I'm sorry but I have to disagree with you on the whole 'Vettel shouldn't take jabs at Ferrari' thing. You said yourself, Ferrari leadership and especially Binotto have been blaming Vettel for their poor performance from day one. Ferraris usual inability to admit that they have fucked up put them in a situation where they needed a scapegoat. Every single weekend I heard Binotto taking jabs at Vettel, some justified, but many also completely rude and unnecessary and even wrong at times. And Binotto lied to the media about the circumstances under which Vettel was fired. For most of the season, Vettel was the bigger man and stayed quiet, so I don't blame him for taking a shot at Binotto now that he's achieved a somewhat good result.
Indeed Vettel has kept quiet and not blamed anything on the team until now, and I'm all for it. Binotto has been talking bs since last year," we let Vettel win" (singapore), "we expected more from our second driver" (IMOLA), and many many more it makes me sick.
I feel the same like Alonso criticizing Ferrari in 14 is way different then vettel making few jokes rn

Vettel is overrated. Most drivers like Hamilton, Bottas, Verstappen, Perez and Sainz would have won the championship with the 2017 and 2018 Ferrari.

most people just go by what they hear over team radios during the race, and don't understand that those transmissions have a lot to do with the high adrenaline of competition and are not necessarily a reflection of interpersonal relationships.
If Ferrari really cared for him they should of got him an sport psychologist to help him repair after 2018
If Ferrari had cared about him they would've taken care of their team first, specifically their strategy department has been disastrous. Perhaps if they had had better strategists, Vettel could've actually focused more on driving, which he's actually quite good at when he isn't in need to think about his tyre strategy more so than the rest of the team. That has been a major issue in 2017. It was still an issue in 2018 and hasn't exactly changed since.

They seem to have got past the petty stage and awkwardness, and are now more comfortable with the situation and getting on with the racing.
I agree that Sebastian has made some mistakes in the past, but there seems to be an explanation. Being a title challenger is hard enough, but challenging with Ferrari puts you under much more pressure, Ferrari is no ordinary team, it's full of internal politics, and that put Seb under that much pressure. It certainly was more than the pressure Lewis is under at Merc. And he had no one to rely on unlike Michael for example, who had a pact with Brawn and Todt inside the team.
Seb also brought more pressure upon him in 2017 after the Baku incident, and the mechanical dnfs costed him quite a lot. But he was the best driver that year, just the car was lagging behind the Mercedes.
That’s the thing, Ferrari piles pressure on their drivers, Mercedes supports their drivers through pressure.
We have the same problem in Canada with the Canadian hockey team that can't deal with star players
Agree with you. But well, there s always an explanation. And Seb knows how to manage pressure (even if it wasn t the same situation,just look back to his red bull titles). I d say the rupture was after the German GP 2018. But well, hope we will see more of Seb's magic

I think listing all spins is a fine argument but that doesn’t give him a fair look in my opinion because most of the team was never fully behind him and he always had all the pressure on him, he could never only focus on the race.

Also he mentioned Germany as Catalyst. Well here's a little context to Germany: Ferrari were on different strategies for Kimi and Vettel. Despite having the fresher tires, Ferrari didn't let Vettel pass Kimi. Vettel was later in a comfortable lead but Hamilton was pushing really hard on 4. They calculated, that Hamilton would win, if he could keep the pace til the end. So Vettel was told to push, which he did. First Lap was as fast as Ham, second was the crash.
So without Ferraris dumb strategy Vettel would have had a) not to push, because a bigger gap and b) fresher tires in the light rain because no dirty air from Kimi
Oh and btw I just watched Suzuka Quali 2018 and I don't think it was Vettels decision to be the only one out on Inters in Q3 when it was still dry and then go out later on Slicks when the rain began, resulting in him starting 9th. With a common sense strategy he just starts in front of Verstappen instead of plowing through the field at the start. Context matters with a lot of these spins

