Today, we're playing Hollow Knight: Speedrunner vs. Hunters on Steel Soul, but with a new mod which means bosses will now spawn for Hunters! Can I kill The Hollow Knight before the Hunters kill me? Let's find out. For the full rules and credits for the game, look below!

▶ RULES
• The Speedrunner wins by defeating The Hollow Knight. Hunters win by killing the Speedrunner.
• Hunter Scaling: Hunters gain movement abilities when the Speedrunner does. Hunters gain a Nail Upgrade for each of the first three movement items the Speedrunner collects. Hunters gain a Mask after the Speedrunner collects two movement items.
• Speedrunner Pickup Limits: One Mask, one Vessel, one Nail Upgrade, two Charm Notches. One level 2 spell, one nail art.
• Banned Charms: Flukenest, Dashmaster, Grubberfly's Elegy, Nailmaster's Glory, Fragile Heart, Lifeblood Heart/Core, Joni's Blessing, Spore Shroom
• Lifelines: A Hunter may open their map to find the Speedrunner's area. Only one Hunter may open the map per lifeline and should not hold it open for more than fifteen seconds. A lifeline can be used every fifteen minutes.
• Sound Effects: A sound broadcasts when the speedrunner: uses the Dream Nail for an objective, purchases a toll, completes a mask or vessel, purchases any item, uses a tram.
• Hunters start above King's Pass. One with the Speedrunner, and one each subsequent minute.
• The Speedrunner cannot hear the Hunter voice call.

• ALL players do not receive healing from sitting on benches or entering dream boss arenas.
• ALL players cannot use stags.
• ALL players do not spawn shades or receive penalties from dying.
• ALL players have small elevators removed and platforms replace them.
• ALL players can instantly travel through large elevator shafts.
• SPEEDRUNNERS have added platforms to navigate shade skip locations IF they have the loadout required to perform that shade skip.
• HUNTERS have added platforms to navigate shade skips locations no matter what their loadout is.
• HUNTERS have enemies removed, but bosses still enabled.
• HUNTERS will auto-spawn certain bosses such as Dream Warriors if in close proximity.
• HUNTERS cannot collect lifeblood seeds from the world.

• HUNTERS heal slower, and their focus cost is higher.

When they lose track, their first guess is almost always where he’s going, and the first time he gave them the slip, they used the map at a very optimal time.
I was actually struggling to edit this one at several points because of this LMAO. It was really fun trying to figure out exactly what to keep in since they were chasing him so often. Genuinely great work on the hunters’ end!

Because they know his way of thinking now. They know when he likes to hide or what he is capable of doing. It's like psychological profile or something. When your friend likes to hide in the same spot in hide and seek in real life and you already predict their hiding spot. I remember one time they said that he may be somewhere and someone responded "that early!?" and the other person replied back "it's fire, he could be doing this". Because they know what he is capable of. Still, he actually wasn't there at that time, but I remember they take into consideration something he could do. Also when he got certain items, they know what other items/possibilities are left. Like he has to go through False Knight at some point. Sooner or later. But I know what you mean. It was fun to watch. There was enough them predicting his movements but also him bamboozling them totally.
@@PyeFive Is there some kind of set limit you or fire want to give so video is not too long? Because from my perspective, I wouldn't mind longer videos if there were more fun and interesting moments. And I think other people think the same. It's already quite long video, so people that watch it, wouldn't probably mean additional 15 minutes of content, right? Even 30 more minutes if needed.

This group of hunters is one of the best I've seen on the channel. Shelby knows how Fire reacts under pressure and was constantly on his tail giving him no time to think. Hardcore is a strategist who kept the callouts coming and the teamwork strong. Hope is the wildcard, it felt like they could pop up anywhere to unexpectedly throw a wrench into Fire's plans. Hunthussle has massive intimidation factor, it's clear that he's put in the work to hone his skills across many kinds of gameplay Hollow Knight has to offer.
Most importantly, everyone in this video sounded like they had fun playing together.
I hope one of these times, fire just ignores dreamers and jukes everybody by getting the godhome ending.

He would rush and get lurien and monomon, (to unlock in pantheon) and then they would just stack at deepnest, after a little while they'll start panicing and start hanging out near black egg, then they would see in chat "pause. wings acquired"

I'd love to see it but unfortunately you can't ignore dreamers for P5 ending - White Defender is one of the requirements, and he only spawns after all 3 dreamers have been collected.

Hunt vs Fire is always very fun to watch, but adding Hope and Shelby tracking Fire like bloodhounds and Hardcore just appearing in front of him on the screen makes it so much better. I love these HvS where you actually have to fight tooth and nail just to stay ahead of them, it shows your insane speed runner techs and makes them look just as impressive, instead of you zipping through and them flopping around like dead fish. GG!

