One thing about relocation costs: it's not just saving around 5K-10K to go to a larger market for this career. Acting is a proprietary business . It's an investment like any other business which eventually pays off . Actors need to learn Entrepreneurial skills of sales , indirect networking , mass seduction ,art of closing deals , diplomacy etc . All comes in the showbiz business. I like the way you speak ,very articulate and very clear the way you pronunciate of every word. Have successful other businesses too actors ,so you can invest in an acting career. I think more than 10k is required.
Reel and headshot photos can be done for free if you network and form friendships. Key thing is to build that foundation with photographers, filmmakers and etc. Costs of classes and casting website fees can’t be avoided, however, you can start out with gigs on Facebook before paying for casting websites to gain that experience. Just be safe

Very passionate about character and turning into character, any character, not only native American characters.

I dont have any good acting classes within an hour of where I live :( What should i do? I've been looking at online classes and thinking of taking one.
Yes, if you don't have any classes in your area, definitely look for online classes. One of the silver linings of this pandemic is that many of the great acting schools are now offering online classes. There is still no substitute for in-person learning though so whenever you do have the opportunity to go to a live class, take advantage of it.
Hey! Theres alot of zoom classes that you can take. i just started taking audition classes on zoom and i have lagit ZERO acting experience. I really would love to become an actor, but it’s hard for me to see it becoming a reality. My family is really poor and can barely afford dinner, so we kinda have to spend money as we get it. Saving up is not easy for me.
Go in the military and get the money to go to acting school. Get away from your family so you can take care of yourself, and then you can help them. Go into the Air Force, learn a trade, and go to acting school if you can at night if possible.
Hey, Kurt I am 12 years old from Sweden. And I got absolutley stunned by Harry Potter. I know I wanna be an actor when I grow do you think it’s a good idea to start with theatre classes mate?

How to get to acting, step one: sell your soul step two: be born into a rich family, if you are already born then no worries simply go back in time and pick the right family that fits your financial standards :). Step 3: have a friend or family member make it to the top so that they can Adam Sandler you to the top, meaning they can open doors for you metaphorically, the doors to success.
Man no wander some actors go into debt so much money but would love to this tho just gotta firgure out away to start getting into classes and keep my family happy
Dude your very very talented with all of this you help me so much I haven’t started anything yet but my goals are to build up my profile and get into big movies with big directors thankyou so much
What can you do if your family doesn’t have a lot of money and can barely pay enough for school (I’m in a private school can’t go to public because of trauma) what can I do?
There are some ways to get around the costs or lower the costs. You could barter for classes. That happens all the time. People work as the teacher's assistant in exchange for free or discounted classes. You might be able to do the same with headshots or you could go to a student photographer who wouldn't charge as much. In the future, when you are old enough to get a job, you would do that to save up money to pay for those things on your own instead of relying on your parents.
Living in a small country like new zealand. Finding good casting websites and even acting classes is tough. The idea of having to leave the country for my carrer one day is a dauntng thought. Not giving up though
We did have drama in my school, but the teacher wasn't nice and she just always seemed sour like this wasn't the job she envisioned so HS never really helped me. Would just some acting classes be super beneficial to me?
Hard truths indeed. You have to recognize that in the world of Show Business that Business is the bigger of the two words. One of first things to learn is to "act professionally" in your business life. There are a lot of talented people who couldn't/didn't make it, not for lack of talent but for lack of business savvy. Most people can't afford to be an average actor (Look up the stats of how much an average actor makes yearly). To make a living as a "working actor" you have to be above average, working your way to being great and then finally sought after. that's how a career works. Also remember this simple mantra. Chaos happens when your outgo is more than your income. Stay business minded!
Wait, you’re from Cleveland? I’m from Cleveland! I’m watching this at home right now wondering if I should move to LA 😅 Maybe I should move to Atlanta??
What are some good coffee stops in LA? I have ideas to share as a senior and am looking for positive opportunity while delivering groceries?? Maybe where the STAR stop for coffee? Also are there places I might visit for local auditions? Thanks!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉❤❤❤
I think it is a great thing to do to build your network and to learn about the industry. If you intern at a casting office, make it your goal to learn, not to try to get them to cast you in something.
I'm a nursing student, should I continue to pursue nursing as a fall back career and then do acting on the side? Or pursue acting full time? My only concerns are financial stability. I dont come from a family of money. All I want to do is to be involved with story telling and I dont see myself doing anything else. I cant live without acting/film/storytelling/music
This is something that 90% of actors struggle with. Acting income is extremely unstable and unreliable. That's why every actor should have at least one other source of income to help with finances. It's almost impossible to pursue an acting career without a secondary source of income. Finding a job that has the flexibility to allow you to continue to pursue acting is the key.
Hello sir. Your videos are really informative for aspiring actors. I want to ask that I am from India and want to pursue my acting career in Hollywood, so can you please make a video on how international actors step into Hollywood with all the information like criteria , eligibility etc. That will be a great help 😊
I will try to put a video together on that. To be honest, it is very difficult for actors that live outside of the United States to audition for American movies and shows because there are two major roadblocks. 1. It's actually illegal for someone to work in the US unless they are a US citizen, permanent resident, or have a proper work visa. For actors, that would be the O1 visa. I'm not an expert on immigration so I can't provide any guidance on obtaining an O1 visa so you'll have to do your own research on that. 2. It is so much easier are cheaper for a production to hire a local actor as opposed to someone who lives far away. People that live in the US even face this problem. It is much harder for an actor who lives 500 miles away from Los Angeles to get auditions than the person who actually lives in Los Angeles. So if it's difficult for the person that lives 500 miles away, it's exponentially more difficult for the person that lives overseas.
Hello Kurt! Thank you for touching this topic, I actually have a similar question. I live in Canada, and I know that many famous actors are Canadians. Do you think it’s a good way to start acting career from here? And maybe start from Canadian movies and with time move onto the American? Can I audition for American movies that are being shot in Canada? And another question - I am Ukrainian and even though my English is good, I still have a slight accent. Do you think I have a chance in an English speaking movies? Thank you 🙏🏻
I talk to my mom that I want to pursue a acting career, I’m 16 years old and I’m a junior in high school btw, I was thinking to talk to my case manager and counselor at school about my acting career so they can put me as many acting classes I can get into, after high school if I have up to 8k I’m going to LA to pursue my acting career. I really want to become an actor it was my dream since I was born. And I have a question how many years do you need to take the classes and the other things in order to contact an agent and hopefully see if he got you in a studio?
It's different for everyone. Some people may be ready for an agent after a few months, others may take a year or two longer. Your teacher should be able to guide you and let you know when you are ready. For me, I got an agent after about a year of taking classes (but I didn't stop taking classes after that)
Ooh yet another good vid! Curiously would you say that doing a uni course gives you a notable edge or could you gain similar skills with other acting courses and classes
That is highly subjective. I've never taken uni acting courses and I know plenty of other successful actors who never did either. There are also plenty of examples of successful actors who did get a degree in acting. I think it will ultimately be up to you and what you are most comfortable with.