You have totally blamed Vettel for all the incidents he has had as his "driver errors".
2018 Ferrari didn't have the best car on track pls check the no of poles and their performances on legit every track and if you say that Vettel is just a shit driver then you're also claiming Raikonnen was a shit driver.
I admit the spins are his problem, but legit most of the spins I've seen, is abnormally huge for any driver to commit so many spins and this definitely can be derived from the fact that the Ferrari was never designed for him or the downforce or the rear of the car is really unstable.
Seb has always done well in the high downforce tracks and yes I admit that drivers are supposed to be versatile, but you cannot really pin much of this to him in any way. Daniel Ricciardo had a shit season in 2018 compared to Max, doesn't mean he's a bad driver or worse than Max, in which you're claiming Leclerc is better than Vettel.
Leclerc has done nothing but performed on Saturday, he's got 9 poles in 2019 and could only convert 2 of them, which speaks volumes. Plus Leclerc has made driver errors both in 2019 and in 2020 for that matter so saying Leclerc is better than Vettel is a huge overstatement coming from a "Vettel fan". Leclerc has been hugely responsible in squeezing Vettel out of the picture, he's played politics inside Ferrari and many former Ferrari drivers have claimed that.
Now: main point.
Please explain the gap between Vettel and Leclerc in legit every race in 2020, the slow pit stops, the strategy differences. You really think they have the same car? Vettel gets his upgrades 10 minutes before qualifying , you think a departing driver from the team will get the same upgrades or the same strategies as the first driver? Balls. You've gotta be kidding me that Vettel and Leclerc who've had merely a 0.2 secs difference in 2019 between them now have more than a second difference. Fairplay to you as a Vettel fan if you really think a 4 time champion is that bad to Leclerc by being 1 second behind him 😂
Ferrari have claimed that they don't have a race performing car this year, but you have any idea why they're facing so much backlash in social media? It's coz of the way they treated Vettel. They claimed first that "Vettel and Ferrari couldn't come to a contract agreement", even though in 2019 they said they're giving Vettel a chance based on his performance in 2020. Later Vettel claimed he was never even given a contract in the first place, thus me pointing out that Ferrari had already planned to squeeze him out in 2020 before the 2019 season even ended.
Today Binotto has passed more salty sarcastic unsupportive comments towards Vettel than Vettel fucking has, and why shouldn't he? He's been screwed this season and he's been keeping his calm. So for a driver who's got nothing to lose, who's leaving the team, it is unethical for him to be passing any kinda comments? Bullshit.
Vettel has never received the support from Ferrari, same as Alonso or Massa and if you've had drivers of that quality for years and haven't yet won a championship since 2008 or a DC since 2007? It's not the drivers, it's the team that's the problem 100%. Soon I'll see Leclerc getting sucked out in the future just like Vettel was.

Everybody on the internet acting all smart like they have a PhD in psychology and know Sebastian personally and have worked with Ferrari for the past 20 years.
From looking at what happens within the team, we can still confirm they have a toxic environment. They were reaping everything with Michael, Ross and Todt in the early 00's until 2005. In 2006, they managed to bounce back but they still pushed heavily to get rid of the trio just because they were not Italians. Only Todt stayed amd they replace MSC with Kimi because they wanted him badly.
After 2008, they wanted to give the boot to Kimi with no respect (though indeed his 08 and 09 campaigns were subpar) to replace him with Alonso. Then they got rid of Alonso, and now Vettel.
Back in the 90's, they got rid of Prost who was telling the truth regarding the shitty car they had. And they did the same to Lauda in the 80's

Ferrari has always been like this, and that is their way of defending the most successful team in history and the most prestigious car brand. Off course they are toxic, they have a lot to lose as opposed to redbull (which doesn't even build cars) and mercedes (without f1 history till today. It might be wrong but this way has always worked in the past, you need strong character to succeed at Ferrari.

Blaming Vettel for the 2017 Singapore GP collision is quite a stretch, and I'm not sure the shunt at Hockenheim in 2018 was so decisive for his title hopes - he got to win at Spa two GPs later and was beaten to the championship by a 90-plus points margin -, but overall I agree with Aldas. This was an honest take on Seb's career at Ferrari.
When you lose the mental battle, you lose the championship battle.
Well that crash at hockenheim was due to an under steer because of front wing damage.

I think Seb and Ferrari would be world different had they clinched the 2017 title (as they could have). We might have had a 6-time and a 5-time champion on the grid today instead of a 4-time and 7-time.

I always think of Nico Rosberg when I think of Seb in recent years. Nico made it clear just what the toll is on family life to be at the pinnacle and Seb is definitely a family man. Think about his competition, Max, Charles, Lewis etc who are 100% focused on every milliliter and microsecond to the exclusion of all else. That’s a tough spot to be in.

14:53 you could add Kimi Raikkonen in 2008 & 2009 as well the only lead driver that has lasted in the pressure cooker of Ferrari in the last 30 years was Michael Schumacher ever since they have just been putting lead drivers through the meat grinder to try an replace him.
Even Schumacher was thrown away by Ferrari in the end. They forced his retirement. I can't think of many drivers who left Ferrari on a good note going back to Surtees or even Fangio. I don't know why so many drivers choose to deal with the politics and typical mistakes that happen there. I think if you go with the attitude that you're driving for Ferrari for the experience (and money) and that's what you want from F1, great. That works for drivers like Berger, Irvine, Raikkonen (it's a "hobby." Perfect). But if you're truly championship material, looking elsewhere will likely work at least at well.
Michael Schumacher had a different team along with Brawn around him supporting him because he choosen the team himself. Not just the ITALIANS TEAM putting pressure on the driver to win no matter the cost.

