Friendly neighbourhood Judo black belt here.
Well, there is a lot to be said in this match.
0:30 First of all, we judokas (both new school and traditional) don't learn any locks that involve the legs, besides one kata that is for black belt fifth dan (quit a bit further away from my scope lol). He didn't secure the lock on the ankle ruclips.net/video/tlhMv5tgHgQ/видео.html&ab_channel=Chadi ruclips.net/user/shortsDDhGmI7CI0A
2:11 And now the awaited moment. It could be a ouchi maki komi (o uchi gari falling to the ground with him) ruclips.net/video/sSEaC2Y1-e0/видео.html&ab_channel=EfficientJudo , but the leg is behind him, not between his legs. Therefore it's a tani otoshi ruclips.net/video/FIm6V2sAgb8/видео.html&ab_channel=Ochiru.
The issue was that he didn't turn properly when executing the throw, usually you want your hand to be on their lower back and turn lighthly when falling so when they fall they don't fall on your shoulder. That's what happened, he might've dislocated his shoulder when falling as he turned a lot with his shoulder in a bad position due to his hand placement and throw direction.
It's nice that you want to learn about throws, that ko uchi maki komi analysis was quite decent for someone that doesn't practice Judo! By the way, the double leg takedown in Judo is called Morote Gari, so you were 50% right on that one!
To end the analysis, I'm sure that this Judo guy did some Jiu Jitsu, as we don't do the imanari roll, but I'm a bit shocked here that if he did do Jiu Jitsu didn't go for a choke or armbar when he got that tani otoshi. I need the opinion of my BJJ brothers here. This guy is too skilled with an imanari roll, but then he can't secure it. Thougths?.
Maybe he did wrestling i think in wrestling imanari roll is practiced. That would mean why he didnt went for a choke or armbar.
"I'm a bit shocked here that if he did do Jiu Jitsu didn't go for a choke or armbar when he got that tani otoshi."
Well if he indeed dislocate his own shoulder dropping like that into tani otoshi, he can't go for those. If that's not the case.. the guy has his head locked anyway. There might be a ton of stuff missing from his regular game, as the opponent isn't wearing a gi.
Tough old school judokas did learn leg grab techniques maybe when he trained they indeed learned that stuff. Tough i remember learning to do transitions into leg grabs couchi gari-into leg grab and other stuff, i still never learnt the imanari roll, but we did learnt flying juji gatame (i dont recall the actual name)
The imanari isn't that hard to do, certainly going by the number of blue and white belts I've seen use it. Plus he's doing it against a non-grappler. But his actual leglock game was poor. Little control meant no finish.
It was a kind of weird body lock\tani otoshi hybrid throw. Maybe the tight body lock with his arms contributed to the dislocation?
@@adriafro7321 This. And leg locks. Forbidden judo, not competition.
That imanari roll was absolutely savage
Ryan Hall would definitely give applause..
It's sad that they removed it from judo
jerry reaction even more savage 👀👀😝😝😝
This a prime example of when people say "Judo does not work without a gi" when in fact it does. Also a prime example of why you should know grappling and striking
Judo has almost every Takedown that has ever existed, the fact that they practice *most* of them with a gi does not mean that it will onlu work with one. For example, the throw "O Goshi" is done in Judo by grabbing the Gi or Obi (belt) but you can do it with just a deep underhook, which is how i do it in No Gi. Almost every Judo throw has a no gi version, unless we are talking about throws that 100% have to use the gi like Korean Seoi Nage and Sode Tsurikomi Goshi, but those have versions that do not use the gi anyways
yeah.... actually..... most people walk on street with cloths on..... even the attackers. so a gi actually mimics real cloths. like you said....judo has like over 100 takedowns that doesn't involve grabbing the gi.
It's genuinely annoying how guys I know diss judo cz they use gi's
@@mrpisOP lol rip
Judoka probably had a pre existing injury that made his shoulder more prone to dislocation. Subluxation or something.
What's Subluxation?
@@FightCommentary a health condition caused by a series of dislocations of a joint that leaves it weakened and prone to dislovate or have other injuries. Common in martial arts with lots or rolling and falling.
This happened to Josh Barnett, when he fought Mirko Cro Cop in their first match.
I’ll have to look that up! Sounds like a crazy match!
BEAUTIFUL Imanari Roll at the beginning
2:20 This wasn't a dislocation nor a submission via lock. See, Judo guy was still able to throw several left hand punches after they went down. Judo guy probably tore something (likely rotator cuff injury). When you tear a tendon or joint, the pain is usually quite delayed, he probably didn't even realize it until he started throwing punches. Then the pain just kept steadily escalating.
