I'm a big Jimmy Page fan, but why was so much of Page in photos and video in this video about Clapton's feeling about EVH. Brian May was at least mentioned by name, but not Page who was shown at least if not more as Clapton. I really hate when I see videos like this when the story line of a video has something that doesn't belong, but the people doing the videos used visuals of someone like in this case Page who had nothing to do about this narrative of Clapton's feeling on EVH. This isn't like using the old by - line, "It's only Rock and roll", in this case it differently doesn't belong. So to ever who produced this video why did you use Jimmy Page's likeness, and I mean you used Page's likeness more than even Clapton's likeness(and remember I'm a BIG Page fan who's also actually meet Page twice) so.........WTF!!! 🎸 🕶️

Jump is an incredibly simple song as far as the guitar goes. The thing about it is its famous hook which is played on keyboard, and which isn't all that complicated either.

Yes. Being rejected by your heroes & the people who called you to arms to strive hard as a player could be really deeply upsetting...... In fact it could be Earth shattering.....I don't think Eric fully understood how sensitive Edward was about things like this..... Ed shouldn't have called Eric a 'teabag' though. Whatever that means. But thankfully the mutual respect for their respective ARTISTRY survived the clashes & misunderstandings . (Paul)

Eddie‘s Style is Not Even 0,001% similar to Clapton‘s Style. Eddies biggest Influence was Clapton? That‘s just complete nonsense! Nothing indicates this, nothing at all! Both have nothing in common, neither Genre nor technique nor Style. So why should Clapton care about Van Halen.

I agree. I think Eddie was more interested in Clapton's tone than anything else. Think of the guitar's sound in "Sunshine of Your Love." The heaviness yet the clarity of it for its era. Eddie worked very hard at finding the tone that he thought bested everyone else's, including Clapton's, & today Eddie's amp inventions/modifications are standard issue among amp manufacturers.
I agree their styles are nothing alike but Ed's "worship" of Clapton seemed pretty real, but I really think he loved Clapton's tone & wanted to improve on it. As far as learning all Claptons songs note for note, I'm pretty sure Eddie was like that with all the songs they covered as a party band, by Zeppelin, Deep Purple, ZZTop, etc. Clapton's wasn't the only music he tried to play perfectly.
I was 13 in 1978 when VH went nationwide & the first song I heard by them on the radio was "Runnin with the Devil" & my gawd, the tone alone of that opening guitar riff was unlike anything I'd ever heard before, even after Cream, Deep Purple, Zeppelin. I became so fascinated by Eddie & remember him speaking way back then of Clapton being his biggest "influence" & saying to myself "how?" But I really think Clapton influenced his guitar tone chasing rather than his raw guitar playing.