I like the way you speak ,very articulate and very clear the way you pronunciate of every word.
Have successful other businesses too actors ,so you can invest in an acting career. I think more than 10k is required.
exactly
Reel and headshot photos can be done for free if you network and form friendships. Key thing is to build that foundation with photographers, filmmakers and etc. Costs of classes and casting website fees can’t be avoided, however, you can start out with gigs on Facebook before paying for casting websites to gain that experience. Just be safe
For your information on backstage there are TONS of listings of shooting film in Atlanta... For $100 a day!!!! Or preferably for free.
You’re the best coming through with these amazing videos 🙌🏼 thanks for all the information it’s very helpful!
Glad it was helpful! Thanks again for watching!
Good morning, I'm answering your question, first question about why, why? Is not only that I want to carry my uncle Russell Means acting career, also I'm hoping to get my own story out there,I like true stories, also I have a spontaneous sense of humor, it's in my blood to be an actress! Very passionate about character and turning into character, any character, not only native American characters.
I'd do everything to become an actor. Even though my parents aren't rich, I hope that I can become an actor. It would be sad if I can't be one because of our money... :(
ik its an old post but here's some inspiration:
sometimes you just have to do the 'impossible'
Hey man, I've been going through some things and I believe God has been trying to tell me this is my journey...and guess what I have no money saved, my family doesn't think I'm capable of anything besides a dead end job, if I don't go to college I'm wasting time dreaming of becoming an actor, my families have no money, so trust me when I say that people like us are more than capable! Just have to grind and persevere through all hurdles thrown our way and stabilize your support circle with genuine positive people.
Thanks for your honest and sincere advice.
Wow, this is VERY informative. Thank you, sir!
It’s confusing when you live in the UK.

