I would like fast sweep enroute & slow sweep on scene. Our oldest Engine has a mini surface mounted rotator light on the front above the grill & I'm gonna try to convince the powers that be to put one of these on its replacement in a couple years, hopefully in green.

I wish there was a way to set a primary and secondary pattern. As far as I can tell you can only scroll through them and leave one set.

I am curious if these are batch ordered by DOT somewhere or if it is left over from the fire truck companies that use them on the officer's side of some engines.

@MOPARGuy Are they? I guess that depends on your definition of "easy" when it comes to ordering things. I mean no one hikes 40 miles up hill both ways to buy lights, so spending money isn't "hard" I suppose. I looked into ordering one for a truck we were spec-ing out through my apparatus vendor and they gave it a huge lead time. It was noted as "special order, color batch produced to order". I guess it isn't "hard" to get them because I'm just waiting, not building them or fighting a pack of wolves for them. I think what people, including me, mean is it's not something you can go to an online dealer and select "green" at checkout. It isn't one of the many products Whelen makes in green as a normal option and lists in their green line.

I wish Whelen did something similar to what Federal Sognal did with LED SLR rotators. I just don’t think LED mimicking rotating lights can ever be same as true rotators.

I think what it lacks in rotation it makes up for in removing the mechanical motor. I also don't think these or the SLR are as bright as simply flashing the LEDs. Rotating is a cool throwback, but it doesn't really add much warning power wise when LEDs are concerned.
