Kind of makes me go silent and want to cry. I do indeed love Ren.He IS music. And when he sings with Sam, it's magic. Ren met Sam when Sam was 16 and busking without a mic. Ren let him use his mic and played guitar for him sitting against a doorway. He let Sam keep all the money. Sam's friends filmed the moment on phone vudeo. Sam says that it was the 1st tine he felt confident. Ren was 23 and already sick, but still functioning some. 3-4 years later,when Ren started busking again after 2 stem cell transplants, these 2 filmed Blind-Eyed and it went viral. Ren's first taste of success since 7 years of sickness. Sam just finished a tour! I love these guys together. I hope the fact that Sam is signed to a label won't prevent them from performing together .
Thanks for reacting. Ren is a beast and as you are seeing he can do it all, instruments, singing, rapping, makes beats and produces all his stuff. Him and his tiny team of friends. He has nice duets with Sam. Sam is signed to a major record label so any future duets are likely over.
Crazy how much talent Ren and Sam have, the've got original track together Blind Eyed/M.C. Sessions but also Angry Car Park Attendant live version is such a fun video too! Thanks for your great reaction, love some Sam solo stuff too....vulnerable emotional stuff real life struggles but delivered with raw beautiful vocals hits every time!
Sam was busking on the street at 16, just by himself, no instrument. Ren walked past and fell in love with the falsetto. Took his guitar out and they did their first busking session there and then. There is even a video of it somewhere. Their first bit of fame came after a joint song called Blind Eyed. There are multiple versions of it online, and they are all worth watching for their own reasons. You can really see in this video how much music is a physical thing for them. You know that better than me, I am sure.
1) I'll never get tired of Sam's voice. I don't even really like pop music all that much (and Sam's solo stuff is pop) but I'll always stop to listen to his voice. And I enjoy it even more when he's singing with Ren, cuz Ren always ties not-pop elements in (or at least mixes it up in ways that aren't typical for pop music). 2) I love this one of Ren & Sam's. Love how Sam just goes for it vocally, even if it sometimes results in pitchy notes - when you're out busking is a great low-stakes time to push yourself in front of people. 3) Ren's album, Sick Boi (do the video for the title track! It serves as a full-production studio track follow-up to Hi Ren) is a hip hop album, so most of the recent videos on his RUclips channel being from that album means his most recent stuff is all hip hop-based. Which means that we don't see as much of his truly beautiful guitar work in his recent stuff. And then you dip back into his older stuff and run across incredible guitar moments like this one. It has to be some of my favourite guitar work across his entire body of work. Love how he throws a few different genres of music into Falling with his guitar, lol - Love the duet his guitar "sings" with Sam, love his work with the loop pedal, and I especially love everything he does after he turns the whammy pedal off.
Sam is my favorite of Ren's collaborators, and he has soooo many great collaborations over the years. There's something special about these early videos where they were having so much fun making music together. It pours out through them and I feel lucky to be here in a time when I can experience some of the magic.

But putting that aside....A big favorite of mine is The Big Push busking "Wade in the Water" Ren is really feeling it in that song. Also Goran will in that one. And of course Romain is outstanding on the guitar.
