Have kept tropical for 5 years plus. Think it’s time to move into reef, due to watching these spot on videos.👍
I do not see a way to subscribe, but love this series thus far. Thank You!!
When I get a Aarons notification I stop everything to watch! Bravo can’t wait for the next one. Thanks
😮👍🏽
Top video as usual. Well explained. Keeps us even old reefers glued to watching 😂
I love my evo. Be sad when it goes for my reefer350. I've learnt so much in the 2years of having this tank after the disaster of my rsm130d due to my old lfs being crap for advice. Kettering aquactics have been great with me and I will be getting everything from them for my next build. Love your lfs
😁👍🏽
Great video and great delivery of information in a friendly and understanding format .
Really enjoying your content, after a 15 year break from keeping a marine tank .
Thanks
Lee
That was fun!!! Thank you for sharing. Waiting for espisode 4!!!!
😁👍🏽
Love your vids. I especially like this series because I've been considering this particular tank for awhile
😁👍🏽
Just Starting Out, You've been very helpful!!
great for knowledge
take the stress off when you watch the videos should write your own book on exsprinence you have had with the hobby. always come back to this channle when i need to know something
Thank you so much you are amazing I learned so many things thank you
😁👍🏽
Great audio, save these settings 👍I'd refrain from stating that bottled bacteria will work 'instantly'. A good thread on R2R showed it could be between 2 days to 2 weeks to show a noticeable affect on ammonia levels. Interested in your ammonia history to prove this though 🦉🍻
Do you still do a water change during this process and add any water treatment after the water change?
Instead of fish, can i cycle with copepods and then add like colony, thanks
Hey aaron i got this tank with the skimmer first salt tank ever wish me luck. I have learn a lot in this channel good luck with your store cant wait for an update
Hi, how often do you recomend to test the water parameters, during cycle process ?
love your videos man
just started my first reef after watching your super cheap reef videos and its looking good
Definitely loved this video! Liked and subscribed so I can keep up on the learning since I want a saltwater tank. I have 3 freshwater tanks now but want to upgrade my hobby to something a little more challenging. Did my research on beginner saltwater tanks and read that beginners should have a tank at least 55 gallons because of everything that can go wrong. Sounds pretty expensive to find out if I will fail or succeed. Anyone have any thoughts/opinions on that?
Hey did you end up getting the tank. And I don’t think you need a 55g I would start with a 25.
I want that Lubbock's fairy wrasse
😁👍🏽
Just got my first marine tank the fluval Evo..i will be taking back the live rock, due to not wanting beasties in my tank..getting dry rock instead. Just bought my new return pipe to replace my duck bills, to create waves with no need for wave maker, also bought the smart switch! Im also surprised how quickly you added fish? Thought you had to run tank for WEEKS before adding fish?
Are you in the seattle area?
Hi I have now got the Fluval Evo 13.5 tank not sure if i'm doing something wrong or not the tank is full chamber 1 and 2 are full but chamber 3 is around half full is this right.
For a quicker cycle you can lower your salinity. fish are fine at lower salinity but bacteria multiply faster.
Very true....
Low salt high temp for fast cycling. salt can be very low, almost hypo levels and temp in low mid 80's
In my country there are only clown fish Nemo. Hahah. That will do it... : )
Was there an episode 4 ?or did it all go wrong?keen to know as I’m considering this as my first nano tank!
Comes out on Sunday 12th January at 9pm UK time
I copied this method on a fluval 32.5 gal. and everything is going VERY well! its been 7 days since adding fish. the only thing is I don't like to turn the light off because my fish (2 baby clowns) get SPOOKED. They get scared and panic. soo I leave the blue light on very dim and they seem to sleep wayy better with zero stress. any suggestions? just afraid of algae.
What fish do you recommend for the fluval evo and how many could actually do well in it? Also, do I suppose feed the fish lightly after 24 hours has passed or feed them lightly right away?
When will the next episode be up Aaron looking forward to seeing the next steps in this nano reef series.. might have to get one if all goes well 😝👍
Aren't we supposed to allow the tank to cycle for a few weeks before adding any fish?
The tank can be cycled in as little as 1 to 2 days with bottled bacteria like turbo start, seachem stability or bio spira
@@malachifry3525 How much Stability is required for a fast cycle?
If you watch till later in the video he adds biological inhancer
S/V Two Drifters like three to five times the recommended amount to cycle a tank in 1-3 days
Good question. The answer is yes, it takes anywhere from two to six weeks. People who say otherwise don’t understand the “nitrogen cycle”... there are no magical chemicals to speed up the cycling process other then bottled bacteria. However, even that still requires several weeks in the water with an ammonia source to grow to the necessary level to accommodate the amount of waste a fish will produce, especially in a small tank. I would under no circumstances follow the advice in this video if I were you my friend. You asked a good and thoughtful question, therefore you will be a wonderful fish keeper at some point in time. Good luck to you sir.
Is this a case of getting the salinity correct temp ph etc then just add fish and colony or do i need to add conoly prior to adding fish ?
Ive just got one will be my first whens the next episode coming!😣😂
can you tell me the biggest difference between RODI water and Distlled Water? can i use distilled water to mix with salt for my first tank? or just for top off?
The kell brook of reef tanks
What happened to the trumpet you were suppose to put in place of the duck bills to not buy a wave maker ??
Next Episode
I have a planted flex 15 that's running for over 4 years and this looks interesting
Can you add Chaeto micro algae to the filter box
There’s a slight issue. I bought the tank, and was about to buy the heater until I realized the lights get REALLY hot! I’m sure this is normal, but do I even need the heater, considering the heat of the light?
