      What disappoints me about this aquarium is you can only have 2 tiny salt water fish in it. So what is the point of owning one.

    Absolute nuggets in these vids.
    Air stone in the evening, mimics a protein skimmer I'm guessing.
    Media baskets are expensive, but very very versatile. Even chuck some chaeto in with a small submersible led.
    Easier sponge/floss cleaning.
    Who said reef tanks are hard?

The Evo I have a Sicce 1.0 pump, RFG, InTank chamber 1 basket, and a pair of Kessil A 80 Tuna Blues (very tall rock smack in the middle, hence the 2 lights). Great video as are all you post!

    Dude. This series is SUPER helpful. I really appreciate how clear you are with your instructions, without making things too complicated. Thank you. One quick question: you said doing the water change replaces many trace minerals needed by the tank creatures (magnesium, calcium, etc.), but isn’t RODI water empty of minerals and such? Isn’t that one of the benefits of RODI water? That’s it has no minerals or solids in it?
    So do you have to add minerals back to your tank separately? Thanks!

    Nice tutorial. I'm about to set up my first Evo, this should get me on the right track. I'm fitting the protein skimmer, though, because I've always wanted one! Seems to me that using micro bubbles to clear the water is exactly what a protein skimmer does, not sure why you'd want to swap one for an air stone and pump.

    • @mikkelkirketerp4884
      @mikkelkirketerp4884 3 года назад

      He said in a previous video he didn't want to add a skimmer to keep cost down, but he would never discourage anyone from getting a skimmer if they wanted one, as it is a nice bit of kit.
      So my guess would be that in this tank he thinks it makes better sense to have that prefilter compartment working as a filter and not a skimmer.
      And then an airpump and block is far far cheaper than a skimmer.

Can I use any canister filter or does it have to be specifically for salt tanks. Any tips on great beginner corals and even beginner fish please?

  • @karennation3580

    I added some corals that had green alae on lugs and I have a small amount of green alage now onmy rocks and a little in sand. Could that be from the frag plugs? I like ot leave on plugs because I start at bottom and gradually move up so should I replace with new plugs or is it safe to add plugs with alag. I did have a crash afterward that started from low salinity and It threw off all my parameters and had amonia, nitrites, trate ect so maybe from that.

    Or is it nessesary to have it in the back chambers ?

    • @MyMidlifeCrisis2024
      @MyMidlifeCrisis2024  5 лет назад

      Don't put it in the display. The bubbles are to big directly from the air block. If you put it in the chamber the big bubble s that you don't want pop at the surface inside the chamber and only the little bubbles go in the pump. That's why I say to put the block at the side of the pump and not in front of it. 👍🏽

Are they stronger than current orbit or the ones in biocube? currents are 18 watts for 8 to 24. Can I grow lps like duncan, blasto acans, torch ect maybe towards top, on high? I have heard people say not eneogh blue so maybe I can add blue strips, would that increase p;ar? I dont want o rep;ace the light because I like how it looks and would you recomend the skimmer or xrtra media, if so what media? I use purigan, chemipure elite and poly bio filter and it has worked great for me and up until now...tank crash>> I never had algae and started with dead reef saver rock but never turned light on until almost 3 months or added coral until after that even.

    Hi aaron, first I want to say I love your videos! We are moving soon and interested in setting up a saltwater tank but I’m so confused on the bacteria cycle and how to keep up with it. I also am confused with knowing how much water to put into your tank, so you can figure out how much salt to put in your water before putting it in. We are considering a 40 or 55 gallon tank. Also, how do you know when and how much bacteria to add into your tank? Do you have to do this before adding any fish and/or coral? Any tips are appreciated! Thank you!!!

    Hello, please help me! I have some Zoas and they seem to have Zoa pox. I can’t seem to get hold of any Furan 2. What can I do to treat this? As they are really nice colonies, Rastas and stuff. Please help!!

    id recommend some more mechanical filtration(poly-filter and filter floss.) and maybe some purigen. Also more bio media.

      Two months in and Nitrate is 10ppm, Phosphate is 0.08ppm corals and fish are doing great. More is overkill and an unnecessary extra cost.

    @aarons aquarium - Maybe running one of the air powered Reefloat skimmers would be a better option than just introducing microbubbles?

    • @MyMidlifeCrisis2024
      @MyMidlifeCrisis2024  5 лет назад +1

      As I said in the video, it's completely optional. I do it this way because it lifts stuff out of the display. A skimmer can't do that.

    Hey buddy I have to say your videos are top notch!
    I have this tank too, had it running for around a year now and I absolutely love it.
    It's good to see your upgrades you have made.. I am thinking about making these changes to mine to like your compartments in the back. I have a couple of corals in too and they are doing well. Did you make the compartments yourself bud or buy them?
    Great advice mate looking forward to seeing the other videos on this tank! 👍👍👍

    Salt doesn't evaporate so when you do a water change why do you add salt?

  • @aaronaubuchon1730

    Hey Aaron. So your saying we should wait 2 to 3 weeks to add coral ?

    • @MyMidlifeCrisis2024
      @MyMidlifeCrisis2024  4 года назад +1

      You should wait until your tank looks like it's ready to accept Coral. Water testing will tell you when your tank is ready.
