Hey there, Greg here! Sorry, Saff. Didn’t think I’d come by someone Dropplegregging seven Deserts. I also don’t actually work for the client, but I’ll send out the Greg-net and nix this thing in the bud, bud.

Desert Ramp decks have honestly been my favorite decks to emerge from this standard. There are so many different ways to build them, and the desert ramp package allows for a really diverse budget brewing package! I've done brews with Oko crimes, desert burn, Goose Mother, Bant Control, etc. Definitely my new favorite archetype from the set!
so instead of near infinite mana into fireball you near infinitely clone common draft lands for the win, peak gameplay right over here man I love watching seth's brews
When you cast dopplegang for the first time and need to find the next one, copy as many spelunkings as possible and 1 bounce desert. bounce desert trigger on top, all returning deserts. (1 bounce desert and 2, that give you the GU you need for the next doppelgang. The others are whatever you want, just remember to tap the tokens for mana before bouncing them.) -> surveil a bunch. Now with each spelunking trigger, bring the bounc desert into play, tap it for mana and return it to hand for more surveiling. You only need the other deserts, to get GU. This way, you dig as deep as possible, while generating as much mana as possible.
@@gusstotts6079 Well, a small error anyways. You only get the surveil if you return ANOTHER desert. So you nmeed 2 Archways bouncing each other for my scenario to get the full surveil digging... Not that THAT should be much of a problem.
6:53 it does work fine if you're leyline binding, you just had to put the bounce triggers on top so the land would be in your hand before the spelunking returned from exile. Just like at 10:00 where you really should have stacked the triggers better, alternate bounce and spelunking so you can just keep replaying the same crime land and bouncing it again
I think there are times when Seth could just win in the first dopplegang just ramping out and reanimating deserts but he throws it away being too focused on searching for another dopplegang

Call the deck Doppleburn! Just wanted to say thank you for all you do, and you made me fall in love with dopplegang in the last budget deck. Can't wait to build this!
I was killed by this deck last week. Had me laughing the whole time trying to explain to my non-MTG-playing friends on Discord that this was not normal, haha Edit: The version I lost to was Bant. Elesh made sure those lands killed me double time.
Just wanted to say I appreciate the budget stuff, getting back into magic after years away from it and starting from scratch I really like seeing cheaper decks working
so you can stack the triggers so you vou bounce a single crime land and put it back into play, then repeat. You don't have to have each type of trigger happen together.
I think that for max damage you should alternate bounce land triggers with Splunking triggers. This would allow you to ping the opponent with each couple of triggers even if you only have one desert: bounce the desert, put it in play, tap for mana, and bounce it again with the next tigger
Been playing a similar brew to this for a week, really taking advantage of Dance of the Tumbleweed, Glimpse the Core, and Joint Exploration's 2cmc mana value with Arcane Proxy to flashback those spells.
Nice change on a lands deck :D Regarding the musings for non-budget: Advantage of bant is you can run Kutzil in the sideboard to keep enemy counters off. Bant jsut seems more resilient to me.
And grand abolisher now! And like he was saying Sunfall, but Depopulate is probably reasonable enough, especially with how fast something like boros convoke can build a board. Although I guess in this deck the difference of 1 mana in exchange for having a body and the exile is probably reasonable. Just musing on the potential.
I just tried building a self-mill desert combo, inspired by this build. It's not standard legal, but it's really fun. You drop a Hedron Crab, mill a half dozen lands into your graveyard, Aftermath Analyst them back, mill some more off the new lands, get back enough mana for your Scapeshift in hand, sac your World Shaper to your Altar of Dementia, and eventually go from 4 or 5 mana on turn 4, to 20 or so on turn 5 (or even still turn 4). Then, if you need to, you can always Dopplegang to mill or burn or just make several copies of whatever they're doing. It's a blast.
Great video, I love your janky budget build decks and all you do for the community. Played your 36 Wraith deck and loved it because it helped me with the Arena daily challenge to destroy opponents creatures. I was wondering if you would consider making more budget decks geared towards completing the Arena daily challenges.
Outside of the "cast x color or color spells" quests, there's attacking with creatures, playing lands, and killing opponents creatures. The playing lands I believe has to be you actually playing the land from hand, so the only thing that really speeds it up is "play additional land" effects. And for attack with creatures I believe you have to actually declare them as attackers, so creating attacking creatures/putting creature into play attacking don't work iirc. For destroy/kill creatures, I don't remember if exiling them counts towards the quest or not, but potentially something to keep in mind if you are trying to work on that one.
