The most unique part of this game is how paranoid it makes you. You can go for hours without anything spooky happening and be absolutely terrified. It's the only horror game I've ever seen where the isolated setting is the main element used to scare you. There are no jumpscares and no chases but you'll constantly be expecting them because some weird sound you heard half an hour ago will makes your imagination run wild with paranoia.

Fun cleaning/crafting tip: Trash piles can be shoveled to make a giblet of their respective trash type, (wood, paper, plastic, electronic, flesh), This is really useful for getting additional Etrash and metal frags for scrap, handling and selling the trash giblets themselves, and certain events providing flesh giblets produce additional free food
It's hilarious how not only is every copy of VotV personalized, but also every content creator who plays it has a different flavor. Zach is already hitting notes of unhinged efficiency that I haven't seen anyone else reach, and he hasn't even left the gate yet.

If i remember correctly, the Cervesa Cristal meme came about when someone found out that Star Wars was aired in Chile without commercial breaks, with the only ads being for Cervesa Cristal integrated into the footage, basically close ups of arms grabbing a cold one followed by the jingle. Know your Meme has all the clips.
It actually did have commercial breaks, but in initial tests before actually airing, they found there was no good point to put ads in, so they added the Cerveza Cristal ads as bumpers to allow a more smooth and natural transition.
"This game makes my brain go brr." Dude same. The combination of the source-like graphics, the sandbox gameplay, the amazingly fluid controls and the light horror elements mix together so fuckin well.
This is extremely interesting. The game does feel like it was made in Source. I thought so at first but it seemed extremely polished, so I looked it up and found that it was made in Unreal Engine instead. The camera pan while getting up after collapsing feels very HL2. "Node graph out of date" was also from Source. I got that a lot from modding Bonk sounds I'm pretty sure was also used in HL2

the reason why garbage bags only hold one unit of trash is because people could order trash bags for ~15 credits and then stuff a bunch of garbage or woodchips into bags and sell them each individually for ~25, you ordered like 10-20 bags at a time, so you could make a living selling filled garbage bags, so they nerfed it.

I first played Voices Of The Void years ago around the time Vargskeletor Joel was a few streams into his playthrough and I did not get it at all and I ended up putting it up and didn't touch it for another few years. Once version 0.6.3 rolled around and I saw more gameplay of it, I finally gave it another shot and THAT'S when it clicked. I've now got more than 100 hours in the game, I'm on my 3rd playthrough in the newest version and I haven't regretted a single second. I'm really glad to see more and more youtubers, especially ones I love like y'all, finding this game and showing it to their audience. It's a fantastic video game, definitely in my top 3 of all time now, and it 100% needs more recognition.
Explaining a few things you lads questioned about. Ragdoll have an use, if sleep is low (like 15 or 10 left iirc) it will allow you to sleep on the spot without a sleeping bag. Also in the tutorial it allow you to teleport back to spawn depending on where you are at which is required to collect secrets. The tutorial actually have multiple maps though most people only ever see half of the first one. Three rad capsules and a key (along with the keyhole itself) are hidden and required for the second map. Amongus still works last I had checked, you likely just didn't turn on the funny settings to allow it to work which is off by default. The drive near the spawn can't be picked up on the first load into the game. Once saved and reloaded it still look like a drive but act like chocolate (yes, you can eat it). No clue why it only works on reload. MREs are treated like any other food item as stupid as it may be, even if unused roaches can eat them and they can spoil. The only food item immune to such is pizza ironically enough because the game get confused with the pizza boxes. Which is weird as roaches eat bananas and Chinese food just fine though they also have an outer layer. The fridge does in fact make food not spoil (as long it is plugged in and powered) but it also make food cold where you are force to heat it up. Bonus tip heated food (from room temp) in general give a minor bonus to how filling they are and once again MREs are kinda silly because you are expected to microwave them like any other food item. Though if too hot you might lose minor amount of health by burning yourself but natural health regen can cover that. The achievement burgers don't go bad ever as long you don't give them the first touch, afterwards I'm unsure as I always ate them right away. Asking for real life time and saying that have no baring on the game. Kinda funny as there is one event that does happened based on real time. If playing on the 24 day of any given month (in real life, as in system time) then after an ingame day or so you will guarantee a special event. Also a Halloween event is built into the game. By default the radar is pinging three things. You, ATV and the crappy camera outside of the main door of your base, even if off it counts. I highly recommend selling the camera or at the very least shove it in a recycle bin or container. If you get a Kerfus they will also create a signal on the radar. There isn't always three hash, it depends on your settings. On the easiest settings I believe it a single hash per day, on the hardest it like 8 daily if I recall.
This was a pleasant surprise to see. Also funny how I had the same issues and experience that zach had. Now I get to go binge the newfound content from zach's channel :D

oh this game! Seriously a breakout delight, and the dev is constantly adding to and improving it. Since Zach seems to have connected with it so much, this is part of an emerging genre yahtzee's been calling "post-dadgames" which are essentially job simulators with some kind of twist, genre fusion, or fantastical premise. Arguably this genre was codified with viscera cleanup detail, and it's recently seen a huge surge as job sims have become a big thing in gaming again. I highly recommend Hardspace Shipbreaker as well, it's a game where you cut up ships in 0-G, super satisfying physicsy stuffs.

