Who down votes something this epic? Children these days will never understand what music is supposed to sound like with all that auto-tuned, remixed, over processed garbage they are canning and putting out on the radio these days for all of the genres. I stopped listening to contemporary country because they started rapping... WTF? This is country. Real country and beautiful. All natural, no additives. :) I will be buying a bunch of music this week. I am glad a buddy turned me on to this band.
Hows your pontificating going?....are you still behind this band and I can't imagine your happy with the "traditional" music scene........I hope you get out and search for the sound in person....cheers
The fact that this doesn't have more views really bothers me. This is one of the most amazing songs ever recorded. Not only is the material the best, but the sound engineering is absolutely amazing as well. EVERY time I put this song on, I tear up a little from its absolute brilliance. Rock the fuck on.
this song will always hold a special place in my heart. my best friend passed away and my buddies jammed this song out at his funeral. Railroad Earth gave him a shout out before they played this song in Natchez, ms
This song is the mantra for what I’m discovering in North America. Who knew we had ancient art and ancient civilizations living right here in our own backyard, and they worshipped birds. Some of us know about the Birdman of Cahokia, but many of us don’t even know what Cahokia is! Who ever would’ve thought, we travel all the way to Egypt to see the great pyramids, to Italy to see the Colosseum, and right here in North America we have pyramids of our own. The ancient people had a connection with birds, my sun conure has been my best friend for 13 years. We still have a connection with them, and I have a connection with this music. It speaks volumes.
This reminds me of when I first saw these guys at the Whitney Chapel in Hackettstown in 2005. No amplification (besides microphones), no drum kit, and quite an amazing little venue to see them in. Good stuff!
Whenever I need a little lift in life I think about that little bird dying to get out. Thanks Railroad Earth for such an inspirational message and letting that bird out of the house. Keep playin' on....Jimmy B."Just Another Bird In The House"
July 30, 2015 - Southwest Harbor, Maine - Love this song, both the concept and the rendering. I love that you're not miked. I've been talking to people recently about how often performances like this are over-miked. "i want to join my own kind..." indeed! I'm singing un-miked in a bar tonight and really looking forward to it. This is my first time hearing you guys! Love it! God Bless y'all! Peace
this is fantastic. now, I'm not musically inclined at all but it's awesome how far away he is from the mic. such a powerful voice and what the H kind of microphone is that? I don't believe I've ever seen it used by a lead vocalist before. it picks up amazing sound.

Amen
I bet a handful of the views are also the same viewer 100 times or more as well - I know I'm guilty
Same. Here I am five years later. @@robynhall4179 🤣

This band has such a gift for telling stories, pulling at your heart-strings, and bringing a smile to the face.
This is a tough tune.......how do you feel about it 10 years later?
Speaks to the soul, you have to be free and live the life you belong in. Not what everyone tells you to be in. Be free like a bird!!!
Just as I was reading your comment, the fiddle joined in and flew like the bird! His solo at 3:46
So excited to see them once again this October at The Farm in Eureka Springs Ar Hillberry festival.

Who out there harvest fested at mulberry mountain
literally about a bird who was stuck in his windowless studio apt long ago
I sense more of a jailbird
Was the bird really suicidal based on it’s outlook of a bleak future or was it just truly caught in a inescapable trap? Oh shit, I get the metaphor. 😮
BACAAAAaaawww? The bird asked as it took it's final breathe...
WHADYA MEAN A BIRD
Bas me zanima tko je ovu pjesmu ocjenil sa negativnom ocjenom!!!
I zašto? Meni je zakon!
Ovi kojima ne paše nek slušaju turbo folk iz srbije!
