- Sure! Here's a recipe for homemade stromboli, a delicious Italian-American dish that is essentially a rolled pizza filled with various ingredients. This recipe combines a flavorful dough with a tasty filling for the ultimate stromboli experience. Enjoy!
Ingredients:
For the dough:
2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon sugar
1 teaspoon salt
1 tablespoon active dry yeast
1 cup warm water
2 tablespoons olive oil
For the filling:
1/2 lb thinly sliced pepperoni
1/2 lb sliced ham
1/2 lb thinly sliced salami
1/2 lb sliced provolone cheese
1/2 cup sliced black olives (optional)
1/4 cup finely chopped fresh basil
1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1/4 cup olive oil
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
Salt and pepper to taste
For the dipping sauce:
1 cup marinara sauce
1/2 teaspoon dried basil
1/2 teaspoon dried oregano
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
Instructions:
In a large bowl, combine the warm water, sugar, and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until the yeast becomes frothy.
Add the salt and olive oil to the yeast mixture, and gradually add the flour while stirring. Mix until the dough starts to come together.
Transfer the dough onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic. Form the dough into a ball.
Grease a large bowl with olive oil and place the dough in it. Cover the bowl with a damp kitchen towel and let the dough rise for about 1 hour in a warm place, until it has doubled in size.
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
Punch down the risen dough and transfer it to a lightly floured surface. Roll it out into a rectangular shape, about 1/4 inch thick.
Layer the pepperoni, ham, salami, provolone cheese, black olives (if using), basil, Parmesan cheese, olive oil, dried oregano, garlic powder, salt, and pepper evenly over the dough.
Starting from one of the longer sides, tightly roll the dough into a log shape, tucking in the filling as you go. Pinch the seams to seal.
Place the stromboli seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet. Brush the top with olive oil and sprinkle with a pinch of salt and dried oregano.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, or until the stromboli is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
While the stromboli is baking, prepare the dipping sauce. In a small saucepan, heat the marinara sauce over low heat. Stir in the dried basil, dried oregano, and garlic powder. Let it simmer for a few minutes until heated through.
Once the stromboli is done baking, remove it from the oven and let it cool for a few minutes. Slice it into thick pieces and serve warm with the dipping sauce.
This homemade stromboli is a crowd-pleaser and perfect for sharing with family and friends. Enjoy the delicious combination of flavors and textures in this Italian-inspired dish! Here are some of my favorite Products - Affiliate Links below

1) A calzone is a Stromboli with ricotta cheese
2) Iodine doesn’t make a difference
3) a few stray yeast won’t make a difference
4) Next time use a flexible folded paper plate or flexible plastic cutting board to slowly tap the flour in as you stir
5) Yes the humidity is making your dough absorb the flour and why its a sticky dough - you adjusted well by using liberal amounts if flour on the board and on your hands
6) Fun using the tumbler! 😂
7) the oil in the middle of Stromboli makes no sense, oh AI!!
8) next time leave the longer side on your side of the table, and leave a bigger border of dough but you did a good job considering
9) use greased foil or parchment paper on the pan before putting the Stromboli on
10) great job you really are improving!
I liked your comment because you said what I was not kind enough to and put it in a way that I would not be kind enough to.
This is becoming one of my favorite channels love it
I’ve made Stromboli plenty of times. It’s different than Calzone. Stromboli is like a rolled up pizza, with meats and cheeses in or just pepperoni and cheese. Calzone is the shape of a half moon, filled with ricotta, mozzarella and ham, folded in half and crimped around the edge.
See Dave now that ur self-employed we get more Dave. Win win for ur fans. Stay strong and be safe.
You should ask AI Best dinner recipe from a particular year, ex. "what was the most popular dinner recipe in 1950", figured I'd use Kevin's birth year as the example😂 would be fun to see what AI comes up with
You need a history book, not AI for that.
The long way.. u got more slices !! I’m watching for the first time. But just noticed the AI REFERENCE!! Not expecting much now that i know it’s only the world’s best Stromboli in the mind of AI!!!
My wife makes Stromboli. But it's either pepperoni or meatball. And that's it. One or the other. You got a lot going in one Stromboli. Totally want to try this version!!
Dave, that looks really good! you did a great job.
You’re the only content provider I have to slow down the speed. 😂 Stromboli looks good!
First time on this channel. I have to say thought I wouldn’t stay to the end but I did lol. Went ahead and subbed. Looks delicious 😋
Dang it! I just got back from the store. Now I have to wait another 2 wks before I can make this delicious looking nummy yummyness. Can't wait🎉
The Stromboli can be curved to fit the baking sheet. Just slightly like an U. A flat sheet would help or pizza stone even better. Equipment makes a difference! Brushing with a bit of egg (scrambled with teaspoon water) or even olive oil or butter brushed on top will make it beautiful golden brown. You might want to watch Italian grandmas on RUclips to see technique in action! Good job getting that dough together. I’m making something similar-Spinach sausage, cheese stuffed bread, but using frozen dough to lighten the work load. 😊
Looks good! I am all for baked bread, meat & cheese!!
