Anyone who have been watching F1 since his years in Ferrari onwards (where he had a race winning but not the best car) to his Mclaren years would never question his ability, even in those torrid Mclaren years. He already maximised the performance of his cars in Mclaren and no one who knows anything about F1 questioned his ability in those last years. So he didn't and doesn't have anything to prove. Very well put analysis! Just wanted to add something: At the moment Schumacher retired, he never thought about coming back, so he was completely out of the motorsports routine for 3 years. When Alonso "retired", he always left the option open for a return and stayed in the highest levels of motorsports next to F1, which means he could be as sharp at the wheel as he was in 2018 and achieve great things - I certainly hope so!
In my opinion, I think Michael Schumacher came back from a retirement to help Mercedes develop and improve their car. Which what made Mercedes a strong team today. Great video by the way really enjoyed it! Watching you from Kuwait!
Schumacher didn't come back to develop the car. Hamilton couldn't drive the car set up for Michael at the beginning of the 2013 season so Merc made a ton of changes on the brakes and steering wheel to suit Ham's driving style. Michael's contribution to Mercedes success was to convince the parent company in Germany to invest proper money on the F1 team, because their come back in 2010 had only been half hearted. Nohwere near enough investment on their wind tunnel and other infrastructures to compete with Red Bull, Ferrari and McLaren at the time.
If Fernando wins a race I will cry. I am convinced he is the absolute best behind that wheel, and I desperately want to see him prove that again. People have forgotten just how good he is.
@Samanthaflower because Hamilton is fast as hell. There’s no denying that, and Alonso did himself no favors with the team which was a disadvantage for the second half. I think Hamilton is faster over a single lap, but race craft, and relentless pace I give to Alonso.
It doesn't sound strange if you followed F1. Don't think I have seen any driver being able to get the most out of shitty cars the way Alonso has been capable of.
I know it's been a year but i think comparing the return of schumacher and alonso is not very interressant maybe comparing it with raikkonen is more logic
Nobody will forget 05 and 06 in regards to the way he handled the corners to win the championships with MS on the charge behind/next to him. Fernando is one of the greatest of all times for this alone. Its a pity that most forget this. Good luck 2021 champ
He may have not the titles to this claim but Alonso maybe the GOAT. His consistency throughout his career relative to the car is very impressive. Even completely whitewashing teammates like Vandoorne and Nelson Piquet Jr. who had success in other classes.
I actually am really really happy for fernando he was being wasted at mclaren and he deserves a competitive car so as long as renault deliver he'll definetely be making hamilton nervous
Micheal's comeback was hurt by what Ross Brawn described as "reheated leftovers" of the 2009 car that had fell behind due to a lack of development in 2009, it multiplies for 2010 and merc was trying to catchup 2011-13 Many in the merc team said MSC was very important for turning the team into the team they are now
I think Alonso getting so much out of that McLaren Honda proved how much talent he has I don't think anyone was doubting he's one of the greats when he first left F1.
@Samanthaflower He was brought back in part to develop hybrid PUs, per Nobert Haug, one of the Mercedes bosses at the time. They were originally scheduled to be deployed in 2013 originally, so experienced driver feedback, whether on-track, sim, factory etc. would be very useful for the team that he once drove for in sports car categories
@@varunkaushik3204 I mean who else would you bring back? The rest of the drivers are clueless compared to MS, not to be mean. If Alpine can deliver a fast car and Alonso can extract the maximum out of his car, then, there is no doubt in my mind that he can challenge Lewis, not necessarily win the title but atleast contend against him.
Lewis fanboys and their "BuT RoOkIe HaMiLtOn 2007" You can't compare the performance of two drivers on a year alone. With that logic Torpedo,is better than Danny Ric and Rosberg is better than Schumacher. Oh and Maldonado is better than Ayrton Senna because he actually won with a midfield Williams
why the Nando hate? If you have not seen the bio/doc on netflix, watch it, he is impressive. Apparently he is hard to work with, but nothing that cannot be managed clearly. He's freakishly intelligent, versatile, fast, and fit. Poor pocon...