I love how these matches go back and forth between Fire wildly underestimating the hunters' strategies, and the Hunters wildly underestimating Fire's strategies ! Always so entertaining to watch ❤️

From someone who has a laugh like that: laughing "normally" gave me hiccups for several minutes or even over an hour, so I started to breathe in air while laughing by instinct. The "reversed" part is her breathing in air.

Feel like I say it on every video, but the format keeps getting better! The new mod for upgrading hunters is nice for not breaking the flow of the video, and I'm sure it's even more convenient for the people actually playing

Some awesome movement in this one! I don't know if I've ever seen that pogo skip back up out of Crystal Peak
Yeah that pogo skip is one of the hardest background pogos in the game to hit. Not to mention reseting it takes a bit and is nigh-impossible with hunters on your back too
The start is always SO rough because the runner just doesn't have many locations to work with. Same problem when going for the last dreamer.
What if the runner could start with one secret upgrade? The hunters could try to reason out which check isn't needed. It could be a dreamer or claw or dash or VS, etc. If this sounds too powerful, note that it's very easy to buff hunters by providing them just a little information, like an early lifeline.
Also, what if the runner could choose another upgrade to swap to another location? Hunters don't know which upgrade or which location, but there's a limited list of possible locations, like it has to be behind a boss. Maybe the hunters could even get a short list of bosses where one of them had this bonus item.
This. I honestly am finding I prefer the earlier videos where he could sneak around a lot, they didn't know every move, he had mor eoptions. Now it's just like constant combat and chasing and feels heavily weighted towards the hunters. Which is just not entertaining to me.
@SailorMusicCat while it is fun to watch fire twist their brains in knots, he's mentioned that when the hunters are in the dark, it makes their perspectives very boring since the map is big and if they guess wrong then it's a long walk back.
I wonder if a rando could be incorporated here? Like just randomising charms with other charms, or dreamers and orher boss fight rewards.
@@samstark568True, but perhaps give the hunters dreamgate with a small cooldown? Like every 5-10 minutes per hunter. Or perhaps a benchwarp instead?

I love that you show the failures, that you let us see the struggles. Because let's be honest, if you win only 20% of attempts, that's still incredibly impressive. While it's nice to see another Speedrunner vs Hunters video, I feel the amount of restrictions in place now for Fire and the bonuses for the Hunters is making all the recent videos like this feel very "samey".
I kinda miss the jukes and unusual plays from the older videos
Yeah. It's just constant chasing and combat and a lot less nice sneaks and jukes. I am definitely finding I like the older videos a lot better than the latest Hunters vs Speedrunner. Before we'd get cool plays and jukes. Now they just tend to know his every move because of the restrictions on him and the buffs on them.
Yeah, they really ought to make modifications to the game so it's not just a constant game of chase and tag.

This is definitely one the best speed runner vs hunter videos yet. The hunters' coordination is especially great. Props to fire for surviving the constant ambushes and group fights so well

About Rusted Moss. Never played it, but you got me with "you can break these sequences if you're clever enough". That's what I've been doing in Ori and the Blind Forest. I was going to the places I were "not" supposed to be. Not by bugs. But just because I knew how to do it in terms of using skills *legitimately* to do something that you normally wouldn't.
Also either you have to mention this game somewhere else or I've got it from other place, but I have it already wishlisted.
New rules are intriguing. And cool that there is a new mod for auto Hunter upgrades. It sounds like something impossible to implement, yet someone made it! Good job, Korz/ExtremelyD1!

IMO the platforms in Greenpath for the Hunters are unfair advantage. You have to still use the soul, but they don't.

Loved how intense the match was, but honestly hope you can find a ruleset that manages to go back to the old playstyle of mega stealth. I understand the balance behind that is complicated but I was so engaged watching the routes and skips you would use some times just to confuse or completely avoid the hunters. Great vids either way!

I still think the one thing that could be improved about these runs is the fact that once fire gets the dreamers the hunters can just sit confidently at black egg temple, and it kinda means that the endgame for each run ends up the same. I kinda wish there were some other goals he could accomplish to make the Hunters have to worry about what he might be doing aside from the dreamers, but so far every time something like that has come up (ahem nailmaster’s glory) it always ends up banned in the next hunt because of the fact it works so well. I hope that at some point they expand the limits of what items he can get again instead of just always narrowing it, but I guess we’ll have to see.

Great plays by the hunters! They had amazing calls the whole run.
Really liked the no stag rule, and the limits to the upgrades. I liked those limitations because it made it harder for Fire to run away/have a different goal to do a quick pivot to when surrounded.

Honestly what would be interesting is to have not one but TWO speedrunner against obviously more hunters than usually. It would open sooo mcuh more possible strategies for both team

I always feel like the hunters underestimate fire. Hes gonna outmaneuver you, he’s probably gonna beat you 1v1, and he has a lot of Player v Hunters experience. In this video however the teamwork and communication was really spot on! Future hunters should take notes

As a punishment for Blue loosing in a VS video, you should fight him IRL but in actuality and with no notice, or warning fly to where he lives and leg sweep him.
