😭
I watched it with my whole family, not a dry eye, and my mom said, "who starts a kids movie off like that?"
Yeah.... i thought about that too :/
That scene screwed me up as a kid.
That was the saddest Pixar movie scene for me too!😩
+Shark Lostworld that's messed up man!!!
Thank you!!! I can't believe that didn't make the cut!!!
I glanced away from my screen for a moment, I heard the music from Up, and a tear rolled down my face...
same 😭
So true
When I saw it was that scene from up I cried I was like why
I cried when I was 5 watching Up, and I balled watching that clip
I did the same DX
*starts tearing up* HEY WHO LEFT THIS BOWL OF ONIONS HERE!
Emily's song, that made me upset and emotional, and when the toys was going to get destroyed, but didn't, it was so emotional and sad 😭
