Great video, again. The old saying, "it's a small world", is true. I'm 64 and have crossed paths with acquaintances from decades ago. And, in the most unlikely of places. Of course we couldn't remember each other's names, and it always starts with fleeting glances from the corners of the eye. Thinking, man he looks familiar...it can't be..."Ahem, uh, you didn't happen to have done some logging in Alaska back in the 70s, Ice Bay? Logging camp?" Yup it was him! It's a very emotional reunion, actually. No, we didn't cry, you cried.
Rimsky - Korsakov´s Sheherezade seems the right thing for this epic landscape. But the icing on the cake was the bumblebee hovering slomo over some flowers when the theme goes quiet. I’m impressed by the editing.
I think I would have just pulled the tent down and rolled up like a blue burrito to sleep! For Iceland, I think you need the 4 season Hilleberg Nammatj 2 or the GT model for the weather and wind to keep you safe. What a fearsome racket in the wind!...you could write a song! I saw a video about a guy camping in Scotland who went out to rearrange the stars and whish! Gone with the wind! His tent blew up with wind, ripped out all the stakes and with all his gear and his Garmin in it, rolled right down the steep mountainside in the dark and snowing night! He was in a pickle!! Don't tie your Garmin to the tent!
That first night made a compelling case for a double walled tent! Might be part of the reason I never see single walls in the Canadian Rockies. That weather feels a little too familiar ☺️
@@layne4376 In one of her other videos she said this tent was not the best choice for this trip but still looks like a very cool and unique place to go hike and visit. Great minds buddy. You actually said the term for that in a roundabout way. When I was in Deadhorse Alaska at Prudhoe Bay, during winter solstice, the sun never came up while I was there for one week. But with a sky full of stars and moon, and the northern lights going crazy, what unfolds is a snowy, barren, windblown landscape of stark beauty.
Ohhh you were in Iceland! I am an icelander and I have been following you for years and you finallly came here :) :) so awesome to see you video and I cant wait to see the rest ❤❤❤❤
It is crazy how you can run into people in the most random corners of the world....I mean, to me just the fact that we were in Iceland at the same time was crazy! I mean, what are the odds?!! I know I never ran into you, I was mostly in the south and the westfjords, but still, so cool how these things happen. We also ran into my mom's dentist in Iceland, I mean...talk about random I'm glad you go to see the volcano, I went the day before they closed it, such a treacherous trail, all those rocks, but sooo worth it. The good thing for other hikers is that during those days that the trail was closed they started fixing it and it wasn't nearly as bad as when my sister and I went

I randomly met a guy in Prague that I hung out with for some days a few weeks before. I initially met him in Florence, Italy. I gave it a lot of thought but I concluded that the odds werent that small. We were both into visiting cultural cities and as tourists we were a lot more likely to visit public spaces like city squares and downtown areas. This is basically the same. Hard core trailers are bound to do this tour some time in their lives, and you can also scratch the winter season off the list which narrows it down. It's still not likely but more likely than you would think.
It's more a proof of the fact that mass tourism take all the people to the same places, exploiting the same areas and polluting around with intercontinental flights. Enjoy it while it lasts.