You could bend the Stromboli a little in the pan to make it fit. People make shapes (wreaths, hearts, etc). Also, maybe foil or something on the bottom to make it easier to get out of the pan.
I like this show Dave. I’m a reseller but I actually watch cooking videos a lot, this is a fun one to watch. I hope you will indulge me with a suggestion…you should do a show once a month or so wherein you have someone else cook their specialty…you live in the perfect place retired people love to show younger gens how it’s done. Those of us who watch cooking videos love to watch how the older generation does things. btw im not volunteering myself I just know what I like.
I had no idea what stromboli was... but now- YUM😮😮 Have to tweak it for allergies but looks yum!
A Stromboli is rectangular to start and rolled lengthwise. It is then folded in on each end. A calzone starts with a circle of dough and folded into sort of like a half moon. I’ll take either one.
You made me do it. I signed up to use Bard (ai). Asked for authentic recipe for blinzes. I have wanted to try this. My grandmother use to make these form scratch. The stores do not carry them anymore. Thank you Dave. Got my recipe and am going to make them.
Mama picker surely has a best recipe she could come on and cook for you
A little egg wash and it would have made it more golden, however looks delicious. Made me want to make one.
That's a nice looking dough, nice job Dave
Great Job Dave !!!!!
looks good, dave! thought i'd check this out after hearing you plug it over on your resale channel. subscribed here, too. just a suggestion - might be nice to have the recipe in the description, or maybe show a still-shot of the recipe for a few seconds at the end of the video so people can take a screenshot. the way it is now, if i wanna try this, i've gotta rewatch and take notes -- good for view counts, but not so good for viewers.
A I assumes you know to cut vent holes in the dough before baking! And parchment paper would have made a world of difference as you rolled out your dough and rolled up your stromboli! And lined your baking pan with parchment too! But surprisingly, the finished product looked great! And the dough you made looked wonderful too! Congratulations! That sure did look like the Best stromboli!
You are so genuinely unique and real❤
Wow Dave you did a really great job looks so YUMMY ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Loved the video! I would like to see the best Maine Style Lobster Roll. The one that does not have mayonnaise. I know that Lobster is expensive right now - so may need to wait until prices go down.
Egg wash the dough and slice vent slices across top. In a pinch hurry, use thin can pizza dough. Kids will love it. With those ingredients you used, theres no going wrong, it had to be delicious!
Tis was my first The World's Best Video. You are just as entertaining on this channel as you are on both of your ADH Dave channels. I absolutely enjoyed this. Oh and this is Deesoldandnew. Thanks for making me laugh and for showing us a great recipe.
What's even funnier about Prego 17:02 and having it bring up visions of being with child is, their slogan used to be "It's in there".😮
Unless you are curing meat or fermenting, it doesn't matter what salt you use. Iodized is good for you.
Yummm...I'm going to make this!!!
You need iodine in your diet, only obtained by using iodized salt. However, chefs like to use kosher salt for cooking. But you can use iodized as table salt. Don’t keep adding flour as you knead. The gluten won’t have a chance to develop. You knead to develop the gluten (stretchiness.). Great job!
'deliciousity' ... word of the day!
Fyi; professional cooks do not admit their mistakes on camera. They just keep going as they chuckle to themselves... lol You are doing great and I may just learn something and may try new recipes with AI
It looks amazing. My mouth was watering.
😋Oh wow that looks great! I didn't think it would hold up due to how full it was.😂😅 Great job Dave. I would like to see world's best Black Forest Cake maybe!?
Yeah you made Stromboli!!! I make it all the time at my house 😊
Kosher Salt is much softer and gentle, but Iodine Salt, is more salty in smaller portions. You can compare Kosher Salt, like a softer perfume, and Iodine Salt, like a very strong perfume scent, which you can't put too much on your self
Great job, it looks so good!! Love your cooking methods!
I used Chat GPT to create a complete monthly meal plan, with grocery list, for a Mediterranean diet. I love it! Great video!
Great idea
Humidity can throw off both baking and cooking certain things.
This is so great Dave!"😂 that looks like me cooking!
Great Video, This looks like me trying to recreate a YT recipe. Great work. I also am intimidated by making dough.
You did really good
I watched for the first time tonight and loved the video. Thank you 💗💗 Kathy
Calzone has sauce in it... Stromboli gets dipped in .
If using regular salt iodized is the way to go except if recipe calls for none iodized.
for a better pizza dough, let the dough ferment in the refrigerator for at least one day. you will have a totally better flavour. good video.
Double Dipping Dave over here.
Thank you for a good lauvh, simply love you keep it up.
13:52 The Pepperoni is also going to have alot of oil and grease in it. This might be pretty drippy when you are done. May need some adjusting.
Wow nice job, looks good.
You can put anything in a stromboli, Calzones are a little more picky and Ricatta better be in it.
Shorter side would stop the inside from cooking.
Prego in Italian is Please.
