      Yeah the Virtual Machine: Yes is a bit of a giveaway some scammers check and as far as I know you can't mask that like you can other stuff.

      OhNoNotMyPenis There are softwares to hide files and processes on a pc wouldn't that work?

    • @DONK8008
      @DONK8008 7 лет назад

      You can mask VMware process and hardware ID's but I don't think you can hide the Virtual Machine tag in task manager. Windows 7 does not show that in task manager so that is the best OS to use as some of the scammers now check to make sure it's not a VM before doing anything.

      It's actually the case that many of the people at the call answering level are almost as scammed as the people they are scamming. Many are told that what they are doing is going to work them up through the tech levels and they will earn an MCE. They are also usually pulled from the more uneducated group where the little they get paid for answer the call and setting up the scam is actually a fortune they could ever hope to make. They are basically given this script to run and most are either too uneducated to know the BS they are spewing or even if they catch on they are not going to rock the boat as they have a job they could never have hoped to have in a million years otherwise. Many do it because of the lure of the being grated a MCE; that they can say they work for Microsoft. This guy does not seem to be one of those, but when you hit one that is hyper about rejecting the idea that they are not helping but scamming, that they have 'fixed' the computer, its probably one being as scammed about their position as they are running a scam script. This scammer is not a low end hire, not sounding so 'american'. There are actually US based scammers that run this scam in the US but they are very quickly get taken down. Also. you see more and more ads for online jobs where they are looking for people to work online through the Indian call center but can work from their home over a VPN and really help drive the scam up a notch. These 'jobs' usually promise the very uneducated a way to get 'on the job training that will result in an MCE and there are many out there that will take and keep a job like this, even if they know its a scam, because they otherwise could never have a job like this. If this is a Indian, he has obviously been educated abroad or else is an american and in either case would be worth his weight in gold as most people do not think 'scammer' with someone with an american accent. He not only knows its a scam but is totally complicite in it. It was pretty obvious once he was accused of being a scammer he just did not bother to argue as he knows he was caught and he just swore and hung up. These are actually the most dangerous scammers to have out there because they sound so 'american' people are often not suspicious ate all or excuse themselves for not knowing they were being scammed because the call did not come from a foreigner. The same goes if they can get a person who sounds like they are western EU or from the US or Canada or Australia to run and IRS or other government scam. Many people are getting more and more savvy to not trusting someone with a heavy accent, especially a heavy Indian accent but then will tell us that they thought the whole thing was true because the tech did not 'have a foreign accent'. That is one good way to get a scammer really flustered is when its a government scam,IRS or Grants for example is to feign not being able to understand and ask for someone who speaks 'american'. If they reply that there is no native english speaker in their department then sit around not believing that a government office in the nation's capital does not have any one with English as first language and they get very flustered. This is a good way to ferret out if they have any real english speakers involved in the scam as they will actually 'transfer' you.

      He's definitely got some American going on, but it's kind of a mix of accents.
      He pulled out the FTC references, so only an American scammer would know that, except he doesn't use the FTC in the right way.

    • @sterlingarcher6079
      @sterlingarcher6079 7 лет назад +2

      Christopher Gray the only scam cases that are enforced in America are large scale stuff that's easy to work on. I.e Bernie maydoff.
      The issue with online and phone scammers is that they are hard to catch and the investigations have to cross state and national lines. Virtually impossible to catch these type of scammers. And the Feds don't have the resources to deal with it. They are more concerned with terrorisim.
      Said all that to say this. The best revenge against these scammers is to fuck with them relentlessly. Just be careful and use vpn, burner phones, etc. give me hell.

    2 "virtual" processors could just be a single core with two threads. My host OS says I have four virtual processors, because i have a dual-core CPU with two double-threaded cores

    • @ProXPro106
      @ProXPro106 6 лет назад +1

      Creeperguy555 not quite. Hyperthreading is just a trademark for Intel processors. I believe it is called multi-threading for AMD. Just because a processor has more threads than cores does not mean those are entirely different cores. If a processor is equipped with hyperthreading or multi-threading technology, it just has what we call "logical" cores. What this means is that the load will be ordered in the most efficient way possible for the 2 actual cores to process so that it seems like the load is handled by 4 cores.

    I gotta admit, "Noah" is effective. Unlike his Indian colleagues, he understands the value of chatting and being friendly with the victim (i.e. social engineering). Telling that story about living in Florida and talking about the Pennsylvania snow in winter is way more effective than running a BS tree command as a wirus scan, barking orders to buy gift cards, or demanding to turn on the computer.
