    I'm shocked that you are so calm doing this job. I HATE changing the waterpump on M103 or M104 because of the Allen bolts if it is the original pump AND the tensioner especially if it is your first time working with the belt tensioner! I always do the waterpump when the headgasket is done. Best time to do it, beautiful 300E.

      When doing the head gasket, everything should be changed while at it. And thank you!

    I replaced the stock fan with 2 12 Inch electric fans on my 87 300d and my
    87 300sdl. Now both cars run at 85c on 105 deg day running ac.
    It made a big difference in power too the engine not having to spin the fan and ac when both are engaged. Swapped out the 70 amp a alternator with a 120 amp. Huge difference. Now I have to sell my 300d. Can't afford insurance on 2 cars. Just got it to everything is perfect but definitely prefer
    A w126 300sdl over a 300d. Sdl is so much more refined. But I love all the diesel mercedes

    Excellent video, well filmed and all details well explained. You did a great job Vito, very professional, that baby purrs like a kitten now and has rock steady temperature. This video is really going to help me change the water pump on my 190e 2.6 which has just started leaking from below and is basically the same layout as this 300E, I learnt so much, thank you Vito. 😎👍

    Really nice work, Vito! M103 water pump replacement is really similar on the M104. Definitely requires patience! 🙂 Brought back a lot of memories for when I did this on a 93 300E 2.8. The W124 is a beautiful chassis 😍 I was a W126 and R129 lover - but the W124 has really won me over

    Just wanna say that my M103 water pump has 3 X 13 mil bolts and the allen (hex) bolt and , oh yeah, the top right 13 mil is a pain in the a**.

      Very interesting because on my Baby Benz all 4 bolts are 13mm hex. Same engine

    I wish if you could show how to fix or replace the crankshaft pulley. Thanks or if i can just ask for what tools to use

      I only recommend installing a brand new genuine crank pulley. This playlist might help you. Complete rebuild of M103 engine:

    Awesome video! Just wondering what brand water pump did you use as a replacement?

    Another informative video. Hope I don’t have to do this on my ‘87 260e. Hey Vito, what do you suggest in terms of painting those exhaust headers? Should I remove them for bead blasting and them ceramic coating or try to paint them on the car?

    • @VITOSGARAGE
      @VITOSGARAGE  Год назад

      Preventative maintenance is the key. I’d recommend you do the water pump and all those parts now before something fails. It’s not too difficult. As far as the headers, take them off and sand blast them or wire wheel and paint with high heat paint

    How do you get the tensioner assembly out?

    • @VITOSGARAGE
      @VITOSGARAGE  10 месяцев назад

      After taking the belt off, there are 2-3 bolts holding it in place. A few bolts also hold the power steering pump together. You might need to remove the power steering pump pulley and the fan pulley to get access to those bolts
