I was literally working out listening to you guys. This is a great conversation. I love what Zoya said about working out 10 min a day is better than a long work out twice a week. I work out 20min a day and do 5min mindfulness practice after. It’s great. With portion control, it’s working really really well for me.

I appreciated how you all shared your opinions on important topics in the last episode. I was impressed by Brij for bringing up the medical fact that alcohol is bad for health. However, my top grade goes to Zoya for highlighting the issue of females being criticized for eating a full meal and being told they eat "too much."

One of the best episodes...i started exercise way way late in my life(36+) and am still cursing myself why it take so long...also with the working life...i dont know how long this honeymoon phase will last...Brij's fundamentals are very clear...Gym is useful for women as well especially strength training(useful for all independent of gender)...also diet is most important...and agree with his rant on how Indian people cannot gain same muscle as white counterparts(is it due to fact that they are majority non-veg and Indians aren't?)....i feel jealous of watching such episodes where people at young age have access and direction to right things in life(i.e gym or any form of consistent exercise) which primarily helps in self worth and confidence, more than the obvious physical benefits..kudos.

I'm a woman diagnosed with ADHD at 29-- many things Zoya says though several podcasts deeply resonate with me. I respectfully wonder if she may be neurodivergent as well. Examples: movement helping with clarity, collector and sharer of many wonderful facts, very intelligent, and difficulties with being on time. The episode where she took responsibility for being late and some family members mentioned it was the fourth time and it is a matter of respect, and that she would not have been late to a business meeting or other such event really reminded me of many of my interactions. As a person with time blindness, I don't share with others how often I was truly late because I was deeply ashamed and thought something was wrong with me. Also, another presentation of ADHD is what others consider to be "careless mistakes" such as when Zoya set her alarm or notification for 1pm instead of 10am. I only got diagnosed because someone else mentioned it to me.
Also, these podcasts are just snapshots of her life and this could just be me noticing things I relate to as an ADHDer and focusing on them and not thinking about reasons she would be different from me. She could also be neurotypical. I just wanted to mention in just in case it could be helpful. Diagnosis allowed me to understand my brain and forgive myself for being different. Sending good vibes.

Absolutely loved the latest episode! Thanks for inviting us into your family chat. My wellness journey began with intermittent fasting, weightlifting, yoga, and walking, but it took a transformative turn when I discovered meditation. It's been surprisingly more effective than anything else I've tried. I strongly advocate for integrating meditation into our exercise and diet routines. While meditation is traditionally associated with spiritual growth, its profound impact on both physical health and mental well-being is unparalleled in my experience. Wish you all the best with fun family podcast !!!

I absolutely loved loved this episode. So many excellent points. Zoya’s on how women wear gym clothes (still fashionable) all day and this motivates them to exercise more. I live in Athleta clothes basically and it matters. Shalabh’s point on men grooming- this is so important for all men I believe. It is so simple and so much appreciated by women. I loved how Brij mentioned that he exercises to look good. Well done to all! It was a joy watching.

A+ to Zoya for her comment about even just 10 mins per day is enough, it's the consistency/daily effort that counts over time - because that is what I do. I pick one or two small exercises and do those for 10 mins only and it's been just fine :)) 🙌🙌

Specifically about exercising-as a physical therapist working for the last 15years the smallest tip I can suggest is ‘Moderate Intensity’ exercises These could be 3 days of 50mins or 5 days of 30mins.Mix it up with resistance training and cardio.Yes,walking counts! But as Zarna said -you shouldn’t be able to hold a conversation while walking. That’s the right pace!

Eating is such a great tip for South Asian women! So many women in my mom’s generation just do not eat enough.

Such great suggestions from all the Gargs! I want to give my A+ to Zoya for discussing how growing up with a mother who ate full, nourishing meals was instrumental in forming her own attitudes towards health, fitness and food. Too many women have such mixed emotions towards eating and food, so kudos to Zoya for highlighting this, and to Zarna for being such a great role model in this arena.
I was so looking forward to this episode, because last episode -- "Let's Roast Mom" -- made me afraid there would never be another one! Kudos to Zarna and all of you for rolling with the punches and making the next podcast.

I like this topic. I feel everyone was spot on with living mindfully. I’ve been doing everything you all say. I wish you spoke about time restricted eating more. That too started in India!! I’m with Zarna on protein shakes, I’m not a fan of those. Sleeping, I think Zoya brought that up, is one I have to work on. Finding inspiration to keep you moving is key whether it be clothes, shoes or friends. Zoya and Shalabh had many many good points but I’ll give A grade to Brij in his articulate explanation of cells and alcohol drinking. Very mature and, yes, pre-med.

Zarna , so relate to you on this one and the Indian woman’s struggle to go to a gym and lift weights! However people dont seem to acknowledge the real weight we carry 24/7 on behalf of our families , kids , home , extended family , friends , parents , in laws !!! Ha ha ha maybe that’s why our bodies resist so much . Because I think we carry a lot of weight already ! You could have a spin off on the Indian women’s struggle with exercise!

A+ to Shalabh, for talking positively about grooming, because grooming is a sure sign of self-love.

In india ..things are not like that now. . Women below 30 go to gym a lot. Even after 40 women have started going to gyms (my mom 53 goes regularly) ...and this is a town I am talking about. Cities have even more gym goers. There are women only gyms available also. And the point where zarna mentioned that she feels intimidated- In gyms in india there are already 5-6 trainers to teach you and if you want very advanced and personalized training then you can hire a personal trainer.

Shalabh breakfast is the most important meal of the day. There is no knowledgeable doctor who will tell you to skip breakfast. Ofcourse the breakfast should be super healthy, but it is definitely not a good thing to skip breakfast out of all the meals.
And also, you're super funny 😁😁

Actually.."breakfast" break fast is really just the first thing you consume upon waking, regardless of what time you eat it.

I was told that every 3500 steps is worth one pound. Keep the walking consistent like Zoya was saying. The 10000 steps is worth trying, because you stress relief and keeps you in motion when you're walking you could get a meeting done. Walking briskly or speed walking is necessary.

I am at 19:19 and I know Aunty Z is going to give Brij the A grade. Will comment back to see if that happens. Brij just earned 100k brownie points: “My son is going to be a doctor” 😂😂😂

And… 🥁 both parents gave their A grades to Brij! I love how all Indian parents see traits of pre-med and their eyes light up and their hearts are on 🔥 immediately!

10:00 There is some method in bulking up muscles - frequency and intensity of exercise, muscle recovery time, food/supplementation for muscle gain. … Also, just a thought, observe and compare the daily food intake of your white friends and your family’s daily food intake.
