After watching both of his supercuts, I dreamt I was in the old base, and the Ariral vent event happened. I tossed shrimp at them and then petted their head when they stopped to eat. This was a very cute moment as their face lit up adorably. I thought it was over when an achievement prompt popped up in the corner of my vision, “Ariral befriended, Multiplayer unlocked.” Now one person played Dr. Kel, and the other a smaller Ariral. The Ariral could help Kel with his work, but they also got rewarded for trolling the player. The second player had their own store of items and pranks they could buy, like ragdoll bananas and whoopee cushions, to tech that the player couldn't get like floating lights(like the glowsticks). One was several new forms for kerfus, I can't remember them all, but one was a mixture of the roomba and kerfus, turning him into a six wheel cart that you sent out to gather mushrooms, berries, scrap and garbage. The dream ended with Dr. Kel(me), and the Ariral sitting on the couch, near the power breaker watching old vs tapes on the tv, only for the Ariral to freeze and stare towards the big window. I turn my head and see this wall of eyes blotting out the window. An arm like appendage was crawling through the garage door and toward us. Dream end. Now alot of that dream did not come true, but the patch notes mension a Ariral Rep system so I got something at least.

But a mode where you prank your friend is way funnier and would fit very well. imagine a whole squad of arirals plotting the most devious plan to scare whoever is dr. kel, maybe something like the Papier-mâché aliens.
@@akarycun6227you know, there’s one other thing from that that the devs added. An event. A Rozital reaches in through the garage roof with a scarily-long arm and… …washes the ATV with a big sponge, the same big sponge it drops when it sees you and leaves in a hurry.
@@lordhood117 if you got outside and go in through the roof, it doesn't leave, it's trigger was the door opening, so unless you did that, you literally could just watch it wash the ATV, of which it VERY much just, WASHES it entirely.
I never noticed before this, but I feel like I have had the same dream and I don't know why. I don't remember much, but I am pretty sure I have had a dream about votv, and I am pretty sure that the window looked exactly like that.
honestly? this is a gameplay loop i can get behind. the immersiveness of all the little jobs you do combined with the goofy jank of doing them with source-engine-style physics object manipulation is... really, bizarrely charming. i can zone out sweeping trash around into neat little piles and nudging furniture into pleasing arrangements for HOURS. and in between chores, you go check on your signals and servers, throw a pack of shrimp or two in the microwave, and try desperately to not experience The Horrors. it's just lovely. it's a great, great set of ideas, bundled together with clear passion and love and joy for the finished product.

From what i've heard, the funny setting *disables* all "funny" things in-game, such as kerfus and the plushies due to people complaining that they ruined the serious horror factor of the game (which they didn't), and the dev made the setting to make people stop complaining about it, i am glad you enabled it at the beginning, otherwise you would definitely complain about a lot of things being changed
Honestly, the funny stuff feels as core to the identity of the game as the horror does. And every good horror creator knows you need spaces of levity between the scary stuff, the switch in tone can make it hit all the harder!
@@Tekh09 This is genuinely how many horror games work, by adding unserious or calm sections in between all the horror, it makes the player feel at ease, so when the game then finally drops em off back to the horror they WILL feel the dread of like, being alone with the dangers again, and then if you prolong that feeling of there being a danger but nothing happening for long enough the player might think that maybe they're safe again and then when the game finally does something the impact will feel much stronger since the player was falsely feeling safe thinking it was part of the more calm section of the game though ofc VotV does have the silly a little too much but I don't mind it, it's not my game after all and I'm still looking forward to what the dev is planning on doing nonetheless

@@SwitchyWitch_ the best, most effective example of this in recent years: LETHAL COMPANY! the near-uselessness of almost all the equipment you can buy, the inherent comedy in the distant perfectly-cut-screams, clown horns and hairdryers and airhorns and funny wind-up teeth and whoopee cushions, all the way down to the goofy “training video” you can catch on the TV. and despite ALL OF THIS GOOFINESS, the tension never breaks because at the back of your mind you know all it’ll take is one bracken creeping just out of your vision.

Answering the question in the description - people aren’t tired because it’s a genuinely well-crafted art piece that’s always fun to return to, and because it manages to generate unique adventures each playthrough thanks to sandbox nature of the tools you’re given and randomised events here and there. Kinda reminds me of how things in Rain World can play out, or in Barotrauma. You’re playing the same thing yet again, but it always delivers a new experience each time you do. Plus it’s fun to see people you like interact with the game you love :3
not only that, a lot of peoples playthroughs feel LEGITIMATELY different, there's a lot more stuff in this game than people realize, and everyone seems to find different things, and look for different stuff, like theplushie routes, and some of the other things and secrets this game has had throughout its updates.

Strange things can happen in Switzerland at 3:33, you’ll have to find out for yourself. Though if you’re up for a scavenger hunt, go visit the shed at this time. 3. There’s something living inside the cave in the woods. It’s very shy, however, so you’ll have to lure it out with food. Hint: it likes the color orange. 4. There’s a ton of ways to break a mannequin, there’s even a wood chipper you can chuck em into. But they absolutely *hate* being set on fire. Do so at your own risk. 5. At Stonehenge, there lies a skull. It yearns to be with its six brothers hidden around the map. Find and reunite them at Stonehenge, and they’ll preform a magic trick for you.

Oh now he's on the version I am. This gon be good. I just finished day 40 RIGHT NOW. Yeah, as a returning player, I watched your Nightmare Cut and was like "I wanna play again" but when I installed this it was so different and a bit overwhelming at first. But then I found the niche.
Some tips: 1. Garbage rolls are in the store, I'd recommend using those instead so you don't have to pull individual bags out of your inventory one at a time. 2. I'd recommend taking a look at the hook item in the store. ;) Also that thing in the locker happened to me in the basement lockers and made me scared of the basement for a good while. WUG
The research station is so much bigger now, it feels like it should be operated by a full team. I wonder if they'll make a nightmare involving an endless base, repeating and twisting in on itself.
I don't know if you care or if you've found it yet, but the tutorial has a ton of secret stuff in it. And by secret stuff, I don't mean crap like "tee-hee it's amogus in a corner." I mean like, entire new unique maps full of stuff to do.
You can pull things to you with the grapple so you can grab the item in the bunker You can also use the grapple to pull yourself into the vent which is intentional
The fact I missed this upload by almost a month kills me. I'm for some reason obsessed with you guys playing this game, idk why I just like your vids so much more then others of this game.
Tip for the long haul, if you can afford it at some point, Id suggest getting a rack and some cpu boards to start mining currency passively. You can use refined metal scrap to add more space for the cpus.
the server room might not be that hot. For an internship i had to help decommission a server, the room itself was build as basically a giant AC unit which was really cool. Downside was all the hot air was being pushed into the sewer.

This is one of those games that a multi-player mode would be insane, having to have radios and proximity chat would keep everyone on their toes

Tip for the long haul, if you can afford it at some point, Id suggest getting a rack and some cpu boards to start mining currency passively. You can use refined metal scrap to add more space for the cpus.

the server room might not be that hot. For an internship i had to help decommission a server, the room itself was build as basically a giant AC unit which was really cool. Downside was all the hot air was being pushed into the sewer.
