    Good, fair review. I have a Bass Raider and agree with your assessment 100%. Although I've owned several fishing boats, I've concluded the Bass Raider (or similar) is the best value in fishing boats.

    Really great video I enjoyed it. Well done I’m about to buy a base raider. But I’ve been asking people have you taken it on the river? I can’t tell her you want a river in this video. I’m a river man. Also have you taken any water some of the reviews talked about getting water in the boat. Thank you

    I want to buy one for my husband as a surprise but have no clue on trailer? Any suggestions where to get it cheap? Like $500 or less? Without modifications needed so we can get the boat immediately. Thanks!

    • @TallFisherJ
      @TallFisherJ  3 года назад +1

      Only place I can think of that cheap would have to be Facebook marketplace or craigslist. Harbor Freight may have a deal going on for a Utility trailer as well but not sure…
      Hope this helps!

    Hello J Rob would this be a good boat for a female? My name is Michelle H and I am looking for a boat that won’t hurt my body . Also I have a small truck GMC Canyon would that work for transport?

    • @TallFisherJ
      @TallFisherJ  2 года назад

      The lightest boat you could get I’d recommend is a kayak. This boat does weigh close to 100 lbs dry and its width does make it a little harder than a kayak to load/unload

    Hey bro great review, I’ve had 1 for 3 months now…I would say another Con would be the side walls are not deep enough to hold rods, cups, etc. Other than that, a great small boat you can modify to your liking and toss in the back of your truck.

  • @kevinhesser4889
    @kevinhesser4889 2 года назад

    Nice video, appreciate your time and effort. I’ve had a few of these and flat out wear them out!
    I still go to the trouble of throwing it in the back of the truck THEN loading all my stuff into it…taking everything back out before putting it in the water and then putting everything back in. Yes, it’s a lot of effort but keeps it light to load and unload.
    I like your wheel setup to help put it in the water, especially since the first one I had I drug it up and down ramps so much I wore holes in the bottom..yea…don’t do that. Now, I rarely use a ramp if i can avoid it, just find somewhere else to put in. That way I’m not clogging up the ramp since it takes me awhile.
    My next step is to build out a standing platform and see how that works out. Also thinking about adding Panoptix which seems overkill, adding something that cost 2 to 3 times as much as the boat itself!
    One tip I would give new Pelican owners…invest in the Cush-it rod floats because you ARE going to knock a rod in the water.

  • @ThorinOakenshieldGSD2023
    @ThorinOakenshieldGSD2023 2 года назад

    Thank you for the review, it helps solidify the boat as a top pick for me. Most use will be solo, at 6'4" tall 265 and 62 years of age the stability is appealing over say a Hobbie kayak. During the video it looked like it handled boat wakes well. My one question is having your reached or exceeded the boats 515lb person limit, or 600lb limit with equipment and if so how comfortable where you with it's performance.
    Stay safe and keep fishing.

    How does it hold up in salt water ? I ordered a Minn kotta 55 endura max. I couldn’t find Minn kotta ridge line for salt water.

    • @TallFisherJ
      @TallFisherJ  3 года назад +1

      Both my bass raider and minn Kota 45 lb thrust hold up well in saltwater. I’ve been using both in salt and fresh water for over a year and haven’t had any issues. Make sure was down with fresh water agar every use and you’ll be good!

  • @fishingwithvance

    I would probably add... Lack of pole holders in the back and better ones in the front. Also, the floor is hard to fish on without adding a mat or some type of flooring. Good Vid. Fish on!

    I have a 4 HP on mine and I don't run it at full throttle. There's a lot of transom flex, and it's worse when it's really hot outside. They tend to plow through the water, especially with two people so I take it easy. About 3/4 throttle at most. I'm not in a hurry and I don't want a cracked transom.

  • @nospam3409
    @nospam3409 2 года назад

    If it's only rated for 3hp, don't run your 4hp gas motor at full throttle unless you're going to neef up the transom.

    Very informative video..Question, just got a 10e and am trying to decide on a 2.5 or 3.5 motor..concerned about your statement on the transom. Have you come up with a way to strengthen?? I would like a 3,5 but if it is going to cause a problem i may back down to the 2.5..thanks for sharing..good luck...

    • @TallFisherJ
      @TallFisherJ  3 года назад +1

      You definitely want to go with the 3.5 and strengthen the transom. I’ll put a video out soon on how i strengthened mine so that it no longer flexes

    Good to see you back on the water! Good boat, better guy. What are you using for a stake out pole? (I use a tree spike I got at Lowe’s.) I know space is limited, but would you ever use 2 to keep your boat’s orientation to your target area?
    Have a fantastic weekend fellow SC outdoorsman! You will have to share some good sc fishing spots in or around Charleston! :-)