Then as I've learned it was age and a crap car that aided his poor showing from 2010-2012 however saying that... the old emotions of 2000 came back when he got that ''pole'' at Monaco and finally at Valencia in 2012 with surprisingly Fernando and Kimi and Andrea Stella on the podium... yep my emotions flooded then because I'd realised that Fernando as well as Kimi were still there and finally Michael had joined them.... It does still leave a lump in my throat whenever I watch it when they have the photograph together as I did feel it was the final time all 3 would be together on the podium.
I knew Michael's days were over and when he announced his third retirement I acknowledged that with respect as I did say under my breath.. ''Schumi you've done enough, thankyou for everything...''
Fernando meanwhile, as time went past and saw him win at Ferrari everything I thought about him at Renault had gone. I actually started to like him in his racecraft and how fast this guy was. In my world today I still think he should have gotten that 3rd title in 2012 whilst Michael was still around, to me now Fernando is a legend! Looking back at his Renault career in 2005/2006 and watching race footage now I can understand why he earned those two titles, he's very gifted and he deserves both of them and I recognise him as one of the greats.
Watching Alonso in Alpina shows he still has that fire to get up there even with an under performing car. To be honest I really hope we see him on the top step again!
Thankyou for reading.
Huge respect mate!!
I’m going to be 17. I was born in 2005 the last year of V10. So I grew up around the V8 era. But I never watched F1 when I was 6 or 7 years old. I only started watching F1 2 years ago.
Its really sad knowing in hindsight , that if Schumi had stayed for just one more year in F1 , he could had avoided his huge skiing accident
Or had the Race of Champions not been cancelled in 2013
Anyone who have been watching F1 since his years in Ferrari onwards (where he had a race winning but not the best car) to his Mclaren years would never question his ability, even in those torrid Mclaren years. He already maximised the performance of his cars in Mclaren and no one who knows anything about F1 questioned his ability in those last years. So he didn't and doesn't have anything to prove.
Though no doubt its probably his fire in him that makes him come back to show the world again how good he always is.

@Ryan T We could go on for hours about 2007. Safe to say it's not as simple as you make it out to be. Alonso beat Schumacher. Twice. What's you're point? Racing is far more complicated than just 'fastest driver wins'.
Both drivers have competed in many more seasons than that, but you decided to cherry pick that one to be representative of their entire careers?

The talent of Alonso is unquestionable. Ranks amongst the all time greats of the sport. The numbers were never there though and for someone who peaked as a after already earning 2 championships, it’s a crime that he hasn’t been more successful. For me, it’s a toss up between Schumacher and Alonso for greatest driver since the 80s
The reasons the number is small is because of his career choices

he was still the ferrari superstar then, and todt was still in charge so it was pretty clear that schumi left on his own after finally equalling the last of ayrton's records
All those moves make sense except for Schumi one. He was still in his prime. He was like today's Hamilton and Kimi was probably today's Max. So its understandable why Ferrari chose KImi

I love Alonso, so glad he's back!!

In my opinion, I think Michael Schumacher came back from a retirement to help Mercedes develop and improve their car. Which what made Mercedes a strong team today.

Watching you from Kuwait!
Schumacher developed the car while Rosberg beat him as his team mate on a regular basis then🤦🏻♂️
Yeah, he’s more into the car than fighting others on track, seeing what needs to be changed, improved etc, especially when brawn ask him to do so
@@andrewmeadows2596 Schumi was already past his prime.

@Samanthaflower because Hamilton is fast as hell. There’s no denying that, and Alonso did himself no favors with the team which was a disadvantage for the second half. I think Hamilton is faster over a single lap, but race craft, and relentless pace I give to Alonso.
One of the big differences is that Fernando never retired but Michael did

@Samanthaflower He was brought back in part to develop hybrid PUs, per Nobert Haug, one of the Mercedes bosses at the time.
