WT changed a lot over years. Sharon still can sing high and light but in newer songs she sounds more like on The Purge. Every album is different and I think it's good, there are bands that just do the same song over and over again, with Within Temptation you never know what you'll get :D
The songwriters of this song are: Robert Westerholt / Sharon Den Adel / Daniel Gibson. While you're on the European tour and stranded in the Netherlands (Epica, Within Temptation and a bit of Floor) and you're a guitarist I hope you can find the time to react to this TOP LINEUP OF MANY MUSICAL INTRUMENTS/SINGERS: The Source is the 9th studio album from Ayreon, a progressive metal/rock opera project by Dutch musician Arjen (Ahr-Yun) Anthony Lucassen, released on April 28, 2017. *_The Day That The World Breaks Down_* is a song that features all 11 (quite well known) main guest singers (you’ll be surprised) and is taken from that album. Arjen himself is telling (in subtitles) who the singers are and which instruments are used and by which standards. Btw. The clip is 13 min. long and I think you won’t regret it !! Official (Arjen’s) clip: ruclips.net/video/oFuMKdrzPqU/видео.html
9:18 I'm trying to figure out where i would place them? Sharon den Adel often has let us know in interviews that she doesn't like to be put in 1 spot (genre if you like). Like you said yourself, it's healthy for a band to evolve. Within Temptation has seen and incorporated a lot of styles and have been experimenting a lot also. The album Hydra shows us a lot of these experiments with some surprising collaborations like the one mentioned by Oletta below here. In the last past years they went more modern, with more use of synthesizers, sometimes disappointing fans, but i personally admire that they stick to their plan. The album Resist has the most epic song ever written on it called "Raise your banner" which i still can not listen to without a big smile on my face. Here's the link to it: ruclips.net/video/-QdgoBYUHBU/видео.html Thank you for the great reaction and let music be music without any boundaries.
for a 2009 era song with gritty rock type vocals from sharon, like here, try JANE DOE, whether from the album or live.... driving drums and Sharon power ....
THIS song was released after the RESIST album,,,, a single.. LIKEWISE, in 2003, they released an NON album track single, a cover of KATE BUSHs song RUNNING UP THAT HILL... it is a GREAT live performance song , try 2004 OPERA 29 show of festival.... and the official video is quite neat.... EVEN the video of THE MAKING OF RUNNING UP THAT HILL video is cool to watch the behind scenes stuff.
I might suggest that the current general for within temptation would be Synth-Symphonic Metal. I would think hiring orchestras for albums albums can be quite expensive, As they have in the past for at least the silent force and the heart of everything albums. So synthesized orchestral moods and tones is Cost saving.... But there are one off concerts with full orchestra are absolutely amazing to see and to listen to and absorb.... The black Symphony concert is the best music DVD that I own, And even The bonus dvd is worth it... As it shows the making of the show and other things. You should also listen to Amor ants which is more contemporary ssynth or symphonic metal. I 1st saw them as they were the opening act for within temptation in 2014. Elise Ryd is An excellent... She is more sharp than the sweetness That we hear from Sharon.... I just think they have too much growling and grunting in the are songs for my total appreciation.
They have a new album out called RESIST the album has the same new digital sound as this SINGLE - the PURGE. Nice reaction! I noticed her singing to your breath away lol and it was then you realize You been under a rock for awhile on this band lol
@@MattFarkas I actually only discovered this band a few years back. I was thinking about it and think you should check out RAISE YOUR BANNER it’s off the new album! She does some of her opera at the end, shit is awesome.
My vote is for within temptation because I feel they are the most approachable the most absorbable Catalog of music out of the 8 major Popular metal bands. I can only handle about 3 of the performances by the performances by night wish... Maybe it's like scotch and it takes more time to appreciate them?, But their tone is always more Is operatic and theatrical, Whereas with intention and Sharon's voice which enters my heart soul and mind mind so well, Is more on delivering messages, And images, And either hits me with healing power or with energizing power.... That is what is most amazing about them in her voice and their songs, To me. I don't really like the sound and tone coming from Lacuna Coil, And although Simone sing she's very well, I still find it hard to absorb Epica as much as much as others, Such as, Unleash the Archers ( Current 2nd favorite of mine), Kamalot and Maybe even Delaine, Which is currently a non band. And Amaranthe are hit-and-miss for me,
Evanescence is totally metal! And even if it weren't, my channel is all about listening to any music I haven't heard before, so it would qualify. :) I'll definitely have a reaction for you in the near future!
SHARON IS ALWAYS Z BEST... She shows desperation vocally, very well on this one. NOW react if you will, to DON'T PRAY FOR ME They have been very diverse over the decades, Now spending 36 plus years. And we also love her light lyrical early tones and her soaring operatic Bridge pieces that she has in many songs. I guess you haven't really heard the heart of everything or the silent force album so much... There are soft emotional ballads and there are heavy gritty rock Vocals... Love them all... They're out of all of their catalog there is only one song I really don't like and that is called "Entertain You" ... And there are 3 songs on the unforgiving album that are usually just fast track forward/ Skip. That is a very good batting average... And most of their music videos are killer
They've changed a lot over the years, but they are always amazing
🔥🔥🔥

You should check out Within Temptation - And We Run ft. Xzibit next.
WT/Sharon was belting lyrics way back when. Just give a listen to ''Faster'' the video clip version is best for a really tight guitar solo.
