you literally have no idea how much you've done for me, i've always wanted to be an actress but i never really went for it because i never understood how it worked. but a while ago i came across one of your video's and from that time i've practised everyday, i've followed classes and i did a ton of research. i genuinely think i wouldn't have done that if i didn't come across your channel and i would've never been ready for it. now more than a year later i will actually try to get an agent and try to actually do what i've always wanted to do, your video's are amazing and i love how you share every little thing we all need to know, i appreciate you man
@@ActingCareerCenter This doesn't have anything to do with this video but my question is I know that a lot of agents or casting directors however you want to put it, look for specific persons (type) for a role, that's understandable but what role or type would I be?how would I know?how I see me can be different then how they would see me.Id like to have an idea about what to shoot for. Thanks for the time
Hi Kurt I’m 15 and I’ve been wanting to do acting for awhile now but I didn’t think I could do it and recently I found your videos and now I’m confident to sign up for drama class and pursue in it thank you so much for what your videos have taught me😊
This man is a true teacher and a master of the craft. Thank you for the resource and content that you provide. If I make it in this industry, I have you to credit.
Hey Kurt, glad to see you as always. I heard one of the most frowned upon colors is actually green. I don't know where that industry standard for self-taping started but I am straying away from that color. Thank you for an awesome video!
Could not agree more, but avoid using a rinkled backdrop/Curtain. Casting Directors have told me that it's distracting. Make sure to Iron the rinkles out. Backdrop must be as plain as possible.
This was EXTREMELY helpful, thank you! I’m about to move into a new apartment in LA, and this insight (and reminder to not worry too much) is exactly what I needed before painting the walls of my new place. Thanks so much!
When you have the grind (Like Kurt) .. backgrounds won't matter... Your gonna bring the same energy every time... Can't wait for your year end audition tracker...👍👍👍👍👍👍
Hi Kurt, I hope you're well. I just wanted to ask a tip for acting: how do you maintain and sustain a character when acting? Often times, shoot days can be long and exhausting and keeping the character (especially when often it's a small time frame in the actual movie) can be challenging (at least for me), what tips do you have to deal with this? (I guess the simplest way to describe the issue is with immersion)
Thanks so much Kurt, your videos help me a ton as I’m starting my career! I would like to add or raise the question about color balance. The backdrop color might not be important for the performance, but the effect it has on the image is (in my opinion). Here is my thought process: Because a lot of cameras (especially phone cameras) perform auto white balance. And depending on the background color together with one’s skin tone it will shift differently. One might look older, ill or tired in front of certain colors just because the camera is thinking it needs to shift all pixels more towards green. And I think we all want to look our best on those tapes. Or am I just overthinking this? PS: I think your grey works great for you though!
This is amazing , I’m gonna buy a portable backdrop because my agency won’t allow me to drop my auditions in a door or behind a plain wall just like that. So portable backdrop and handler it is
Sometimes I tape in front of a closet door, sometimes a drawn window shade, sometimes a blank wall, it depends on the time of day and the ambient light.
Thank you for this video Kurt! Glad to see you posted and are doing well, hopefully I have a couple of questions if you don’t mind answering I wanna know if truck driving is a good side hustle for acting because I plan on moving to Atlanta and I just think it’s great because you can make a schedule and make good money Id also like to know what acting classes in Atlanta go about And if you have any tips for a young actress on anything I’d love to know. Thanks and hope you have a great day
I went to an open casting workshop, was recalled, & in the recall I was 1 of the people shortlisted to stay behind and I had to do a script scene with a person they partnered me with, everybody else who wasn’t shortlisted was told to go home, about 10 out of like 40 of us were shortlisted, I wanna ask what are the chances of me booking the role? When I left the room the casting director was pleased with my audition, & the person who chose us to stay behind was the actual writer of the show
Your channel along with Wendy Lane's has been an absolute blessing to me. I can't get enough. I do have a question you may be able to answer in the future: what about the clothes? I heard some actors saying they recommend you to wear for the callback the same clothes you used for the audition and that is one big question for me cause I got different advice. Any help would be greatly appreciated ♥️♥️
I agree 100 with you the gray definitely is better! Also thank you so much 🙏for all you do for us, I am more passionate then ever thanks to you, also I wanted to ask you I’m living in Virginia now and started looking into acting places to start my teaching for my résumé and how do you know a good one when you see one????
