Thanks again for the excellent tips. Yesterday, Chris submitted an audition video and pretended to eat an ice cream bar because the sides said ".. sitting on a rocky outcropping eating an ice cream bar. Stanley speaks as he he eats." Should we have actually gotten an ice cream bar?
Hi I really want to be an actor but don’t know how to really start I feel like acting isn’t such a big thing in Scotland what do you recommend
@@shaynestrain5945 read books(many),memorise lines ,take acting classes, work out (bcz actors are fit),eat healthy food, get out of your comfort zone, work hard, make the most of your day and practice stuff like the ones above daily
Waoo I have seen you with my favorite actor Brian crynston in jerry And Marge go large!! Walter white
Am from TANZANIA and I like acting
Thanks Kurt! I'm a 70-year old beginner, trying not to rush...
i wish you all the success my friend 🤲🏾❤
How's it going so far?
I’m 68 and have just submitted my first self-tape!🤣 Good luck to both of us ☘️💫
Bravo!
Hey Kurt. I landed the part. Rehearsals went well. Start filming on Friday 🙏☘️💫
Thx Kurt .. This isn't even for "beginners" this is also for people like me that's a seasoned actors but need to remind myself if im getting lazy on my submissions... Keep grinding and hope one day Bruce Willis is gonna make a video saying " This is what it was like working with Kurt Yue" 👍😃
I loved the violin analogy because some of my acting students think they can take one or two acting classes and then will magically get offered the standard rich and famous contract from Netflix or other streaming platforms. Getting an agent is another fallacy that many new actors fall into that I'm glad you covered. As an acting coach - I'm constantly saying AMEN to your words of wisdom!
I would love having you as my coach ma'am
I’m a Professional Truck driver in my 40’s . I’ve been driving 18 wheelers for 20 years. I want a career change and decided it will be acting. I’m committed to becoming a great actor so Kurt Yue ‘s videos are the first lessons about this industry I’ve came across. Thank you Kurt for these videos ! I Hope to see you on set in the future 😊
Good luck❤!!
I’m so guilty of number 4. I see it as confidence and believing that I can be great, I’m looking at the finish line before I even run the race. I needed to hear that, thank you.
Saw the trailer to your new movie with Brian Cranston, congrats!!
are interested to join hollywood
I was one of those too quick kind of "career-sprinting" People, but I learned that Experience outranks evereything! Now 7 Months into acting, ive signed with my first Agent! But the last Point really motivated me. No rest when youre winning! Failing really is the quickest way to succeed!
your second point was so useful to me!! no one has ever mentioned this to me & now that you’ve pointed it out, it’s obvious to NOT pretend for a self tape. as usual, thank you for your expertise 🙏
Hello Mister Kurt
I'm student living in France
But all my passion is to be an actor and I want to move in America for acting but I don't know how
how can I get US for acting is that possible to contact a director of casting and make a reservation for My Visa or what should I do
Please help me about that I really need to get US to make my dreams comes true
In the meantime time thanks for reading this
I look forward From hearing you
@@alybadradoumbouya3761 you can work on the US... that'll help you .
@@alybadradoumbouya3761 You should audition online for American shows and movies. It's really helpful to have a resume ready and an agent, but you don't have to. I would move to America first, that should probably be the first step. Don't be messy, have everything planned out. You mentioned you're a student, are you over eighteen? If so, moving to America would be the first step. If not, I'd send in online audition tapes. Getting a role won't be easy, so don't be discouraged, Let people in your life know about your dreams. If you get a part, they'll fly you out to the set in the US. Get an acting coach and work for it. Have the right mindset and take baby steps. Lots of love from Wisconsin, USA.
That third point was SUPER helpful to know. I haven’t done any auditions yet but I feel like out of nerves I would’ve abruptly ended my scene after my final scene just wanting it to be over with lol so thanks for this tip.
Since you mentioned not 'pretending' to do things on camera I thought I'd share the time I had to do a spit-take while self taping. I found it much harder than originally thought since I had to 1. Avoid hitting the camera with the mouthful of water I'd sipped. 2. Not choke on said mouthful of water 3. Not *laugh* while performing points 1. and 2. And lastly 4. Properly clean up the area after I was done.
Didn't get the gig but did learn how to do a spit-take.
Not sure if I should list that on the 'skills' section of my resume though 😉
today I went for my 3rd audition, printed photo and resume - my confidence skyrocketed from it by itself. The look on the casting crew faces 😮 2 auditions I was so nervous, today - owned it. It keeps getting better 😍
There's no such thing as a "casting crew". It's called a "casting director".
You are honestly so inspirational. Whenever I feel like quitting and focusing on a boring 9-5 career, I watch your vids because you speak so kindly and offer such good information for us beginner actors. I cannot imagine myself feeling fulfilled not being on stage or in front of the camera. It’s always so exciting becoming someone else to play a character. You saying be patient is exactly what I need to remind myself of. All good things take time, and that pic was literally so perfect for my visual mind. Why make things harder for myself? Thanks for all the quality vids. Can’t wait to see you on set someday!
Amazing content from the best acting/film channel on this platform. Feels like at this point he’s my personal teacher. Can’t get enough videos, hope to see you on set one day Kurt!
I really appreciate how simple to execute these are. It makes it much more helpful. Thank you!
I started BG here in Atlanta back in 2020 and began acting classes back in August. I just booked my first role on a feature film. It's low budget but I don't care. It's experience and I'm excited!
Congrats!
soo how did it go??
