The final day on my 2023 Nobo CDT hike
No I did not leave the beer can, bear spray or $3000 worth of gear in my pack on the ground. It was clearly a skit, and if that extraordinarily somehow went over your head and you're triggered, seek help
Well done Ben, love following you’re adventures!
Congratulations it’s was beautiful to watch you tackle this trail. I completely enjoyed each Mike with you… well done
Thanks Lucy

Congrats from Colorado Springs, CO! Safe travels home and we hope to see you back next year on the PCT. Take care
Thanks! Next year unlikely, 2025 maybe?
Congratulations Ben.... from an Idahoan who's watched all your vids of this bucket list ✅ off of yours. Thank you for sharing for your simplistic, informative & picturesque adventure with us. Here's an extra 🍺 for you. 😁
Thanks for the beer, and the ridgeline views along your state border
Ben a merry Christmas and a happy new year thank you for the info on the CDT
No worries, happy new year!
Awesome! Enjoyed your journey!
Thanks!
You have seen and shared more on your journeys here in the United States than most residents have ever seen.
Always welcome here in the states my friend.
Thanks, I'll be back!
congrats mate! videos were great, really enjoyed watching
Thanks Waldo. Thanks for answering my annoying questions in the last 12 months
You did it right, thanks for taking us along 🎊 🎉
Thanks!
Congratulations ,thank you for letting us in on your adventure, best of luck,be safe!
Thanks David
Congrats mate! Glad to see the seppos have at least something going for them with scenery like that. Looking forward to seeing you give the Bicentennial Trail a shot eventually ;)
Thanks. We'll see.... Australia definitely has a worthy big trail in it, it's just up to people and authorities to put it together. So many triple crowners now that are looking for the next big thing
Congratulations! 🎉 Thanks for sharing one mighty adventure! Enjoyed all your jibber jabber.
Thanks Lynette
Really enjoyed watching your thru-hike and joined your channel. Congratulations on a beautiful but tough hike. I thru-hiked the AT in 2020, and would recommend mixing that one in before the PCT. Just more resupply opportunities and water sources throughout, which requires less weight to carry. Plus, a lot more social.
Thanks for watching. Yeah not sure when I'll be back , just have to see what happens, for now back to normal life...
Congrats Ben, this is a huge achievement. I really enjoyed following along all your hikes so thank you for these great videos.
No worries thanks Eamon
Congratulations Ben, and thanks for sharing your trip.
Thanks!
Congratulations
Thanks!
Hi, Ben. I've been following along since the beginning. Just wanted to say thank you for the videos. I've done more enough hiking and mountainerring to know how much time and effort went into this. I will miss looking forward to latest Up and Down every week now. Congratulations on completing the whole damn CDT! 🎉🎉🎉
I'm glad you enjoyed it, gives me something else to do along the trail. I'll be back at some point
Nice!! You are a serious adventurer! Way to go!
Thanks!
Loved following you on your hike. It looked like a pretty good trip. Good luck on your next adventure.
Thanks!
Ripping scenery to finish. Excellent choice heading NOBO. Thoroughly enjoyed the epic. Looking forward to a beer if we cross paths.
Thanks Mick. I look forward to watching your AAWT trip
Thanks for showing another side of this country, scenery very beautiful and so varied. I do hope you find a way to do those other hikes in the US. Wonderful viewing. Congratulations on yet another huge hike. 👍Time for GF of AFL and Melbourne cup.
No worries, anyone but Collingwood...
@@anothertravelflog yep, they put my Giants out.
Congratulations, nice hike.
Thanks!
you run like cliffy young, ben !
well done, big effort.
Nearly as old too...
@@anothertravelflog we're all gettin old mate
Congrats Ben, thanks for sharing your journey, I’ve loved every minute of it. If you do end up on the McMillan, our paths may intersect at Mt. Shillinglaw, I’ll probably be going through there early 27 October.
Thanks Derren. Are you doing the AAWT?
Yep, setting off on the 23rd. I’m going to have the opposite challenge to your hike - maybe not enough water!
@Derrenf66 you'll be ok, spring coming off a wet three years, all Chapman's sources will be flowing in Oct/Nov. You're only real carries will be from low saddle, and possibly camp creek. I'd love to jump on the AAWT in the next few weeks, I'll settle for the McMillan if I can squeeze a short one in
Awesome hike! I’m also glad to see the littering was just for show😂
Congrats Ben, its been great to watch your experience.
