    I like to keep in the back of my mind that whatever I'm pointing at is "trying to kill me", so getting a little mad helps concentration and builds your stress management. Thanks Myles, it's easy to forget the basics!

    The advice on the thumbs was spot on! I've given similar advice,honestly it was because the shooter had small hands & didn't feel comfortable w/open thumbs.

    Great advice. I know that many of us old people started with revolvers as our defensive tools. We had a grip that would hold the gun but not get wrecked by the gas escaping the barrel cylinder gap. When we transitioned to semi autos we tended to grip them the same and then the young people said we were doing it all wrong even though our results on the range was better than theirs. Go figure.

    Like the point you made about the thumbs not being necessary...I think so much is made of thumbs forward that it took me about a year to experiment and found that a thumbs up grip works better for me. But all the gun tubers would have you think that this is incorrect

    Glad you mentioned the thumbs, because I was at the range last week, & saw a 2nd-timer with just an awful grip (support hand gripping his wrist). When I showed him how to use his support hand, he asked about what to do with his thumbs, & I said to keep them in-line, but I didn't push the thumbs so much as his wrist-grip. ...In comparison to his grip, I mentioned that the "tea-cup" grip was just as unhelpful.

    For a beginner shooter starting to train. Should they start with the smallest caliber / less recoil and work your way up? What caliber is recommended to start off with?

    Yeah, on your support hand should you put your finger in front of the trigger guard to make it even firmer in your hand???

    • @FishFind3000
      @FishFind3000 Год назад +3

      I don’t. It’s personal preference for me. If I ever put my finger on the front of the trigger guard it would always fly off after the first shot. I also run a weapon mounted light so I can’t put my finger their anyway.
