- While I never expected THIS would be the next LEGO Nintendo set, I'm so happy it is
This the new Super Mario ? Block (71395) set from LEGO that will be released on October 1st, 2021. At first, I did not understand this set, why it was made, what it was supposed to do - nothing. However, after building it and discovering all the many, micro-scale details hidden inside along with the incredible engineering and design, I have to say this might be my new favorite LEGO set of 2021!
This set was sent to me by LAN and LEGO. All thoughts and opinions in this video are my own.

What do you think about this new LEGO Super Mario “?” Block?
It's super cool!
The fact that this is a Super Mario 64 specific set but there were no ? Blocks in the Mario 64 game kills this set for me. They should have just done a large Peach's Castle set with actual minifigures like we all wanted.
I feel a peach's castle display would be large like the ucs gunship or the hogwarts castle. I like that its a coin brick with hidden display features. I like that it can fit on a billys shelf.
At first I was like "?", but then I was like "!"
Did I miss something? Why did this come out before the unboxing?
How to spin Bowser on the boss stage: there's two obvious wheels on both sides in the front in which to use to spin the platform.
For anyone who grew up with N64, this definitely brings back a lot of nostalgia.
The same can be said for the DS remake, I played it as a kid
Since I'm not a Mario fan it's a pass, but this set blew me away, definitely exceeded all expectations I had for it.
Nice video. I just bought it and began with bag one, but have to build it in secret as my wife hates that I spend my money in Lego.

As someone who enjoys games and video game nostalgia, this is right up my alley. I haven't been a LEGO fan in more than 30 years, but I've been so tempted when the LEGO Super Mario sets came along. I find myself wanting to get it and even more so when I found out that LED lighting kits can be purchased for this set. The lighting kits alone add more of a "wow" factor to it. This set and Bowser's Airship would be really nice to have.

Good review Emily! Love your Mario hat. I think if you place your finger on the hinge at the side of the stage and spin fast, Bowser can be thrown away just like the game.

I do think the micro builds will be expanded on in the future.

Very well designed lego set and sure brings back old memories. The only thing to hint out is the accuracy of the Bowser boss battle. In the game it represent the first Bowser boss battle as in the instructions. (Bowser in the Dark World)
But then the background on the set should be black/turquoise, the stage blue/navy and not dark purplish, black.
They probably accidentally mixed up these details, which is understandable due to the three different Bowser battles.
[SPOILERS FOR THE SET]
Already loved the set, but that Bowser figure is PERFECT. I think the boss room could have looked more like it does in the game, like making the floor dark green and adding a spike ball either side, but it does the job fine, at least they made the background purple so you can tell what they were going for. I love how they even managed to make a play feature of spinning bowser around and then releasing him. It's genius.
Some people say the set is disappointing, but this has got to be my favourite micro scale set ever and a perfect love letter to Mario fans. The mechanism looks awesome, the box is fantastic and the detail and easter eggs for each level are truly brilliant. This is a must get for me! :D

I think people should judge things for what they are instead of what they were expecting. Specially considering leaks aren't always true

Can you use the black gears to spin it? (Think about the Ice Skating Rink Promo from last year) Great video - I didn't want the spoilers, but I couldn't help myself - especially because I probably won't get this on release day (just too much great stuff coming out on Oct 1)
In 1:10 in this video yoshi misses his eyes 😅... but I have that "?" Block to and I love it because 'super mario 64' was my first mario game that I have played, es a 5 years old kid.

I don't think id buy it, but it's def interesting. I agree with being disappointed in not getting an actual Peach's castle set. I grew up on the NES, SNES, and the 64 but the only Nintendo set I'd like to get is the actual NES as the Mario sets have felt kind of gimmicky (Sorry Emily, I know you love them and I totally respect that)
I like how it is designed
The theme is not worth the price of this set for me personally but I think it’s a great idea for a set and I hope Lego make more fun things that work like this in the future!

I agree with you, the expectations of a Peach Castle set shouldn't stand in the way, this question block is amazing. Have you tried to have LEGO Super Mario interact with it? I believe I saw a tile... Anyways, thanks for the video!

That Bowser build is fantastic! I’m pretty confused on that area imo, as I don’t play the game, but that’s still cool! Also LEGO has done Secret features before like they’ve added one for Diagon Alley, Ninjago City Gardens, and even more items
I think you are supposed to rotate the gears underneath the bowser platform to spin it
Why is the bottom not filled in properly? The cool thing about the cube are the secrets inside. Kind of defeats the purpose if you can just see inside it when you pick it up. I bought it without realizing the bottom wasn't filled in, now I just want to return it to be honest.
What happens when you scan the barcode on the floor of the castle with Lego Mario? 4:09 in the video.

Wow it is small, I wonder will Lego and Nintendo ever make the legend of Zelda set I would buy them all. I’m not a fan of the characters they should’ve done regular Lego like they include in Star Wars. Yeah definitely this is a sale grab kinda lame.

It's still a disappointment given that the ? block never appeared in the super mario 64 game. So why call it that? Lego sure knows how to disappoint fans while selling out.
Yeah… not sure how they ended up with that decision since it’s literally not in Super Mario 64. Seems like an important detail to keep in mind 😅
You spin bowser on the set by using the gears on the bottom.
