Any autoimmune disease does do this to you daily. You take everyday and sometimes minute by minute. Myself have struggled but after accepting Jesus Christ I learned better to cope and indeed you do get a lot stronger even through the suffering because you just open up The Sword and learn how to make those voices, self doubt and everything else goes away when you speak those words out of The Bible because indeed those words ARE A TRUE SWORD AGAINST THE ENEMY! Music I have always had to have and now It’s so different as far as perspective because I learned that when I Praise my Lord and Saviour and sing out God also gives me breath to breathe even when my O2 has been struggling moments before so the most important is to sell out to Jesus! Dance with Jesus Daily!

Same here, brother. Turning 43 in two weeks myself. The only other songs that hit me this hard are the Shaun Davey's rendition of The Parting Glass and Andy Cizek's Sumerian Vocal Audition (both are on RUclips.)
The song reminds me of this quote from Way of the Peaceful Warrior:
"The peaceful warrior's way is not about invulnerability, but absolute vulnerability--to the world, to life, and to the Presence you felt. All along I've shown you by example that a warrior's life is not about imagined perfection or victory; it is about love. Love is a warrior's sword; wherever it cuts, it gives life, not death."

Ren was signed to a major label. A week later he got super sick and was diagnosed with an autoimmune disease and was treated for it. The treatment was torture for TEN YEARS.. it made his sicker and with that pain, the psychosis set in.. more meds... A cycle that would only be stopped when he was referred to another doctor and was told he had late stage lyme disease and the previous diagnosis was not right. Ren is healing and his ten year torture only served to make him strong and through his pain and suffering has written many great songs. He is totally independent now and wants to stay that way. This video cost him a grand to make.

    14 years of not crying.
My parents would beat me so much that I lost that special human ability to cry. When I was adopted, I blocked out all of that and forgot it all like it never happened.
After being shown this song at work, a flip of a switch inside my head opened up all those memories. I was so scared I hid in the corner crying, and my boss and friends tried getting me out. An ambulance took me to the hospital.
I'm stuck with these memories of being dragged out of bed at night to be beaten because they were bored.
Having a knife on my neck because they were high or drunk.
Being hit with a bat on my back.
Putting my head underwater in the bathtub for a laugh while I fight for air.
Having one of their friends do stuff to me for drugs.
Having a dog growl at me trying to bite.
Being forced to do drugs and drink alcohol.
Being forced to hold my pee so they can laugh when i wet my pants.
Pushed against the walls and ground for amusement.
    And so much more.
What I would do was hide in a corner holding in my tears and holding my hands against my mouth so I wouldn't make any noise and get caught.
A memory was when I was taken from the house the cop carrying me was crying and in the ambulance the emt started crying I went to sleep after or i guess passed out.
The scars my adopted parents told me they were from accidents from riding my bike and falling off trees when i was a kid. I truly believed they were my actual parents when i was a kid and believed it all, and to me, they are my parents.
I start work again in a week. I'm so glad they are so supportive.
Listening to this song again from other perspectives shines a light on who I am now. My friends and family who loves me just makes me happy cry, and I'm just so happy. Those memories might be with me, but this song just makes me happy, sad, and full of hope.
I love my family and friends. Without their support I would've totally lost it and those memories would've been the end of me.
    This is a powerful song.

It’s nice to see your emotions I don’t like when someone usually men playing big boys and then usually then their braking alone. Good people understand that everyone does cry and won’t judge and it’s not a shame. Only fakers will laugh. And immature people. I remember my dad wiped quietly his tears during movie, he was the one who was thought men don’t cry so he was hiding lol 😅 about music: I had psychosis and I heard voices so I so much relate to this music. You can’t imagine how hard is to know is illusion and illness but from other side him / me experienced unbelievable and unreal. I’ve seen it I’ve heard it I’ve experienced it. I took meds I’m okay and back to normality but no one will take me believe of awaking and that it is more out there than we see. I became after psychosis better person, more understanding, more polite etc. And I wish world and people would be nicer to each other and leave in peace as I believe this/you/me and our conscious will be forever and we all need to learn to leave with peace and respect. I was talking like Ren with voices and the worst was I knew inside me and said to doctors it’s not normal etc and there were surprise that I know it’s not real but still couldn’t unsee it. I hope he will get better one day.