Thanks Jason
Congratulations!
Thanks
Congrat's Ben. You are one tough, stoic and resilient person. Enjoy the rest and beers, you deserve it.
Thanks!
So great seeing you finish, love to see mcmillians if you do it
Thanks Joel
Well done. Enjoyed your videos and commentary. I did it sobo this year; quite an adventure.
Congrats! Did we pass ?
@@anothertravelflog I don't think so.
Well Done!
Ben, I honestly thought I was going to watch a train wreck when you first popped open beers at the motel 6 in lordsburg. Boy was I wrong. Then we met at St. Gregorio reservoir in New Mexico. Thanks for the insight your provided and big congrats. Alex from San Antonio. 🎉🎉🎉
Good one Alex, you're one of the few people that saw a mountain lion this year, I think I heard of 5 people seeing them. I remember the night I met you, that night we had a disturbing thunderstorm..
I’ll keep up with your future treks and safe travels back to Australia. Glad we met brother.
Awesome achievement Ben well done massive effort! Dan Andrews is also out now. Get on the beers
Thanks! What great timing !
Well done, I just stumbled on your videos while waiting to do the GPT & thinking about which hike to do in the US in 2025, I was set on the AT now u have me thinking about CDT.
Thanks for your vlog & great job!
Spoilt for choices in the U.S!
That’s why I’m heading there, although with Australia’s Larapinta & overland, I am looking forward to the GPT & hopefully the AAWT one day
Congrats from Silver City
Thanks !
Well done Ben great achievement. Hope ya do a rap up video. Congratulations 🎉
Thanks!
Monumental effort Ben,congratulations I was a bit concerned for your safety and I don’t know how you eat what you do. Beau would be proud of you and when you get back to Victoria you’ll have a new premier, how bloody good is that. Now if that’s not a reason to get on the beers I don’t know what is.cheers.
Thanks Glenn
Ding dong the witch is dead!
Man, I‘m kind of sad, your Crest is over now!
I‘m sitting in the north of Germany and was over the last month always waiting for new videos of yours…
And now its Finished!!
I love your Videos ’cause of the bone dry, but very funny moments, Beer drinkin‘ and for sure the seanery you was walking throu!
I‘m lookin’ forward, for your Video, about the Costs and Gear, that worked and what not!
By the way, for Future Plans, there are some long distance hikes in Europe too…
The Hexatrek, some 3000 Km throu France ore the very new „Nord Süd Trail“ (North South Trail), more than three thousand Kilometers throu Germany!
Thanks Jan. I'll look into them, I love German beer!
Hi Ben, just finished watching your cdt hike - congrats!!! Just wondering please - were you getting weather updates from your phone when in range or you had a garmin watch or something? Also what powerbank did you use? Thanks!
Hi Tash. I just got weather updates on my phone when I had service. Being up high you get service often. Powerbanks, just two anker 10,000s. Could of probably got away with one tbh
@@anothertravelflog thanks so much for your reply. Hope life's been good since your finish and look forward to watching any future hiking adventures you might have.
@@tash4249 I have put on about 18kgs since I finished haha , and I have plantar fasciitis in both feet, so not sure when/ if there will be another one. Never say never
@@anothertravelflog oh plantar fasciitis sucks bad hey! Lots of ppl have had success with it being able to be fixed though, so if the hiking bug gets into you again there'll be a way. As you say, never say never!
hi!
what about the resume, or how ever you wanna call it, what you „promisst“ us?
i would be very happy!
A review video? I spent a few hours a couple of weeks ago breaking down the costs and writing them down. Haven't got around to videoing yet...maybe in the next week or two, maybe haha
Congratulations.. churr
Thanks!
weight on day one and weight on finish day?
I'm pretty sure it was 77kgs, and finished at 65.8kgs. what's that ,25lbs? Funnily I'd lost most of that by 2 weeks into Colorado, then I stayed at a similar level after. 6 months on im over 80kgs...
I've really enjoyed watching your videos... until today. Did you really litter? Did you really just throw that stuff on the ground ?! That's very disappointing.
Of course not...just for effect
Well, it sucked! Also, you need to learn how to behave around moose!
Other than faking the littering and not knowing how to deal with a creature that could kill you quite easily, I loved your videos.
Please come back and take the PCT and the ECT (which includes the Appalachian Trail or AT) to complete your American Triple Crown of trail hiking.
And NO littering!
