You got to play Magda, The Hoardmaster in your mono red 8fields deck. Can try Collector's Vault eith Daredevil loop to draw cards and also loop treasures! Synergistic deck.
Yes it's something I want to at some point. Honestly though I had to do a LOT of tinkering with the main deck to where I could start consistently winning, but I think I'm finally there. Hoardmaster requires taking the deck in a bit of a different direction, so I might turn to that after I get a few trophies with the main version under my belt, but I also might just say "screw it" and try going in a totally different direction ahead of schedule if I just can't break through with the traditional approach!
With affinity gaining traction right now, a couple copies of something like shattering spree wouldn’t be out of the question. And it gives you another way to kill off amulet of vigors. And any time you board it, it’s usually at least a two for one. I tend to play mono red goblins though so it may not translate as well to your more grindy decks.
I love spree, I used to play it a lot. I'm so angry at WOTC for making One Ring indestructible, forcing me to either not play it, or to have to play it in addition to partially redundant cards that actually deal with One Ring. I'm honestly considering quiting modern, but I probably won't until you all are fed up with it too
@@Magic_M_Hayashi Oh, that makes a lot of sense. Because my deck is more aggressive I’ve elected to ignore the one ring, but I don’t think that would work in this build. You are the king of these attrition decks btw, truly goated
@WingsofNine actually true... I think you're probably correct that Saga is still needed for it to shine, but it does seem very valid there! Especially if I'm main decking Relics, which do synergize with both Saga and Hoardmaster
For now I am also off Mazemind Tome in my Wb 8 Field list. It was always great in grindy matchups (for example absolutely destroying every Rack Deck). For Burn it was good as well, but in any other Matchups it was most of the time just slow. So for now I am back to a Stoneforge list with Bowmasters. And it felt really good so far. Just having a deck full of Bangers feels really nice. Had to cut some 4ths from the removal suite but it feels really solid and not as needed with just so many ways to pressure your opponents. Serra Paragon also just keeps being an absolute Bomb.
Very nice, and yup I know I still need to try Paragon! Just be patient with me, look how long it took me to really give Pick Your Poison it's fair shake!
I am also a bit tired with Modern. With the banning of Fury it felt like Wizards was taking a stance that black was the only color allowed to have solid midrange options. The removal is better, the creatures are better, and player interaction is better. Even in Pioneer, midrange is more interesting but still requires you to be in black to be competitive. Red is really only there for Fable.
I hear ya, fury to me was such a key piece that the deck doesn’t feel the same. It used to feel good, and for me messing up lands just feels slow. Maybe MH3 will give us more tools to help.
Haven't watched the whole league yet, but whats always also an option is Killing your own land with an LD spell. But I am with you that a 2nd Forest might be better.
Yea some people questioned playing a second basic in the past but it never really felt wrong, and we really saw how brutal it is when our one basic forest gets destroyed this league
Super sweet, but it kind of leads to flooding because it's not really utility in and of itself. If I didn't play 8 basics it wouldn't feel as punishing, but then again I need 8 basics to play 8 fields, and there's not much point in playing Citadel if I'm not playing 8 fields. I'm actually brainstorming playing this in some other decks with Mirrex because I think where Citadel is at it's best is when you have a constant Mana Sink you can keep sinking that extra mana into, if that makes sense.
@@Magic_M_Hayashithe big thing is that citadel turn 1 enables fields of ruin + a 1 drop on turn 2, and when you are on the draw vs certain strategy turn 3 is too late to start messing up their lands. Last time I played this archetype I played 8 fields, 8 basics, 4 citadel and 4 Saga. I just hope to fury to come back however.
@@pasqualesoldani1637 True, it was probably a mistake not playing it if I'm playing a splash, but honestly the splash just doesn't feel worth it overall. The deck is always at its best when Red itself is at its best.
Why 4 Ratchet Bomb and 2 The Filigree Sylex? that feels like a lot of redundant hate for decks that are not being played much. when do you bring it in other then Rhinos?
Hammer and Death Shadow, Dice Factory (hits all their chalices), token decks, better than nothing against Enchantress although admittedly not enough, I mean I'll grant you they aren't the type of card to knock one's socks off, but they are actually a lot more versatile than they might seem at first glance. That said, I find myself moving back to Blast Zone instead because being both a land and an effect like this is typically even more versatile.

what about trying a magda hoardmaster urzas saga modern build?
Hoard master's ability only triggers once, but revisiting Saga in general is possible, and I guess trying Hoardmaster too is also possible.
Thanks!
@@Magic_M_Hayashi You can trigger magda on opponent's turn too.

Wouldn't obsidian charmaw fit nicely in here? =)

Same with Castle Ardenvale imo.
Mirrex for non-white decks could be interesting 🤔