Yup, I absolutely fell in love with Doppelgang after seeing the caves video, built it myself, made a modified version for historic, one of my favorite decks to play (when it doesn't end in a draw error lol) definitely going to consider building this deck
I was hoping to brew a similar deck and send it over, but time hasn't been on my side lately (moving house soon). Glad you managed to make something work in Standard where I was struggling to have ideas (and somehow forgot about Doppelgang!) My main idea as been for Explorer and trying to get a combo turn out of cards like Scapeshift, World Shaper, Aftermath Analyst, and my favourite jank pairing of Mending of Dominaria into Fall of the Thran. Diabolic Intent works great with World Shaper and Stitcher's Supplier, too. There's a bunch of small synergy that feels good, I just haven't figured out the best combo pieces or amount of each card yet. Sharing for all to see. Let me know below if you want to give it a try and come up with something that works!
Yeah, unfortunately I've drawn way too many matches on Arena thanks to doppelgang causing an error. And it never feels consistent with when it happens. One of my favorite cards, but Arena just struggles to handle it.
For a brief moment, I wondered if you were gonna go so crazy with the value in that last game, you'd lose track of your token count and hit the token limit before getting a lethal amount of crime lands.
I was also worried for a second there, but unless I'm mathing doppelgang wrong, at x=10 that's still only 100 tokens + 6 shark triggers. IIRC the token limit is like 250? And he definitely had less than 100 tokens already on the board so he should have been fine as long he didn't cause the game to error out in a draw which would be more likely to happen lol
Do it! I brought to FNM this past week as-is in the video and went 2-1 but I messed up in game 4 and should have been 3-0 on the night. Last night i got the inkling to add 2 song of totentanz and doing well so far
The funny thing is that this list is basically 90% there when it comes to supporting three colors, at least as far as the mana base is concerned. Just tweak your crime lands a bit and swap a single basic and you've easily got 7-8 sources in your third color (since the Pylons are filter lands).
it really is. I can't tell you how many times I've had it in a combo deck and just won by copying 3-4 of the opponents things just because it is a kill.
I know its not really needed but the way you stack these triggers could be far more efficient by stacking the spelunking triggers between the bounce land triggers you can pick up and putdown the same few desert lands pinging the opp each time also tapping them before returning them to generate mana for the next dopplegang or frontier. I think the deck is sweet and I love it. And again I am not sure its needed but if you wanted to be efficient that is probably the best thing to maximize damage to close a game instead of hoping for a scry into another combo enabler. That said sweet deck Seth and I plan to make one. what about Nissa in the deck could this mean that you could win earler if you have her since she would see all these lands. Somewhere between the temur worldsoul deck and this is a crazy land as your only damage win deck lol. Thanks for content!
what if you add red to this deck. and use doppelganger to copy invasion of regatha. if you flip it your crime lands will do 3 dmg each. i dont think you can flip copies of battles. i have tried. but you can get the etb from them and use the 4 dmg to face or the other battles. i realized all you need is 1 regatha and 1 arcavious in play. the arcavious will fetch the dopplegang. cast for 8 mana and copy the regatha and the arcavious. then you will get 2 regatha triggers. 3 regathas total. use the 2 pings on the one arcavious to flip it. and also when dopplegang the arcavious it whould let you fetch 2 more dopplegangs. so when you use the next one you can target the 2 regatha. and it will be copied by the arcavious you flipped. if you flip one of the orgianal regathas. each ping will do 6 dmg. it also works with just a arcavios and a dopplegang in hand. fetch another dopplegang and lightning stikes and stoke the flames. then copy again to fetch the rest of the burn spells. and then flip with 2 burn spells. then the rest of the burn spells to the face will be doubled. takes a few turns and maybe some convoking for stoke the flames. or you could put farsight ritual in the sideboard and try dig for the regatha. or hit the mother lode.
Add red and you can pick up Worldsoul Rage (x damage to any target; put x land cards from hand and/or gy onto battlefield tapped, which are then untapped from Spelunking); this deck can already reach 20 mana and that would close the game immediately. Alternatively, at 14 mana you can Dopplegang for 3 then rr1 for Return the Favor and copy it. By going into black, you can Dig Up and use the cleave cost to find a copy of Dopplegang. Either way, I concur--by the time you hit 11 mana you have probably already won the game. With a little tweaking, this could be adapated for Pioneer to take advantage of landfall triggers and be even more broken.
@@viserproductions1 mana base for what though? D: and i made this deck! took all my rares, and i still needed a couple more. to the shop i went... granted, still cheaper than normal mtg.
I wonder if the Sandstorm Verge shouldn't be an echoing depths. It's minor but it could help a small bit with aggro, if you can bounce and replay while Spelunking is out, plus it has some minor combos with copying lands in the yard. Of course if you go non-budget then it's likely better off as a Festering Gulch/Creosote Heath, depending on which color direction you go.
Definitely looks like something I'd MUCH rather play on paper than on Arena. Absolutely love the concept though, since Simic is my favorite color combination and there's something hilarious to me about using ramping itself to kill the opponent.
Hey Saff, I replaced the creosote heath with an eroded canyon, and replaced an island with a mountain. Then replaced a glimpse the core and a dance of the tumbleweed for 2 pied pipers(Song of Totentanz) as an additional win condition. Pretty good so far!