That roll he does -my god man that was like a movie.
The double leg is called "Morote Gari" and it is done differently in Judo as you are not supposed to lift your opponent, you just pull their legs into your while driving them forward, which is also done in Wrestling sometimes, but people in there usually lift their opponent as well
The Judoka was a Very bad newaza good Throws but in a real Match you have to be a Good Newaza to finish the fight, The Video bring me a nostalgia Judo are the first martial arts I treined.
Judoka may have trained BJJ & MT guy has more of a Wing Chun stance. Must be a beginner.
Exactly what I was thinking about the “Muay Thai” guy.
No
Judoka train the same.
Bjj just copied it.
Bjj is Judo Newaza.
Thats it.
If you train Judo you train Bjj.
In the before times, in Sambo I realized the Imanari roll is not for me...like I knew it was dope but I knew I would never commit to when it counted haha
The last throw I’d say Kosoto gari or gake.
As I said above
I've heard that roll comes from wrestling, the catch as catch can variety not WWF or similares.
It comes from 150 years ago in Japan like the other 95% of submissions we see today. Kamura came later he also happened to be a Judoka. We've had a couple new ones over the years tks to BJJ experimentation but nothing ground breaking. You can only manipulate the body in so many new ways.
@@zartic4life have you read any historic document, about European wrestling? Some are over six hundred years old.
To state every submission comes from Japan and it is 150 years old top is a tad bold. Besides European wrestling and ancient greek or indian wrestling you also have Japanese Ryu and Koryu that are older than 150 years.
Kosoto Gari is performed from the outside, and the side, so difficult to get the chest/belly facing position if you go to the mat, so you have to scramble into position, and if you go to the mat, it's common to have your opponent landing on your left arm, as that's the down side. The guest Judoka demonstrated Kouchi Gari, performed facing on the inside - a better throw to enter guard from.
I feel bad for Jerry, there's so many bots in the comment section 😔
Anyways, that roll was awesome, kinda disappointed his arm just said "no" glad you're back is feeling better
As a solipsist I can assure you everyone here is a bot, except me. And that includes you.
When you see those dumb bots, make sure to NEVER Engage them. I try to block them ASAP, but there are so many.
The final takedown was kosoto gari. The shoulder dislocation is not obvious, given that is was the left, the side away form the camera, but that stuff absolutely happens.
The throw was Kosoto Gake (the reap version of Kosoto Gari, which is a foot sweep).
I'm looking at the mechanism of the Kosoto Gake, looks different: ruclips.net/video/HfU9mAYpZ5k/видео.html
I pinned a judo black belt's comments on it. Check out our viewer Dario's analysis.
Gari is reap, gake is hook.
@@ronin2167 Correct. My mistake.
His Muay Thai form is called: Muay Chaiya. It is one of ancient form of Muay Thai (aka muay boran) from Southern Thailand. This form contains grappling, takedown, and ground games. Yeah it is different from modern Muay Thai.
I think the judoka was asking to get hit shoulder fixed to continue the match. Wouldn't be the first time. Old school Judo is a different beast. Not healthy but savage nonetheless.
Bro, in no way is that anything related to ouchi gari. It is also not tani otoshi, in which tori takes BOTH of uke’s legs from behind. The mechanism of the throw is similar to tani otoshi though.
Bad luck on the shoulder pop. That roll was awesome though. Great match, but yeah, too short.
Basically Just Judo
Jerry, are you sure the guy is an actual Muai Thai fighter? I mean, if you take a look at 1:40 mark in the video, he seems to be moving his hands more like a Wing Chun practitioner.
"If he performed badly, he's not muay thai" all of you are the same
He is a practitioner of Muay Chaiya, one of ancient form of Muay Thai (aka muay boran) from Southern Thailand. This form contains grappling, takedown, and ground games. Yeah it is different from modern Muay Thai.
Judo and Muay thai would be a op combination if you train both there is no way someone can get near you.
I agree, the judoka learned some jiujitsu but looks like not enough to secure great submissions to end the fight. He struggled to get an ankle lock where an experienced jujitsu man would have transitioned into a different submission if required.
im traing MT myself and has never been a big fan of judo before but sad judo guy lost, he really put his heart in it it seems...
That was no double-leg, he didn't even grab the legs. It looked a lot like the body fold takedown from gracie combatives, don't know what it's called in judo.
That imanari was sick.
I tried a few Judo classes to supplement my BJJ training. Be prepared to do lots of break falls and rolls as warm up.
