    Always fold mine the exact same way. Yes, it has fold lines (and a few burn holes) but I've been using it for years and it's still waterproof along the fold lines. Thanks for filming guys, Andy

      Updating my own comment 3 years later, I have adopted Tom's third method and now stuff my tarp into the (large) sidepocket on my rucksack.

    Orange endless loops on the ridgline ends and blue on the corners. Stuff that sucker in the bag and leave one of each color at the top and you're ready to set it up however you like right of of the bag. Been stuffing my 3x3 for years and haven't had a leak yet.

    Hold the two oposite sides or the ridge line with one hand, hold the middle loop with the other hand. And voilà, it is now a 1.5 meters square. This works even with big tarps, i do this by attaching a carabineer to a tree, to hold the two opposites of the ridge line when i am working with my dd xl or 3.5 by 3.5 that are huge. Drying them at home is another story...

    I've just brought 2x dd snake skins for my 3.5 x 3.5 tarp. I watched someone do it on RUclips and thought it was extremely quick and clean

    We notice every method shown in the video still has a fold along the ridgeline. How many times would one expect to fold it along this point before a failure in the fabric would start to appear? Has this been an issue in the past with customers and if so how old were the tarps in question? As users of DD products we'd be very interested in the above information. Keep up the great work guys, you make some very dependable equipment and we recommend DD to our own viewers on nearly a daily basis to folk requiring coverage. All the best, Gareth&Zoe Wildcamps

      Hi there - thank you for your question, and also for your very kind words and recommendation!
      We have always given this advice as more of a precautionary measure, to prevent potential weakening happening over an extended period of time, if the tarp was folded sharply along the exact same lines every time.
      Our tarps have been used and packed away by customers, some of them for years on end and no issues have arisen. However, just like with any outdoor gear, we do advise that the fold line is varied / rotated every so often, even just a small amount to keep everything in perfect condition. Failing that, stuffing your tarp carefully back into the bag will ensure that it is different every time :)

      Thanks guys, that is good to know and no probs re recommending your kit, it's performed really well for us under many varied conditions from snow to blistering heat. We're very confident in sending our viewers in your direction.

    Definitely stuff it but leaving the attachment points to the top. Makes it a whole lot easier to pitch next time

    The first option is my favorite. Thanks for the video. Just got my first dd hammocks tarp and after trying it out in my livingroom i was wondering how i get it back into the bag so cleanly. 😄

  • @PaulOutdoors

    I tend to use the last method as it is the quickest, doesn't need the tarp to touch the ground and doesn't repeatedly fold the tarp along the same lines 😊👍

    I tend to stuff mine as I'm lazy and can't be bothered to fold it. No worries about fold lines ha ha. I also use a dry bag to keep wet off and to keep wet in when it has been rained on. I do really rate my DD equipment and I have too much 🤣

      Hi there! We've no immediate plans to introduce a SuperLight Tarp 4x4 to our range, I'm afraid. But I can certainly let the team here know it's something you'd like to see, and it might be something we can add in the future! Thanks for the comment 🙂 Best, Caroline - DD Hammocks

    I would love it if the superlight tarp stuffsack was a bit bigger, because i have not been able to stuff it, which i would much rather do than folding it.

      That's funny because I keep mine in "snakeskins" then stuff it in the storage bag. Just the skins, ridgeline and tarp, no stakes or guy lines, it fits fine.

  • @BushcraftEurope

    With Aquaquest I don't have to bother how many times will fold it same way :D

  • @michaeldehaan7826

    I noticed that for two out of the three methods we didn't see you actually putting it in the bag. Perhaps this is because like most things the bags aren't big enough and you were cussing up a storm putting it in. I suggest you just make the bags a little bit larger.
    For what it is worth though, my wife loves your voice and said she would listen to you all day.
    I finally just went with a small Sea to Summit compression bag. It allows me to pack it with the ridgelines, carabiners and anything else I might need to hang the tarp in just a few minutes. Incidentally in the Sea to Summit bag, I stuff.
    All this having been said, the tarp itself is a damn good product. I would easily buy another one.

    Can you stuff the Superlight tarp as well?

    • @ddhammocks2418
      @ddhammocks2418  5 лет назад +3

      Hi Mikko - You certainly can! Stuffing the tarp is a great way to reduce the same fold lines being used repeatedly. It's a smaller bag, so just be mindful not to pull too hard on the top when stuffing in the tarp.
      Hope this helps!

      @@ddhammocks2418 Is it fine to use these stuff bags as long time storage or should i storage them like sleeping bags? Either hanging or lightly rolled etc?

  • @JimmyTheMower
    @JimmyTheMower 6 лет назад

    It says on the instructions that come with the tarp not to fold it repeatedly as this will shorten the life of the tarp.
    We've all been stuffing them back in the suff sack for years.

    • @ddhammocks2418
      @ddhammocks2418  4 года назад

      Hi Ron! Thanks for your question. The SuperLight Tarp is able to be packed away just the same as shown in the video, with the guy lines attached. If folding it isn't working for you, you can also just stuff this in the sack and aim to fill out the bottom corners and sides then fill the middle out. If you need any help do drop us an email at: sales@ddhammocks.com and we'll be able to assist you further 😊 Best, Caroline - DD Hammocks

  • @cazsmokinnn
    @cazsmokinnn 5 лет назад +1

    I stuff my 4x4 every time dont enjoy rolling around on the floor in the wind and rain trying to fold it up lol. I tend to after handling all the para cord bring all the loops to the centr of the ridge line and then stuff into the sack while it's still hanging from the ridge line

      Good technique cazsmokinn! Thank you for sharing. It is always good try try and keep things off the ground, especially if wet.
      Regarding the SuperLight Tarp 4x4 - we do not have any plans for this as yet but it may be something we consider in the future. Do keep an eye on our website for any new products. Thank you for your feedback!
