Thanks for another great video Iain, very enjoyable. I hope it was only your pride you hurt. Being of a similar age I know the feeling well. Looking forward to your next fishing trip
Thanks Andrew I never noticed that there was a large stone hiding in the undergrowth and just caught my heel on it , if I had managed to hold onto the gate it would have saved a fall . Holding onto my rod seemed wiser at the time . After a days fishing we don't seem to pick our feet up high enough I think that its the weight of the boots and tired legs Cheers Iain 🥃
Another day with tricky conditions. One consolation though you kept upright on that bridge! Well done with not editing out the gate incident; a good reminder to all of us to keep focused when on that sort of terrain. Hope the body recovered for the next day and the wind eased off. 😎🍺
I never noticed that there was a stone sticking up high enough to catch my heel while I was walking backwards Mr Mazo . I think that all the fresh air and walking made it difficult to lift my feet . A shower and then a beer helped Cheers Iain. 🥃
Great video Iain, once again that wind and the bright conditions let you down again but still a few showing which was a good sign of something happening but wasn’t to be. Lovely water though Iain and hopefully better conditions for you next time. ATVB. Steve. 🍷
It was a strange week Steve. there were lots of fresh fish seen coming into pools but none were being caught . Caithness can be a bit bleak but when the sun shines it looks great but no use for fishing Cheers Iain. 🥃
Hi John. it's a Rio Scandi Short Multi Tip . I am using the floating tip with a 5ft pollytip on the end . The running line is a cheep milled one that I picked up for £7.99 and welded the loops myself.. I keep recording and always try to edit something worth adding to RUclips Cheers Iain 🥃
Thanks Ian. it was quite a soft landing and I managed to get my breath back quickly enough to get up the hill and head back to the hotel where they have some liquid pain killers. Cheers Iain 🥃
Hope you're back is OK Iain... its an occupational hazard when fishing wild rivers... you never know when the next fall is coming! 😬 It could have been blood loss due to midge bites! 🤣 Tough day... looked a slower and wider part of the river. Cheers James
the midge bite seem a better excuse than tiredness and over doing the bar thing James. we all take a stumble now and again and I remember an old guy that fished the Thurso for about 80years fell and broke a bone and couldn't drive so had to stay at the hotel for weeks . The staff looked after him very well and I wasn't sure whether he had done it on purpose to get an extended stay Cheers Iain. 🥃
I think that If we didn't fall at least once a year we would not be covering some of the best bits of water Paddy .... I remember years ago while fishing in the dark I stepped over a log only to find it jump when I was half way across and then fell on my face It was another angler having a nap . I sometimes carry a torch now Cheers Iain 🥃
It's not the first time for me Big Man. I fish quite a lot for seatrout in the dark and often take up a few steps at speed before a face plant . I was OK by the time I had a shower and got to the bar 👍. Cheers Iain 🥃
when I was walking backwards at the gate I never noticed that there was a large hidden stone and my heel never managed to get high enough . I blame it on the tiredness of walking so far .......... it may have been something to do with not getting away from the bar until 2.30 in the morning . I have a mate J P that has a had a problem staying upright . kept going with your videos Cheers Iain 🥃
Hope the back holds out for the next time looked a bit slow the river on that beat do you use a running line with that short head or is it a full line 🤞🙏 next time.
My back was ok a few minutes later the walk up the hill loosened it off I use a Scandi short multi tip head and running line that I bought a few years ago for £7.99 it was a mill end and I welded the loops myself . I think that I have about 4 others when I had the chance of Cheep tackle I don't mind spending . Cheers Iain. 🥃
Thanks for `my` 3 day fishing trip to the Thurso. I thoroughly enjoyed it! No wonder they call you the `fall guy` !
Thanks for the new Tag I was there for a week so still editing and hope to get the other 3 videos on soon.
Cheers Iain. 🥃
Another great video Ian your cast would put me to shame mate you always give it your best shot .....
One day Derek I will edit a video showing my bad casting and bird nest tangles I may just keep that one to myself 😉
Cheers Iain. 🥃

Tough conditions again Iain, your ability to maintain the standard of casting is quite something. Thanks.
One day I may edit a video with my bad casting and birds nest tangles Paul I think that I will maybe keep that one to myself

I fish for the Dollaghan at night and it wouldn’t be a normal nights fishing if I didn’t fall! 🙃🎣 As long as you’re ok?! 🎣