Probably judokan also practice other disciplines such as Kyokushin, boxing or maybe Kudo, , tell you what,, judo is tough and to those never practice it. .
This guy, is a quater of everything. Apparently not a quater of a mathematician ;)
🔥
that fast kick to the face, bet Mt didnt expect that, lol😂😂
WTF! Judo black belt took down a Muay Thai guy and got his own shoulder dislocated by a.Muay Thai fighter with zero ground fighting skills. What a shame!
That judo guy was pretty gutsy.
the last throw seems like kosoto gari or gake
It's tani otoshi but I have no idea how his shoulder popped out
A good judoka is great to watch.
the thai has a muay boran stance and guard, that's cool you don't see that very often
I guess he tried to adapt to a lower stand to try defend take down. Which interesting since Muay Boran has a very low stand, unlike modern Muay Thai. This raised a question, does Muay Boran also have wrestling technique then?
@@mr.q337 i think it does, those were fights without rules back then, kinda like valetudo
That is not MT
Judo in my Heart 💪❤️
Judo not only had all those techniques... That's where BJJ got them. Modern Judo, due the Olympic committee influence, rarely teaches them, but they are still part of the curriculum. They were in the manual I got when I did Judo as a kid.
The throw is tani-otoshi
love how jerry always root for the underdogs 😊😊😊
"Brazilian jiu jitsu is a watered down version of Judo" - Don Frye
0:38
wth BJJ guys never use that roll in UFC??😩😩😵😵
yeah im beginning to seriously consider training judo this year guys,,notmjust bcuz ofmthis vid tho, lol😅, judo is underated, but i believe u need all three to be an efficient fighter like either, boxing+judo or muay thai +bjj u NEED to know at least BASIC striking AND BASIC ground fighting knowledge to have an effective self defence toolkit, and mine is sadly only good for strikimg so far...😓😓
That's a shame, very common takedown in judo, wrestling and mma, just a 1 in 1000 accident that he didn't land right.
Not same weight category one is much heavier.
"Morote Gari" - Double leg reap
I havent been able to judo for months cuz i injured my elbow in a judo compeititon and this is making me so sad rn reminding me of that 😭 but at the samw time happy seeing how cool old school judo was
That wasn’t a double leg
1:18
d-e-a-d-l-y 👻👻
Tani Otoshi Throw.
I think the Muay Thai guy bent it on his knee
Morote gari is the double leg
Yep! Will never forget that again. Sometimes it takes not remembering when recording a video to permanently pound it into the memory ;)
@@FightCommentary It's like learning a whole new language LOL
Logan vs fazko😂😂😂🎉
Pero que Demonios paso Aqui?
You keep calling the striker Muay Thai guy. He doesn’t carry himself like a Muay Thai fighter. His stance, footwork, punches….and when he clinched behind the neck it’s not like a pure MT guy especially in Thailand. He is doing some weird Tony Jag Muay Boran thing with his hands early on but not very fluidly. I’d just call him MMA guy.
If you went up against a Judoka, your stance and footwork will change too, I promise.
@@FightCommentary I’m sure but there was nothing MT about that guy the way he moved punched held his body. Nothing at all.
If that was me being the Muay Thai guy, I would absolutely hate to take that win. He was losing the fight. If not for the dislocation, he would have (obviously) won.
A win it's a Win.
What? There is always "if this, if that" then someone else would've won.
@@metalzonemt-2
He ‘won’ it.
If I’m running a race, way ahead of everyone….pretty much guaranteed a win….and suddenly I get a muscle spasm and fall. It’s kinda not a real win.
You know?
Especially when it comes to fighting.
A real win is man vs man. One defeats the other. That’s just according to my judgement 😀
@@Domzdream
The one who crosses the finnish line first, wins. Those are the rules of the game.
In this fight one did defeat the other, because he was unable to continue.
There's a reason there are rules in sports.
@@metalzonemt-2
Yeaaaaaas……you know what I meeeeen
When the muy thai guy started to heel kick the back of the judo guys brain stem and the ref had to stop it, it showed you Judo has a lot of flaws out of sports.
It’s funny because the muay thai guy won by submission
The iminari roll wasnt invented by 10th planet but let's not get too excited 😅, it's still a bjj technique lmfao. Invented by Iminari (bjj fighter). The match was pure Jiu-Jitsu apart from the double leg trip at the end
Judo is just so cool looking. I like how the Judo guy would let the Muay Thai guy rebuild his confidence to engage rather than waste his energy attempting to close the distance.
Hopeless commentary.
Wearing headgear puts the Muay Thai boxer into a tremendous disadvantage.
