Glassy Mountain Fire Lookout Tower, Clayton, Georia

Glassy Mountain Fire Tower is a USFS facility located outside of Clayton Georgia. Access is via Glassy Mountain Road which is pretty well maintained. Parking is very limited just before the gate with a few pull off spots. Follow the service road up to the tower complex. The USFS maintains a helipad at this location and more radio towers have been built on site. Access to the tower is up until the last landing. The cab is not open but has suffered heavy vandalism in the last few years. The site has great views over the Northeast Georia region and into North Carolina and South Carolina. 7/21