If another team boss was missing from the paddock for one weekend while their drivers both drove well and their drivers made the same joke, would you say it's a jab at the team boss? Of course not, you'd just take it as a joke. The only reason you think it's a jab from Seb is because there is certain truth in it.

Vettel's heart just isn't in it with Ferrari any more and I can understand why
I don't see how Ferrari treated Vettel badly. He was given the best Ferrari since 2007 and failed twice to make the most of it. They dumped Alonso for him and could have got Ricciardo or Verstappen but stood by Seb and got nothing in return.

I usually agree with Aldas but on this video from my perspective, it's just really really bad. First, we have to recognize that the Ferrari relies mainly on its engine this is why the corner speed between the 2 cars have such a big gap. I am summarising but if I had Ferrari's engine it wouldn't take that much to design a car that ok. A lot of the comment that Aldas said is really unfair regarding Seb's mistake. You need to understand Ferrari as a team which Aldas failed to do in this video. To be honest, It just a very very bad video with a lack of explanation and detail to back his statement.

Tbf Vettel taking jabs at Ferrari isn't quite accurate. Seb has always been quite and protected the team when they ruined his races. Even during this dreadful season he hasn't really said anything about the team eventhough there have been many instances where it would have been too easy for him to do.

I think it is really ungrateful and disrespectful for Vettel to act as if Ferrari is to blame here. Ferrari gave him an amazing package , and made him the de-facto number one driver in the team, even let him have first say when it came to selecting a team-mate. And what he did was choke under pressure and make mistakes whenever he was expected to perform. Seriously, if Alonso had the package Vettel had, he would have probably won the championship.
My point was that he s never been disrepectful to the team, so his speech was legitimate. You re right, he had the package to win. And without talking of the externalities, the responsibility is shared. About Alonso, yes, he is an outstanding driver but we will never know... Lets see them fight for podiums next year

@@yxgygv7883 Ferrari's package was supremely fast in 2017 and 2018, Vettel was neck and neck with Hamilton in the first half of the season, he choked in the second half of both seasons and under delivered when his team wanted him to rise to the occasion. Like in Singapore 2017, where he created a sandwiched 2 cars, including his team-mate, into the pitwall and crashed after getting pole. Or the idiotic crash he had in hockenheim 2018. The team did their best and gave him priority over Kimi, but unfortunately he will never take responsibility for his actions.

In Monza 2018, Ferrari had the fastest car, Vettel was the one who got involved in an incident with Hamilton and ruined his race... NOT FERRARI'S FAULT
In Austin 2018, Ferrari was the fastest when it came to race pace, but Vettel messed up his qualifying with a stupid mistake in free practice and ruined his race. Kimi won that race.
Brazil 2018, could not extract the pace out of a car that could have finished on the podium, Kimi came third in that race.
Not to mention various other races such as Azerbaijan, Hockenheim etc. where driver error costed him the championship. So yeah, my "research" is top notch mate
And as far as qualifying and race pace goes... no car is meant to perform well in each and every race, every car is weak on some tracks and fast on others. The team gave Vettel a fast car, its up to the driver to adapt his driving style to out-drive the car. That's how Hamilton won in 08, and that's what Alonso ALMOST did in 2010. Vettel, unfortunately, cannot out-perform his car, and has choked so many times under pressure. He doesn't deserve number 1 status at Ferrari anymore.
I don't think seb's 'smart comments' and little digs are unfair at all, or petty tbh. Man's been punched in the stomach and tossed out, he's always been cheeky like that, and good it’s to see that there's a fire still in him. It's just to keep his dignity together. Plus, a few comments like that DO NOT outweigh the damage the ferrari team have done to Seb.

I actually disagree with that one. He won the Belgian GP right after that and was looking again on track to win the championship.
Then the Monza qualifying came, where Ferrari failed to make the strategy work for Vettel so that he would be on pole. In my opinion that startet his chain of unnecessary mistakes, that were far bigger than his (rather small) mistake in Hockenheim.
But of course it had at one point become just a lot....=(

Aldas, thank you for the great work! In my opinion it all comes down to mentality and mindset. In terms of driving skills, i don t think Hamilton is much better than Vettel or Bottas. But some factors made his mindset very strong, maybe his dad, maybe some mental coaches, and maybe himself. Bottas always strikes me as a beta male and that he could do so much better, and Vettel is an all time great but mentally unstable. If he doesn t aknowledge his weakness, if he doesn t hire some people helping him to get a hold of himself, there are no chances of him getting things done at Aston. I m a Vettel fan, but F1 is made for predators, not for mood shifting drivers. I bet that Hamilton would drive that Ferarri better than Seb, even though i still think that on his best day, Vettel is the best.
Hamilton and Vettel in terms of driving ability are about as good as each other, with Hamilton having the edge on adaptability and Vettel on actual peak performance. In 7 championships on the same car, I would probably see 4 for Lewis and 3 for Vettel, or vice-versa.
Both are leagues ahead of Bottas... Vettel made Bottas look like a joke in 2017 and 2018 despite the Mercedes overall being the dominant car in 2017 and slightly better in 2018.
Bottas is very fast in 1 lap qualifying. That's his biggest strength. Everything else? Average... It's the races that makes great drivers and win championships, not qualifying.
People forget that When Vettel crashed in Germany 2018 , he already had a front wing issue and had to fight the car in all the corner.