Oil oilve the top and bottom.
Cooking salt is kosher or sea salt... The iodized salt is more like table salt...also the taste is off when you cook with iodized salt...
I'd have thinly sliced Andouille sausage added to it...
Great job! Looks delicious
Looks wonderful
Artisinal salt from the Dead Sea! 😂🤣
Yummy!!! Really enjoy your video's, just a helpful hint when stirring the yeast mixture maybe use a wisk it would incorporate the ingredients much better also maybe have all the ingredients and tools close to you so it is more seamless when preparing your delish dishes. I can't wait to try this!!!😸
Humidity will absolutely affect dough making!!
Should use Italian ham. Ham cappy! Honey ham is NOT desired on a Stromboli but I’m sure it would taste ok😊
As a nurse, please use iodized salt. Most Americans do not get enough iodine in our diet. This was added to avoid thyroid deficiencies
According to the National Institutes of Health's Office of Dietary Supplements, tests have shown that the population in the United States is “iodine sufficient.” Most Americans who eat a varied diet get enough iodine even if they don't use iodized salt.Jul 21, 2017
@@cynthiad1837that’s true
As an engineer, I think he did an awesome job.
I have Hashimoto’s thyroid and read that the iodine level must be sufficient but not too much. I’m not sure how they check this, but do use lots salt and seasoning in Louisiana.
Loved the video, subscribed.
Hey Dave ask your ai for the recipe for a peanut cake. Not peanut butter. My Mon was famous for her cake🙂❤️ Can't wait to see what it says👍
I would like to know how to make Mexican street corn
On youtobe look up original stromboli look for Romaros in Essington PA. This will show you how to do it.
Looks delicious will have to try it😊💐👍
Always non iodised! IMHO! Dave always add wet to dry and get yourself a whisk!
Make blueberry Bojangles biscuits please
You need olive for flavor and cooking!😊 looking good so far David😊 delicious yummy I’m coming over even though this video is a year old. I’m sure you’ll be cooking something else!!😊😊😊😊😊😊😊😊 should be browned more though 😮not crustier more browned
Somebody's been to Buckees. What a circus that place is!
You can ask chat gpt to give you a certain recipe in the style of a particular famous chef..
Ie, bacon mac and cheese in the style of Gordon Ramsey...
I totally just made that up btw...
I also have dough anxiety 😂
you know you should do a funny with your video like get something that does not belong there. like tp paper on your grill, in your refrigerator or something like that. or a toy in a bowl? just a thought. love all your shows
OMG that would be funny! 😂🤭
That looks amazing!
It looks so yummy!!❤
Use the iodized salt. Your body needs iodine for your thyroid to work properly. In the 1920’s, the US government mandated iodine be incorporated into salt because it is difficult to get enough iodine into your body through normal meat and vegetable meals.
It looks delicious!!!!!
I would’ve said skip all of that olive oil inside, and make slits with a knife on the top for venting
👍👍😎✌️🤟😋😋😋
Facts
Sooooo I keep frozen pizza dough on hand and I have the meats & mozzarella cheese… this pregnant lady was swayed & we’ll be making a modified version at home!!
Please cook. Golden syrup dumplings
What about a savory birthday cake 😂?
Try Pizzagaina next.
Iodized salt when cooking 🧑🍳
No Stromboli is not same as a calzone. Calzone has Ricotta in it Stromboli has meat n cheese etc. 😊❤both different but both delicious 😊❤😅
Iodine is an essential nutrient, required by the thyroid gland to produce thyroxine, a hormone that controls many body functions, including brain acuity. A deficiency of iodine in the diet leads to an enlargement of the thyroid gland, known as goiter, and in extreme cases causes cretinism and dwarfism. But even mild cases of iodine deficiency can cause mental retardation. Indeed, iodine deficiency is regarded as the leading preventable cause of mental retardation. A small deficiency in pregnant women or infants can lower IQ scores by 10-15 points. It is estimated that about 2 billion people suffer from iodine deficiency in the world, and the real tragedy is that the condition is so readily preventable. Addition of potassium iodate to salt is the simple solution. About $1.15 worth added to each ton of salt solves the problem. Progress is being made: in 1990 only about 25% of the world’s households consumed iodized salt, now more than two thirds do.
With iodine. For sure🙂
I'm left to wonder if people should make instructional vid's about something they've never done before?
It would be too hard for me to make bread from scratch and all the kneading etc
Looks good, but that looks like a pizza roll not a stromboli
Don't listen to ai ever
You forgot to cut air holes
The one with iodine.
Stròmboli
We all need iodine as much as water.
Lol maybe not as much
May be to expensive.
most top chefs for a while now will tell you to not use sea salt???
interesting? Why is that?
i guess their was a big thing everyone was thinking it was better healthy but chefs have said alot of time theirs not much difference
"The World's Best Stromboli made by an Idiot Cook"
This is not stromboli. Stromboli comes with pickled peppers i salami. You are mayking pepperoni bread
Man, you and I will never cook together, total buzz kill dude.