Omg I love this!!! I have a few questions! In the most informative way possible how much money do you make from a film? Is it ok to drop a small agent when you feel you can get a bigger agent? How much it too much for a headshot? Thank you so much!!!! I love your content
1. That's an impossible question to answer. Depends on so many factors like the size of the role, the budget of the film, the union status of the production, the negotiated contract, etc. 2. You are free to switch agencies whenever you like as long as you are not breaching the contract that you signed with the original agency. Just know that bigger agent doesn't necessarily mean better agent. 3. That's subjective. I know actors that have paid well over a thousand dollars for headshots and consider it well worth it.
Hey! I have a couple questions, can you get casted in a movie or tv show without an agent? Can you get casted by uploading self-tapes to RUclips or other social media platforms? Do casting directors or agents even look there? And finally, does an actor have any say in the part they get, as in, can an actor choose which role they want to play?
I had a question, so I just signed with an agency a couple months ago. And my agent had me create an actors access account. I was wondering, can you maybe make a video on how to create a good profile if you have no experience/training? Or what advice would you give me? My profile isn’t anything too impressive at the moment
Not much else you can do than to start going to classes and to start gaining experience. Here's a video on 10 ways to get experience: ruclips.net/video/2kBPlIHIzww/видео.html
Hey Kurt, as a person of color (Indian), who's a professionally trained musician, and has had 3 years of musical theater experience in music school, I'm making the jump and moving to the US to work on a career of music and acting. Do you think there are a good availability of roles for me coming down there? Thank you so much for the information you have been presenting through your channel. It has reduced a ton of my anxiety as now I know what to look for and what to do when I first land in the US! :D
Hey Kurt, I was thinking from the top of this and you touched on it a little, but I love that color grey you have on the wall. It’s a perfect medium not dark but not bright. Any idea on the exact color so I could find it myself?
You look like the guy from the movie/ Big Trouble in Little China - was that you lol Is that why you are named Kurt, because you became a brother to Kurt / Kurt Russell :O)
Hi Kurt! Thanks for your video’s and channel they’ve helped me sooooo much. Can I ask how much did acting classes cost you when you very first started going to classes (and I guess now)? I’ve got a few options I’m looking at but I’m trying to figure out if some of them are rip offs as they seem to offer similar lessons. Also, did your acting classes follow a fixed term which would cover a set amount of different techniques or was it truly random what you would learn every week you turned up to classes? Last question, how many days did you attend classes when you began taking acting more seriously? Thanks! Sorry if that’s a lot
Acting classes were approximately $100 per month in Cleveland Ohio 14 years ago. All prices have gone up since then and it also depends on where you live. Classes are much more expensive in the big markets like NYC and LA. Current prices where I live in Atlanta are around $200 per month for one class per week. Each class I took was on a specific topic. Not random I was taking classes about 3 days per week.
Hi I just watched your video that says how to become an actor and I have a little problem because I’m from Canada and I don’t have any experience in acting. I would like to become one but I don’t know how to become one.
Always start with acting classes. There are plenty of places that teach acting in Canada. You can do a google search for acting classes in your city. If there are none, you can look for online acting classes.
Hey Kurt Yue I’ve been thinking about pursuing a career of acting but my parents want me to be safe and I’m really struggling if I should take the risk or not I worry about if I’ll become homeless and ruining my life I have no one else to ask this question to
If you are smart with your approach, you will not be homeless. That doesn't mean you are guaranteed to make money acting, it means that you will have to find other ways of making an income while you pursue your acting career. I have never relied on acting as my only source of income.
Definitely recommend classes to learn how to act. Background acting is a great way to learn what it is like on a professional set, but doing it won't teach you how to act.
you literally have no idea how much you've done for me, i've always wanted to be an actress but i never really went for it because i never understood how it worked. but a while ago i came across one of your video's and from that time i've practised everyday, i've followed classes and i did a ton of research. i genuinely think i wouldn't have done that if i didn't come across your channel and i would've never been ready for it. now more than a year later i will actually try to get an agent and try to actually do what i've always wanted to do, your video's are amazing and i love how you share every little thing we all need to know, i appreciate you man

Great advice, looking for a specific colour isn't necessary but it is a plus, depending on the type of audition.