Backpacking in volcanic terrain is no joke! I have done it in New Zealand, Kenya, Costa Rica and Alaska, The terrain is just tough. Best hikes in the world? Your video is superb. Thank you for sharing!!
I was wondering where my dear Dixie was. Then all of a sudden you popped up. And you are in Iceland of course. So glad to see you back tearing up the trails again.
Just returned from Iceland myself - it truly is a Majestic, wondrous, amazing place!! They say, in Iceland, it's not the snow or the cold that'll get you in Iceland, it's the wind. I think you're video demonstrates that perfectly! While it does get cold, the wind is absolutely relentless. I'm so jealous you got to see the volcano! It stopped erupting literally a week before I arrived. I really wanted to photograph it and do some drone work there. Still amazing to see the lava fields, but dang! What a place! Thank you for the video! Awesome content, as always!! Hope you enjoyed your time in Iceland, and may it be the first of many trips and trails in Iceland!!
I walked this trail staying in huts on an organised tour in July this year. I had slightly better weather (2 days misty/rain, 2 days sunny periods, not so windy, 12 deg C max temp). The scenery is fantastic & the trail is easy to follow & smooth underfoot (no scree to contend with). The highland section is virtually devoid of life- the occasional plant clinging on, so no insects, no birds until Thorsmork. The green on the mountains isn't grass, it's moss, sometimes so bright it glows. You looked rather chilly in that tent- you definitely need one with an inner & fly with a small gap at the bottom to deal with the horizontal rain. If you ever make it to the UK, you will need something similar... greetings from the English Lake District from a long time follower of your channel
I was going to comment but before I did I read some of the comments and decided everything I wanted to convey had already been said. Enjoy this gorgeous country, keep up the epic videos and stay safe out there.
What a breathtaking hike Dixie. Truly unlike any other place. Yeah, to be honest I was a bit concerned about very heavy winds and the Zpacks tents. It was enough of a concern to be a deal breaker for me, but I understand their attraction to people.
Oh. I remember sleeping up there at Hrafntinnusker in a 4 season double-walled tent and being scared shitless that it’ll blow away. Dixie, you are a brave woman indeed :)
Wonderful! Fantastic video of a beautiful trail. Makes me smile to see your single skin tent though. As a Northern latitudes hiker I’ve rather envied the folks I see in the States using single skin tents or cowboy camping. Not up North! Up here you need double walls, strong pegs and thermal underwear!😀

But I agree, Daisy's cinematography bears many hallmarks of DCI-style design philosophy.
@@Hillbilly-mgjwv Never would have thought of this on my own, but you have to be right. Daisy's sense of timing (or does Aaron edit?) with the high point visually and musically is spot on.
@@LeviBoldt This is my favorite thing about her videos. If it's Aaron that edits/chooses the music, then major props to him. Outstanding orchestras and conductors, powerfully expressive works, skillful cinematography!!! It's a feast for eyes and ears!!
Backpacking in volcanic terrain is no joke! I have done it in New Zealand, Kenya, Costa Rica and Alaska, The terrain is just tough. Best hikes in the world? Well I have not been to Iceland but, I have been to the Milford Track in New Zealand and hiked across Switzerland via The Alpine Pass Route (170 miles). I have also trekked extensively in Nepal. Your video is superb. Thank you for sharing!!
Well that was magical and majestic!!!
So cool. I remember trekking up from Skogar once and had to turn back because the snow was too deep. Iceland is so awesome. Thanks for taking me back.
Landscape is soo cool man. Im down. I put it on the list
Great video,! My daughter and I hiked it in 2019, stayed in the huts.
:O I’m so happy you got to see this! It’s so awesome!
Bucket list hike! Excited to watch with y’all!
Beautiful❣️ Everything flapping in the merciless wind sure brought back memories😁 One fascinating thing about these areas: No trees! 😯
Amazingly beautiful! Thank you Dixie!
You’re crushing it, Dixie. Best hiking videos, bar none. I love that you’re using a drone now, too.
Thank you. Keep it alive.
I was going to comment but before I did I read some of the comments and decided everything I wanted to convey had already been said. Enjoy this gorgeous country, keep up the epic videos and stay safe out there.
Beautiful video. Thanks for sharing your Laugavegur with us.
Epic. That tiny wee tent (David) against an Icelandic wind (Goliath). Great videography.
What a breathtaking hike Dixie. Truly unlike any other place. Yeah, to be honest I was a bit concerned about very heavy winds and the Zpacks tents. It was enough of a concern to be a deal breaker for me, but I understand their attraction to people.
It’s the strongest fabric in the world, so it’s kind of expected to do well in wind
So cool!! Love the music and views.
My hero, keep on trucking ❤️
This was great ! Thank you Dixie for sharing !!! Your videography is soooooo amazing !
Oh. I remember sleeping up there at Hrafntinnusker in a 4 season double-walled tent and being scared shitless that it’ll blow away. Dixie, you are a brave woman indeed :)
I'm guesing the rock enclosure was designed to mitigate the winds but it sure didn't look like it.
@@Golf05 I suppose it helped "a little" but that storm was something...
@@Golf05 I think it would help prevent wind getting under a tent and lifting it up.
@@jamietaylor5570 Also a great source of rocks to put over one’s tent pegs :)
I kept wondering if that would be a good time to institute just a bivy bag over the sleeping bag and pad.
Other worldly and gorgeous! Love this…❤🥾🥾 Thanks Dixie for bringing us along!
I would love a gear list for the Laugavegur Trail!