I have since listened to most of his other stuff, im a huge fan of blues so although he does some rap, the blues he does made me melt it’s so good. This guy, hands down is a genius.

I heard this walking to work on Venice Blvd and had to pause it afraid some stranger would see how much it moved me. It’s seems at every moment that he is so abundant, so spontaneous, so daring in his passion, so full of surprise, that his work will never be in need of defense. He writes from life itself, not above it, and that’s why we’ll give him our love.

As always, geat reaction. "Hi Ren" is the song that put Ren on everyone's radar over the past month; it went viral and garnered more than 2 million views in a couple of weeks, but he has been creating great music for more than 10 years. His latest release, "Sick Boi," is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren." I am 57 y/o, and I only recently learned about Ren and have gone down this rabbit hole ever since. Many of the subjects, experiences, and emotions expressed in his songs touch me on a very personal level because I can relate to and identify with many of his struggles.
A little more background on Ren that I gathered from the internet. Ren pursued a career in music from an early age. In 2009, while studying music performance at Bath Spa University, he began to experience health issues and was struggling to attend his lectures. In 2010, he was signed by Sony Records and was working on an album when his health deteriorated to the point where he was unable to continue. His illness often kept him in bed for up to 23 hours a day. Ren was initially diagnosed with depression, bipolar disorder, and chronic fatigue syndrome. It would take seven years before he was finally correctly diagnosed with autoimmunity, Lyme disease, and brain damage. Ren eventually underwent stem cell therapy in the United States, which improved his health, but it has not been a cure. He is currently in Canada for more treatments.
Ren is an incredible and unique artist; he plays multiple instruments, has great vocal ability, is an excellent storyteller, and is quite the philosopher and poet. From what I read, his videos are generally shot live, all in one take by his friend. I recommend you check out some of his other work. The trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet" is haunting and has an unexpected ending; WATCH THEM IN THE STATED ORDER, as this is the flow of the storyline or just watch “The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full)” which includes “Violet’s Tale at the end. It is another example of Ren’s genius and a master’s class in storytelling.
Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice while addressing mental health. I would watch the official live music video. "Chalk Outlines" is one of my favorite songs right now. Ren's personal reflections are threaded through many of his songs; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation.
As a solo act, Ren performs a range of genres, much of it hip-hop/rap influenced, as well as guitar-based ballads. His performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling”), Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), his former bandmate, Romain Axisa (“French Song”) and any of his performances as a member of the band "The Big Push" (which unfortunately broke up) are awesome and well worth checking out, both the busking (street performances) and their live recordings. Ren has impressive vocal and instrumental skills. He is one-of-a-kind and appears mature beyond his years.
Ren just released his latest single, “Sick Boi.” In anticipation of his stay in Canada for more treatments, Ren prepared some music ahead of time to be released over the next 3-6 months that he expects to be gone. "Sick Boi" is almost another chapter to "Hi Ren."

I love reaction videos where I feel like the people making them have absorbed just as much information as I did when I first watched them. At the beginning where he’s playing guitar and you clocked that he was playing live and he had a mic on, immediately I thought.. ‘OH THIS IS GONNA BE A GOOD REACT’ and it was!
So thank you guys, you’ve got a subscribe from me!

Brian, bro... I'm 56, USMC combat veteran and I got so into this song, I cried like a baby. There is NOTHING to be ashamed of. This song is soooo deep. I actually had to take a break for several months before I could come back to this song, as it touched me so much.

We definitely need to teach our sons and young men that is absolutely normal to respond with crying when it comes to something extremely sad. To push down emotions is to punish oneself down and even cause mental pain, and anguish that can lead you down some dark path. You can be a “strong man“ and still cry. I’m sick and tired of men taking pride in not crying, even at a funeral. It’s very sad in a way because it’s not weakness. It’s a normal response to a sad event.