He has given the best fights over the years and the probability one of the driver who has given max number of goosebump moments
2 car drivers, the kind that have the appropriate egos necessary for F1, can only co-exist if the management via the Team Principal is spot on. Binotto isn't just not spot on, he's a disaster. And while drivers that can successfully drive an F1 car are, in fact, incredibly rare, good managers do exist everywhere. Not that there aren't a lot of bad managers, but they aren't 1 in several million like F1 drivers. There really is no excuse and he should be immediately replaced.
Upon reflection, Binotto may be an excellent example of the Peter Principle. He seemed good at his previous job at Ferrari, send him back there?
Oh.....and while drivers can be forgiven for the occasional snide, unsupportive, and less-than-ideal comments about the team (again, given that they are F1 drivers and egos with their own gravity are de rigueur), the Team Principal IS supposed to be the adult in the room. There is no excuse for being off-message in this position. He is supposed to be, among other things, the team's head cheerleader.

He's in the same situation Hamilton was in 2012 imo(didn't make many mistakes in 12' but his 11' season was bad, I mean Button outperformed him) and he just left McLaren before their downfall begin and went to Mercedes who was clearly on the rise and it was open secret that Mercs were going to have an advantage in 2014. His move at AMR is going to be fun, I think he's going to be fully engaged and that's a team that makes very good strategy calls and does really well with the budget it has so with Seb coming in and a paddock rumor that maybe even Newey is joining them in 22' I think we may see Vettel back.
Great champions always have a way to come back on top. We've seen it with Hamilton, and in other sports as well, I mean Federer and Nadal were written off completely 4 years ago and today they're sitting at the top again.
I just don’t think Vettel is/was ever on the level of Hamilton or Alonso. Yes, he was excellent in 2011 & 2013. But he almost didn’t win titles in 2010 & 2012 when he clearly had much better cars than Fernando Alonso. Then he got roundly beaten in 2014 by Ricciardo in his first season at a decent team. Bottled titles in 2017 & 2018, and didn’t even really come close to winning those. Then in 2019 & 2020 he got embarrassed by Charles Leclerc. He’s only ever had 2 F1 seasons where he’s been the standout driver on the grid. Hamilton & Alonso have done that many more times

Great video, well worded and agree with most of it. But if you're saying Ferrari is to blame most, me and probably a lot of others like to see a video on that. I think it would be very interesting to see all of the mistakes Ferarri has made, as they're not so highlighted in the media, because the drivers get all the spotlight. Someone really should try to shine a light on and put together the countless ferrari mistakes, ranging from long pitstops, not noticing damage on the cars, confusing strategies or forgetting the strategy at all, the political games being played with passive agressive comments in their pr, internal power struggles, unnecessary drama, brakes or other parts not being connected to the car properly, cheating etc. etc.

I think Ferrari is like a family company which hires a professional and expects him to give results asap or they are made into buffoons/villains. With unprofessional everyone they secretly don't want new guy to succeed. If MS wasn't thick skinned or with JT he wouldn't have gotten 7 WDC. In 1998 they wanted to hire Mika over MS.

I really think SF90 was a challenger for the title, that car was flying but Ferrari messed up (Including the drivers). 2019 was a really bad year for Vettel, he never recovered from 2018 dramatic season and I think Leclerc was nowhere near a challenger for the title, he was good on Saturdays but on Sundays the Drivers, the strategists, the manager and the mechanics were awful.
i say ferrari where cheating in 2019 the fia know this and stopped them doing it again and so the car was and is rubbish 2020

I see where you are going with this, I've recently seen an article that they have revealed that their engine is at least 50 horsepower down on the Mercedes, and they have gotten new upgrades over the past few races. The new engine tests are going good so far, so lets hope they can fix their chassis problems and challenge next year.
No demote binotto instead to technical ditector. He knew how to make competitive car. 2017 and 2018 car is a clear example. If Ferrari managed to build a competitive car, Leclerc can be a championship contender alongside Russell, Verstappen, even Norris, Danny Ric and Seb if Aston Martin and McLaren can built a competitive car