You still got the RFG on here? Great series btw 👌
It hasn't been fitted yet. That will come in the episode when we add upgrades
Aarons Aquarium you didn’t happen to get it from Aquarium cabinet solutions, did you?
Hi, I've been cycling my tank during lockdown, with out fish. I just added fish today as the tank cycled properly. Do you still reccomend keeping lights off or am I good to go ahead and have them on? I didnt have the lights on for the last 2 months.
I'd leave lights off until fish settle in.
Have an aquareef 300 but praying Santa will bring me an evo
I have a 40+ gallon Hexagonal tank and these videos are helpful but im still just not sure how to set up
Hey Aaron I’m getting that tank for Christmas and I’m getting clouns
*clowns
Sweet 👍🏽
Am I able to use filter media from my well cycled freshwater tank for my saltwater tank? Do I still have to add in bottled bacteria?
Unfortunately saltwater and freshwater bacteria are different. So it wouldn't work.
What was the name of the
The ammonia and pH tester that was able to hook to your phone called??
Seneye 😁👍🏽
How many small fish can fit in a tank this size?
How much sand did you use ??
Will think tank be adequate for 2 seahorses
I'd say so, yes.
You are measuring ammonia levels but you aren’t measuring the nitrates, which will spike and they are also toxic to livestock.
As I mentioned in the beginning of the video. I'm testing Ammonia, Nitrite and Nitrate. Nitrite and Nitrate aren't mentioned in this video because they aren't testable yet as fish have literally just gone in. Let's not get ahead of ourselves this is supposed to be a step by stwp for newbies. 👍🏽
How do you decide how many fish you can put in a tank? Are the two clowns all the fish you can have in this?
Yes! No need to over do it in such a small tank. They will be the feature of the tank. I'll also have inverts like sexy shrimp to add a bit of extra colour and movement. If you were to upgrade the Filtration then if you wanted to you could definitely add more fish if you wanted. You just need to be mind of the space they have available.
@@MyMidlifeCrisis2024 Thanks. Those clowns are beautiful. I have a 30 gal I'm going to set up once i have all the equipments. Defintley going to do two "Nemo"'s since I have two littles at home that love those movies, and I like them too. How many other similarly sized fish would i be able to put. I like pajama cardinals, royal gramma, watchmen goby, chromis. I would want to start with the clowns but have also read that they're supposed to be added in order of aggression. I love your videos by the way. Funny and very easy to follow for newbie.
Got it
awesome i got same tank
😁👍🏽
How is the Water oxygenated without a skimmer especially when using a tank lid?
By pointing the outlets at the surface to create surface agitation. The Seneye also measures Oxygen and it's perfectly fine without a skimmer.
I want to buy a plug and play reef tank but can't seem to find any for a 180-200 litre tank could you help me ? My budget is £380 🌟🙋♂️💁♂️
Your simple budget reef just went way up in price with those Wyoming whites! Lol
The tank is budget the contents are personal preference. Same as upgrades. It's all optional.
Absolutely, that’s why I’m laughing. Fritz 9 and all the others also increase cost. Was just watching a RUclips with someone really pumping out an evo. That easily quadrupled the costs but sure was nice! 👍🏻
whens the next one please
no quarantine?
Quarantine would require an extra cost and as these fish are the only ones going in, it's not really something I needed to touch on in this series.
@@MyMidlifeCrisis2024 pop and drop baby 😁
Can you add the bacteria before adding the fish?
Yes. The bacteria need food though (ammonia) so don't leave it too long to add fish after adding the bacteria.
Do Clownfish not need a 200l + Tank?
No 😁👍🏽
@@MyMidlifeCrisis2024 but our fish shops say they get much bigger. Yours are just babys but wait 1-2 years...dont you Think?
I though u can add corals before the fish. not really get it why needs couple weeks :o
how did you cycle your tank in 48 hours ?
Looks like he used the fish to create the ammonia for the cycle. 😪
There not a single fish shop where I live that would sell fish for a tank that's only been set up for 48 hrs
once our living room is finished being decorated floored plastered etc.... we are going with this tank thanks to your video recently.
excited to finally try out salt water.
cheers dude :)
😁👍🏽
I was told to cycle my tank for 2 months ?
👍🏽
👍🏽
Will the clowns be ok in there for life or will they need to be moved on when mature? 😃
Pretty sure they will be good for life!
That seneye reef costs more than the tank
Cant believe your local to me
This was supposed to be a budget tank but it's ending up costing like $400
so have you stopped this series.
I've personally used the fritz turbo start, atm colony, and dr Tim's. I liked all 3. But as far as price, atm is the cheapest here in the states.
😁👍🏽
It's all budget and all until he pulled out the Seyene and its dongo
Lost me then you decided to add fish on day 2 on an un-cycled reef 🤦🏻♂️... There is a chap here on YT with a nitrogen cycle video tutorial you may want to check 😅
Cycled?...dont think so.
How much did these clowns cost, how about in USD?
For the Wyoming white clownfish which he got, I have seen them from $40 to $60 each
"budget" the seneye reef is already $250 lmfao
But that's optional though? You can just manually test can you not?. Lmfao.
Yeah meters like this don’t work. Nothing but over priced snake oil....
7hours
what happen to your youtube
The fact that you are highlighting the Seneye or the pair of clowns that costs more than the rest of the entire setup is doing a huge disservice to the people truly looking for a budget reef system. Completely turns me off from this entire series......