This video is SO helpful, thank you Kurt! Looking forward to watching the video you mentioned on getting acting experience. I have a lot of stage experience and enough voiceover gigs to be SAG-AFTRA, but definitely need some more screen time as I prepare to dive back into the LA scene full-time. Hope to see you on set one day too ☺
Your acting advice is always super useful! Started watching your videos last year, and thanks to you I'm already taking acting classes and feeling rlly happy about it, so thank you for everything really!
I appreciate the last two points where you mentioned trying to advance quickly, and agents. I just graduated from college this past weekend and I’ll be taking your advice!
TYSM, Kurt! You’re so helpful no matter what level you are in your career. I appreciate your passing the knowledge. You are an amazing actor.
I've been doing tiny steps since I started, and sometimes is hard to keep the rithm, but you have to stay focused in those small objectives to achieve the bigger goals.
I have sixteen and it's difficult to imagine acting as a profession but I still believe in myself an so I try every day.
Thank you, Kurt, for your advice! It's both educational and inspirational!
I recently got started in acting of sorts because of a new job, and learning about the industry has been so fascinating yet so overwhelming. I stumbled across this video and I'm SO glad I did. Your advice grounded me and reassured me to just have fun and see where you can go. Thank you for this!
Great video! Also, huge congratulations on all of your achievements!
Thanks Kurt. I’ll correct on my self tapes. You’re a great instructor of knowledge!
Kurt is so helpful for actors! Thank you for being awesome Kurt! Talent learn so much from you!
Hi Kurt, I just turned 60 and have been in 3 movies each subsequent movie I have had bigger and better roles. I did not know about step 3, although it made sense to me to do that step. Thank you pointing out the 2 business tips. I appreciate all your videos
Kurt, You are amazing! I’m so glad that I started following you. Your RUclips videos on acting helps us tremendously. When I think of a question, and do the research your content pops up. Please continue keeping the acting community prepared, focused and ready. 🎬🙌🏾
Such a good video! I'm really interested in pursuing acting for film and television when I get older, and these tips are really helpful! The mention about acting in the moments before and after a scene were super insightful! 👍👍
Thank you Kurt, I genuinely do hope to see you on set one day!
Thank you!!! Not exactly “new” but appreciate your insight and direction
Thank you so much. I was asked by a director to read for 2 parts post" tell me about yourself "interview . I didn't land the parts, but now I realize why, thanks to your video.
You are so wonderful for sharing this information with us and I appreciate you!
You are awesome! So glad I came across your channel!☺️
These are some great tips! Thank You!
Good tips! I like the one about making sure you have a moment before and after your audition and not just to start and finish abruptly.
Giving yourself an activity can help with this (kind of like an "independent activity" in an acting class). In it's simplest form it's just something to help get you focused before you begin the actual scene but it also helps with the expression within the scene. Even something as simple as putting on a tie or cleaning a table can add life to a scene because if your character is angry that's going to come out in *how* you clean the table. A perfect example: the scene from Raider of the Lost Ark where Indiana Jones first arrives at the bar in Napal and technically you could say that he has a "door' and she has an "activity". He has a problem; she's the only solution to his problem but she's doing something - watch HOW she does what she's doing when she says the line "Well say it again anyway!!!!".
Thank you! i love your videos and they are so helpful!
SO HELPFUL!!! THANK YOU
Hey Kurt I am loving your videos to the point where I am dying to go to acting classes hoping it’s not to expensive and gets me to my goal slowly but surely
thanks Kurt, your videos have been so helpful!
I really appreciated your discussion about not taking things too fast. True story here. My friend encouraged me to audition for a one act festival and I got a part!! *Buuut*, there really are some differences between acting on stage vs screen, lol. I thought I was going to run off stage screaming because I felt my first rehearsal was so bad, LOL!! I felt pretty discombobulated! However, the thought dawned on me that perhaps I should be making use of the training I’ve been getting from classes and your videos? :-p Anyhow, I am really enjoying this experience and have learned a lot about *patience*! Thank you as always for your videos and invaluable advice!
Kurt I always feel like you are speaking directly to me in these videos 😂 great advice like always. "it's a marathon, not a sprint" 🙌🏾
Thank you. I'm working on my 17th show. Your advise is spot on with what other credible actors have told me. I Just turned down an offer for a 3 year talent agreement with an agent. It's the best thing I've done for my career.
Thanks for the advice Kurt
Thanks for this. Thanks for helping. I'm going to take this in and apply it
Thank you so much Kurt for this teaching.
Your videos are awesome man. Thanks for helping beginner actors like me.
Your first 3 tips really helped! Thank you!

I do my own short films and been studying my so called acting and some the scenes are believable but others are not. The tip you said about when your lines end you should continue on performing, is going to help me in the future. thank you for these free tips.
Thank you Kurt!
Never have I clicked so fast 🤣
🤣🤣🤣

Thank u soo much bc i am gonna have Audition for a series
i waited so long for you to post sir everyday i would check your channel
i loved tip #3 👍
Thank you! This helps to navigate the journey to becoming an actor. Small steps are just as important as the big ones.
The small steps are more important than the big ones because if your first step is in the wrong direction then you're already starting out on the wrong path and you'll never reach your intended destination. Slow is smooth and smooth is fast.
Thank you
Thanks mentor Yue
Any new videos coming up anytime soon? I appreciate all the valuable information you've shared so far about the filming industry.
Really appreciated advice
I always watch your videos first 😄😄