Things I learned from this video despite having played the game myself: 1) You can vault/climb onto ledges by double-tapping space 2) The incinerator *generates* gas (I always thought that the hook-up for gas cans was to add fuel to the incinerator to make it run and the feature just hadn't been fully implemented yet) 3) The ATV apparently has a tether cable or something to tow objects 4) The broom also works on trash gibs/piles as well as the actual trash items, and the little roll they do before splatting back onto the floor is oddly satisfying At the same time, I've played this game enough that around the 1:01:40 mark, I instinctively noticed the slow camera drift that indicates the insomnia demon has started to manifest and spent every moment after that on high alert until it finally showed itself.

I've seen this game being played all the time by the likes of Vargskelethor, but I never quite "got" it. Zach's lovely little introduction here finally spurred me to give the game a try myself, and I think I love it! And that's just me learning how to do the job on ambience mode lmao.

a tip for the garbage bags btw, you can put them into a box or something the drone can collect and call the drone to pick it up and youll get points for all the garbage bags you get rid of. this is a really easy way to get a ton of early money while also cleaning up the base

The fridge does in fact make food not spoil (as long it is plugged in and powered) but it also make food cold where you are force to heat it up. Bonus tip heated food (from room temp) in general give a minor bonus to how filling they are and once again MREs are kinda silly because you are expected to microwave them like any other food item. Though if too hot you might lose minor amount of health by burning yourself but natural health regen can cover that. The achievement burgers don't go bad ever as long you don't give them the first touch, afterwards I'm unsure as I always ate them right away.
Asking for real life time and saying that have no baring on the game. Kinda funny as there is one event that does happened based on real time. If playing on the 24 day of any given month (in real life, as in system time) then after an ingame day or so you will guarantee a special event. Also a Halloween event is built into the game.
By default the radar is pinging three things. You, ATV and the crappy camera outside of the main door of your base, even if off it counts. I highly recommend selling the camera or at the very least shove it in a recycle bin or container. If you get a Kerfus they will also create a signal on the radar.
There isn't always three hash, it depends on your settings. On the easiest settings I believe it a single hash per day, on the hardest it like 8 daily if I recall.

I have been waiting for Zach and Mike to find this game, glad to see they finally get to experience it
oh this game! Seriously a breakout delight, and the dev is constantly adding to and improving it.
Since Zach seems to have connected with it so much, this is part of an emerging genre yahtzee's been calling "post-dadgames" which are essentially job simulators with some kind of twist, genre fusion, or fantastical premise. Arguably this genre was codified with viscera cleanup detail, and it's recently seen a huge surge as job sims have become a big thing in gaming again.
I highly recommend Hardspace Shipbreaker as well, it's a game where you cut up ships in 0-G, super satisfying physicsy stuffs.
Seeing these two play this game is a sight and a half, great to see you end up in Dunkeltaler Forest (and familiarity with controls, nice!).

Things I learned from this video despite having played the game myself:
1) You can vault/climb onto ledges by double-tapping space
2) The incinerator *generates* gas (I always thought that the hook-up for gas cans was to add fuel to the incinerator to make it run and the feature just hadn't been fully implemented yet)
3) The ATV apparently has a tether cable or something to tow objects
4) The broom also works on trash gibs/piles as well as the actual trash items, and the little roll they do before splatting back onto the floor is oddly satisfying
At the same time, I've played this game enough that around the 1:01:40 mark, I instinctively noticed the slow camera drift that indicates the insomnia demon has started to manifest and spent every moment after that on high alert until it finally showed itself.
Oh hey, I'm the one that suggested the feature where the pc power button is on the pc instead of the scroll menu. You can request features and submit bug reports through a google form on the dev's discord.

I've seen this game being played all the time by the likes of Vargskelethor, but I never quite "got" it. Zach's lovely little introduction here finally spurred me to give the game a try myself, and I think I love it! And that's just me learning how to do the job on ambience mode lmao.

a tip for the garbage bags btw, you can put them into a box or something the drone can collect and call the drone to pick it up and youll get points for all the garbage bags you get rid of. this is a really easy way to get a ton of early money while also cleaning up the base
This game allows you to add your own music and videos to play on the in game radios and tvs, making for some amazing spontaneous and candid moments.

Went ontop of the roof of the base... that is located in a swiss forrest.... with an outdated norwegian "Danger, High Voltage" sign plastered on the outside of the corridor to the living quarters..... My brain is melting trying to make sense of this, and the only conclusion is that it felt like a practical joke ment for Joel