Would love to see an against the odds with caustic bronco, using cards that cost 15+ mana and brainstorm and such to manipulate the top of your library to hit opponent for 15 in one atack
My green-blue commander deck has burn as one of its win cons. It has 10 infinite mana combos and 6 pieces of repeatable draw, so the win con depends on what it draws first. So all its win cons assume I already have unlimited mana and can draw cards at will. That combo is Unyaro Bee Sting, Soothsaying, and Reito Lantern. Cast Unyaro Bee Sting for 2 damage, tuck it with Reito Lantern, put it back to the top with Soothsaying, draw it, and repeat.
So technically for full efficiency you create some level of alternation between spelunking and bounce triggers to make sure you can always return deserts to surveil and also maximize pings. This is a tough balance to make sure you hit enough surveils to draws to dig as deep as possible
Gonna try this one out, but, for Arena friendliness, I am gonna try to squeeze it down to 8-9 rare/4-5 mythic setup. But, the most appeal comes from the non-counterability of land drops(just...watch out for 'Mom'...)
I wanna play the upgraded version in standard, plz post a link to what you'd upgrade it to!!! I don't play enough standard to know what the proper upgrades would be 😢

what if you add red to this deck. and use doppelganger to copy invasion of regatha. if you flip it your crime lands will do 3 dmg each. i dont think you can flip copies of battles. i have tried. but you can get the etb from them and use the 4 dmg to face or the other battles.
i realized all you need is 1 regatha and 1 arcavious in play. the arcavious will fetch the dopplegang. cast for 8 mana and copy the regatha and the arcavious. then you will get 2 regatha triggers. 3 regathas total. use the 2 pings on the one arcavious to flip it. and also when dopplegang the arcavious it whould let you fetch 2 more dopplegangs. so when you use the next one you can target the 2 regatha. and it will be copied by the arcavious you flipped. if you flip one of the orgianal regathas. each ping will do 6 dmg.
it also works with just a arcavios and a dopplegang in hand. fetch another dopplegang and lightning stikes and stoke the flames. then copy again to fetch the rest of the burn spells. and then flip with 2 burn spells. then the rest of the burn spells to the face will be doubled. takes a few turns and maybe some convoking for stoke the flames. or you could put farsight ritual in the sideboard and try dig for the regatha. or hit the mother lode.
this is the best MTG related thing I've ever seen
looking forward to the sultai follow up video
Are we allowed to blame Seth for triggering inflation in property prices for Crime Lands?
I knew you were gonna punt the first dopp by wanting to go spelunking in game 2. Love ya lolol
This is a sick deck, nice one staff 👌
Nothing like hearing ultra budget and 16 rare in the same sentence lol
Womp womp.
It’s ultra budget… on anything but arena. Because arena’s economy doesn’t care about the secondary market.
@@Cheerwine091 at least I don't have to mortgage my house to get a Mana base
@@viserproductions1 mana base for what though? D: and i made this deck! took all my rares, and i still needed a couple more. to the shop i went... granted, still cheaper than normal mtg.
@@ketchubb how the deck fares for you? I still short 4 rare atm for crafting this deck :(
7:33 watching Seth cast Dance of the Tumbleweeds and THEN get 3 more lands out after hurt my soul
So dopplegang is the 11 mana scapeshift in standard? Sounds hype
I imagine a few worldsoul's rage would do the trick, but playing the rat flute is fun!
This deck is a spiritual successor to the Great Aurora deck you made during Shadows Over Innistrad Standard.
What's next? Mono white ramp?!
Would love to see an against the odds with caustic bronco, using cards that cost 15+ mana and brainstorm and such to manipulate the top of your library to hit opponent for 15 in one atack
We have Yuriko at home
So, I saw your first 2 games, instantly started working on a Yarok Edh version of this
My green-blue commander deck has burn as one of its win cons.
In a ramp vs ramp matchup, the deck that goes bigger wins. So Domain should be a good matchup for this deck.
You should add goldvein hydra as an alternative win condition
Is the blue adventure enchantment worth it?
Can you weave the spelunking and arid archway triggers so that you are putting the same crime land into play every single time for guaranteed damage?
Yeah, that is possible too.
I was trying to build a deck using the crime deserts as the wincon. Trying to mill and recur them.
This is definitely more fun
So technically for full efficiency you create some level of alternation between spelunking and bounce triggers to make sure you can always return deserts to surveil and also maximize pings.
This is a tough balance to make sure you hit enough surveils to draws to dig as deep as possible
Gonna try this one out, but, for Arena friendliness, I am gonna try to squeeze it down to 8-9 rare/4-5 mythic setup. But, the most appeal comes from the non-counterability of land drops(just...watch out for 'Mom'...)
VERY bold in a slickshot world
This combo is completely unhinged and I love it.
I wanna play the upgraded version in standard, plz post a link to what you'd upgrade it to!!! I don't play enough standard to know what the proper upgrades would be 😢
