Dutch band formed in 1996 (same year as Nightwish) by lead singer Sharon den Adel and her partner, guitarist Robert Westerholt. Sharon is mostly self taught. She makes a lot of her stage outfits as she has a degree in fashion design. They are based in symphonic metal, but will move around into other styles often. This song is 1 of the 5 ,so far, stand alone singles released in the last few years. They should be included in the upcoming 8th album due next year. They have a done a bunch of collaborations over the years ,including Paradise (What about Us) with Tarja.
Their commercial breakthrough song is 'Ice Queen' from 2nd album, Mother Earth(released 2000). Try Ice Queen live from the Black Symphony concert.
Within Temptation are from The Netherlands, same as Epica and Floor Jansen;-) Lead singer is Sharon den Adel. She learned her singing mainly by herself. Within Temptation started in the nineties.

FINALLY!!!! Within Temptation getting some LOVE!! I'm a huge Nightwish fan, but it was WT that lead me to them and they are my 1st symphonic love!! Sharon del Adel is an amazing singer in her own right. Within Temptation just finished their North American tour with Iron Maiden (which was frickin fantastic by the way)...they are now on a co-headline tour with Evanescence. They've been around since the mid-nineties and are headliners in their own right in Europe. Dive into the older stuff, like many suggestions here have pointed out.

Like others already said, Within Temptation is currently on a European tour with Evanescence. Just 2 days ago, I had the chance to see them live. This is a band that really knows how to do its live shows. Their show is bombastic and Sharon is really a great singer and also performer on stage.
Going down the rabbit hole she's got a beautiful voice will put her up there with floor one of my fav bands you will love it roll on

Nice reaction. Great band from my homecountry, the Netherlands. I've seen them live a couple of times, from a large venue to our local theater. Sharon has a beautiful voice. This is one of their newer songs, but, to be honest, I prefer their older songs. One of my Dutch Top 2000 votes went to their song 'Mother Earth'.
I have a cool story about Within temptation. I was a festival in Munich Germany and Within temptation was headlining the arena second stage, problem was they were playing opposite Metallica in the stadium next door. The arena was empty. Maybe 500 people in a huge basketball arena l. And they came out out and killed it like it was packed arena and gave Everyone a special show with crowd interactions.

Guys I’m really glad your finally doing within Temptation. But I ask you please do some older songs. This is not the sound that made them famous. Might I suggest Angels, Jillian, Faster, The Heart of Everything.

Another lovely reaction. Within Temptation is another great rabbit hole and Sharon is another fantastic Dutch female singer. One of my favorites by them is Somewhere from the Black Symphony live concert. Has Anneke van Giersbergen as a guest singer and the harmonies between the two ladies is just amazing. It is often referred to as the most beautiful duet ever.

Another band with a huge catalog, I too would suggest listening to some of their earlier stuff. The last few years they have been experimenting with different styles.
We have o mountains so the Gods took pity on us and created Dutch metal queens (and they are all so nice, so down to earth, so well... lovely. Sharon is such a great lady)

Sharon and the band are not into evil stuff. They just tread on the dark side sometimes. Another great Dutch symphonic gothic style band. The do beautiful positive stuff as well. Check out "Don't Pray for Me". Another powerful song.

Ah You found a new rabbit hole. Another great Dutch symphonic metal band. Sharon den Adel the lead singer is 48 now and still going strong. She is completely self taught!! If you decide to go down this rabbit hole, you will be having a good time. Especially their live shows.

Love Sharon . I think she a beautiful person. I really like her lower register and her high is awesome. Her and her partner Robert have been together since high school and have three kids and right now he's mostly a stay at home Dad. Because it was hard on the guys in the band when he was in the band also. Floor and Sharon are Dutch. FYI Floor is a highly sensitive person or HSP. She's sort of an empathy.

Sorry to have missed the premiere of your great reaction to a great band with the amazing Sharon den Adel on vocals.
I've heard of this group, but never really listened to them. The lyrics of this song are...interesting. Seems to be about someone who has done something dishonorable, maybe evil and now regrets it but doesn't know how to make amends or go on. Kind of cool actually. This would make a great story, maybe my next little project. Digging the visuals, drummer is killing it, and her vocals are really good. Stay safe, God bless, keep rocking.

Yeah! You get perfectly the meaning of the lyrics, as Sharon said the Purge Is about the scars we left in the people around us, scars we do without want it and those what want it to make and those scars we receive from another people in the same way.

So now I believe you have hit two of my favorite heavy metal singers. Right here you have my favorite, Sharon ... and I think you already did Brittany Slayes, from unleash the archers, who is a new one for me too this past year but she has worked her way right up to number two or three in my list. Okay, I'll commit she is now my number two, and my new number three is brand new to the symphonic heavy metal genre, and her name is Diana Leah. She is in a band called Delain,and I think that just released their second song as they now regrouped the band with her. Diana is softer and sweeter, whereas Britney is power and heavy hard but where Sharon has it all. Wait, maybe it was Delain that you already reacted to... but you still have yet to do Unleash the Archers. I suggest you start off with their song called Awakening.. wear your seat belts!!!

When I first saw Arthur, I thought Animal had cut his hair and shortened his beard, lol. I'm assuming Chrissy doesn't like her steak rare... just kidding... just kidding.
First time I heard Within Temptation was back in the 90s when they were first starting out. The keyboardist in our band was dating an artist from the Netherlands and she brought over the Enter album for us to listen to while we were cooking and hanging out. Think that was my first experience hearing symphonic type metal. To be honest, I don't listen to them that much and just know a few songs here and there. More familiar with their earlier works from the Mother Earth, The Silent Force, an The Heart of Everything albums which are 15-20 years old at this point. First time hearing this one by them. Sharon den Adel can still bust out the vocals, as good as ever. See Jeroen is still on bass for them and Ruud is still on guitar. Do not recognize the drummer or the other guitarist, though. Cool reaction guys.

Sharon is generally regarded as one of the best in the genre, alongside Floor and Simone.
