I've always enjoyed your take on playing mono colors as midrange decks but then the modern decks became a little to expensive for me. Now I'm getting into pauper and not many of the midrange decks interest me so I'm glad to see all your takes on the format
@@mysticalpotato447Well, Mono Red Obosh is now significantly cheaper now that Fury is banned at least. But not going to lie it was nice to have the option of playing it 😅
oh my god please do more pauper!!!! I dont even play pauper but seeing your style of midrange 4-of red that i could actually afford in paper and online is so cool. I love your decks and your grindy red style and aggro styles but i can never come close to affording them. But this I could actually afford bc it's pauper and get much of the same experience!!!!! Also I love that you got 8 of my favorite card reckless impulse. I tried playing that in my budget modern prowess deck but my deck swiftly got power crept and also suffered from not having fetches. Also I FUCKING LOVE experimental synthesizer!!!! oh my god it's so cool! I always get excited when you put it in your decks and make it good in modern. And to top it all off you even have a reshuffle affect that's as broken as campfire in the deck??? I didnt even know that card existed but WOW gain 2 life everytrun + reshuffle is the coolest thing. I love reshuffle infinite win cons in decks and so this deck is just so fucking cool to me. Ty for building it and sharing it. I may totally buy it and im looking forward to it!!!
Again, just a fangirl wanting to say that overall you've made me very happy with this video, especially since I can actually afford it. So again, as a fan of the mono red master himself, mhyashi, tysm for this video!!!! your deck building style and obscure card choices you make that let you outgrind hyper power crept 4 color mythic decks and other meta decks is one of the coolest things to see, and I love that youre porting that over into pauper to take down meta decks with your unique style. Very awesome!!!!
@@RandomCommenter955 Thank you so much for your heartfelt comment. I've always hoped that my content could be helpful to players, so it means a lot to me to hear this from you!
Pauper is always welcome, best format in the game right now, definitely should try out mono black, very strong color for mid range with options to deal with pretty much everything, as well as great card advantage through card draw spells and the monarch mechanic.
Finding Mogg War Marshal as the Value Creature this deck needs, is the exakt kind of ideas i love in your videos. Awesome Format, Awesome List, Awesome M Hayashi Gameplay!
I literally discovered your channel Just a couple days ago and i'm already addicted. Great commentary pre and post game (very Deep deck tech and discussion on every single card choice) and absolutely great decklists, you dare to try things and i was in need of mono-color lovers (Who also demonstrate that Is possible to win "on a budget" with the right techs and passion. Sorry for the long reading, Hope you'll upload loads of new Mono Red Post-Fury challenges (meanwhile i'll devour the last hundreds you made). Have a great day and Wish you the best for the channel.
Thank you so much for the passionate and heartfelt comment, it is the highest honor to hear this, and I will do my best to continue living up to it! Have a wonderful day as well, and all the best to you too!
Also, I would love to see you try your deck building style on other colors in this format! I love when you do that for modern and make really cool brews in other cools so it would be cool to see what you could come up with in the pauper card pool!
Welcome to Pauper the best format. I am thinking about this build and some options i think would be good in the side is Sulfurous Blast and Smash to Dust. Sulfurous Blast is that inbetween card for the 3 toughness creatures might work for a 1 of. Smash to Dust is great against walls and artifacts as well as 1 toughness creatures.
I wasn't aware Sulfurous Blast was reprinted at common, I remember this from Time Spiral! I'll keep it in mind, however, it does appear that at the moment, most "go wide" pauper decks seem to go wide with mostly one toughness creatures. As long as that's the case, Electrickery feels like it's best positioned. Smash to Dust was interesting when I saw it cast against me, however, somehow I just don't see that many must answer artifacts in the format (all that glitters doesn't count because I notice they almost always cast it on non-artifact creatures because they're scared of getting 2-for-1ed) Thanks for letting me know though, especially Blast is something that could be a very well positioned card in the future!
@@Jimson-wx8uq Yup, one of our first decks me and my brother played when we started MTG was Red-Green madness, and Fiery Temper, along with Firebolt, was quite the staple for us back then!
I tried it in an earlier build, but the problem is that I can't cycle it when I draw it off the Wrenn and Impulses (and Synthasizers). This results in missing a lot of land drops I otherwise would have been able to make had those actually been lands, if that makes sense.
Thanks Pauper Dad! Mono black seems fun too! It's possible your username made me think of pauper along with others who've encouraged me try the format too, thanks for the recommendations!
Worth to add Cast into the Fire to sideboard to struggle less vs Glitters deck? I am actually lifetime pauper player and quite struggling to understand what is happening here So many weird card choices just to enable Unholy Heat basically wow
I had artifact hate in the SB originally, but then I realized when they put Glitters on Thraben Inspectors or other non artifact creatures, artifact hate didn't do much. That said the win this league is increasing my confidence! As for what's going on, it's really just the same philosophy as my modern mono red Obosh/midrange deck just ported to Pioneer. It's the lost art of the mono red deck that isn't aggro or burn!
Kind of wonder if Skred would be a better pick than Unholy Heat since it seemed hard to turn on delirium and Skred could go beyond 6. Somewhat nonbo with Collapse but plays better with Relics.
Interesting idea! However, I've really been liking those furnaces, and its a bit of a non-bo with them. Heat most of the time can be fine as just a shock too, but it is nice that it can take down Tolarian Terror even with an unexpected fangs counter on it, which has come up for me in the past, so Unholy Heat hasn't really disappointed me. That said Skred is another good card for me to consider fir sure, thank you for reminding me that is a common too!
I am kinda baffled on how much damage your boros opponents missed out each game. Every time you kill a creature, while they have munitions out and enough mana open should be 1 dmg to you.
Yea but I think they were falling behind on the clock so that's why they weren't playing 100% optimally. I think they correctly realized that they would probably win unless they timed out, and in light of that, I can't really say they misplayed because they started playing way faster after their loss in g1 and probably won because of it more than anything
Oh yeah, this is super sweet. Thanks for pointing me to this video!
Glad you like it!

only problem mono black has is having no artifact removal. which makes the affinity matchup pretty horrendous.

In Pioneer, I would start with the Inti + Smuggler's Copter shell. You could also try Fiery Temper.
That's definitely a possibility, I'll try to keep that in mind when I finally get around to trying pioneer, thanks!
Fiery temper....I'm gonna have to refresh myself on that one......memory lane to the bank
Did they bring it back in a set recently?

would something like oliphaunt be a card we could play to have a "land" that scales into the late game?

Mans just reinvented burn but with campfires and called it midrange o.o
Kind of lol, but I play lots of non burn cards like Unholdy heat and War Marshall so still not quite burn although it can play like it sometimes.
