Really useful video for those of us in the planning stages of moving to Portugal. There is so much bad and incomplete information out there, so it's nice to hear from people who do this for a living.

Really useful video, Dave. None of the expats I’ve met here seem to know what to do regarding taxes. I hope Fresh Portugal is doing your taxes for free, because this is definitely getting shared😂
    Thanks!

This is all such good information! We are moving to Portugal next year and this video makes me want to set up an appointment with this firm to figure out how we need to arrange our business to make sure we’re not getting totally screwed on taxes. But why are so many people warning that these guys are not Portuguese but Brazilian? What difference does it make as long as they understand the tax laws?

Thanks Dave for informing us regarding about the new tax laws in Portugal. I’m still not fully understanding about the NHR rules. I would like to speak with someone about it here in New York regarding about these new laws.

One cannot be naife on this, we know the side business that runs on immigration and legalization. So my first thought is not to trust, neither the Portuguese citizens (in that role) neither the Brazilians. If you want the most reliable information you have the official state and their offices. However these videos (alone) serve to trigger questions and rise necessaties to clarification, that can be a good side. I like Dave videos, they are honest. The other guests, I don't know their intentions. Lets assume their good ... ...

It's crazy to think retirement income could be taxed at up to 58%!

    • @louisrios5546

To be clear, the top tax rate in Portugal is 48%, and that rate only applies to the portion of your income that exceeds about 81k euros.

This is so confusing, moving is scary and not having enough information is terrible for the employee. Everyone i asked dont bother even replying. Nobody understands the social security fees, nobody understands taxes benefits what's claimable. The only thing that clear is the percentage payable, not discussion on rebates, what claimable? Benefits. What is clear is what contribution that one contributes to the system. But what the benefits are totally lost. The percentage is high going towards social security 35% so what does one get back for this hugh percentages that employers and employees contribute!

Just an advice to you: these people have heavy accent and it's hard to understand what they're saying. the background music is making it even harder. no need for background music when an accountant is trying to explain tax laws. thank you.