me too!
I mean like I want to be an actor on corrie, but I'm in school and when I go back they shud give me forms for options and blah blah blah, dunno what I need to do from their. 🤔🤔🤔🤔🤔😕😳😔😔😔😔😔
I am from India and moving to NY to pursue my acting career in Hollywood. I am a writer as well as an actor always want to work in Hollywood and now I am so near but again a long journey.
My youtube friends, you cab advice me if you have any.
Wish you all the best for your career.
Wait so if I was in drama club in middle school and if I take theater class in high school could i put that on my resume for an audition?
Yes, you can put that on your resume
@@ActingCareerCenter is this a myth or not
The more thing Ona acting resume the better for u ??
@@Emir_helvacioglu It’s like three months late, but it really depends on what things you’re putting down on there, in this scenario quality and quantity are both major factors on things you have to put on your résumé. Let’s say you have a bunch of crappy things on your résumé, obviously he wouldn’t get it but if you have only one good thing on your résumé you’re most likely not going to get it either so you kind of have to even it out
omg this is so crazy im orginally from cleveland ohio as well but i moved to orlando florida, im 16 and i actually go to school of the arts were im a vocal and drama major. I want to be an actor so bad ive just been watching so many of your videos, there amazing. Im going to keep watching to keep informing myself. I would love to speak one on one with you someday.
I turned 15 last month.. I live in a small town in ohio.. it’s really a ghost town so there’s really no acting classes in this town so I’m glad you mentioned drama clubs and school. Next semester I’m taking preforming arts along with the next 3 years!
I’m a martial artist that trained MMA because I want to compete, at the same time I’m also paying for acting school because I want to be in a martial art action movie…
everyday I wake up at 5 to work full time 6am-3pm
Then I handle my business after work…
Then repeat…
Can’t wait to se where this journey take me
Don't give up brother I'm also on the same path.
I’m going to do anything to succeed. Currently paying for IMDbpro. Going to audition for 3 marvel movies. I’m also planning to audition for some upcoming movies. What do you think Kurt?
Audition for everything that you can!
My teacher is the Casting director for paramount pictures and she casted the xmen moveis. guess what? she only charges 300 bucks for 1 month. be brave u can do it PS: im only 16
@@boiyuta573 omg can you send me a link or her website i would highly appreciate if you can i would really love to join her class !!!
@@boiyuta573 yeah, can you please send her website if it doesn't bother you, since I've been looking for classes but couldn't find one. Thanks in advance!
Thank you for the video, I learned so much information.
You mentioned that it usually costs about 100+ dollars for acting classes per month. Was curious about how many classes on average are usually given per month? Very helpful info. Thanks!
if only I could afford it I love acting so much and I can't do lots of the things because I live in a place where there are hardly any acting classes and also its just extremely expensive
Same
Hey, I'm in the exact same position, have you gotten around that since it's been a year and if you have would you mind sharing with me?
what a remarkable closing statement. Thank you
I really would love to become an actor, but it’s hard for me to see it becoming a reality.
:( COVID 19 so I can’t take drama in school

That’s true, I got my shot though so next year we can only hope to get free drama classes.

Hey, Kurt I am 12 years old from Sweden. And I got absolutley stunned by Harry Potter. I know I wanna be an actor when I grow do you think it’s a good idea to start with theatre classes mate?
Thank you very much for all the advice. I really look forward to watching your videos!!
Thanks for the advices👌🏾!!
Awesome awesome great video, I am definitely interested in doing some acting auditions and I am so glad I saw this video this is going to be very helpful. I am a teacher by profession, so my plan is to get situated and then start preparing for auditions. This is is a great start. Thanks I will keep checking in on this channel.
You're The Absolute BEST Kurt
When i have nothing to do i just hide inside the closet and i start practicing acting😊
😂
A mirror is better for sure.
@@sealoftheprophits yup i do in mirror sometimes 1 minute ago i was practicing
My goal is to make it so big I get to be in marvel
How to get to acting,
step one: sell your soul
step two: be born into a rich family, if you are already born then no worries simply go back in time and pick the right family that fits your financial standards :).
Step 3: have a friend or family member make it to the top so that they can Adam Sandler you to the top, meaning they can open doors for you metaphorically, the doors to success.
lmfao
my highest goal is to end up in a movie with jennifer lawrence. I know its a big goal that'll be difficult to achieve but i will try at least
I graduated with my B.A in theatre performance because I want to do stage and film.

Having been a professional photographer… this all sounds super affordable honestly haha! And I’ve already done the freelance life of sacrifices, so…
When you first start out acting, can you put school acting classes on your resume?
yes
This year I joined in drama club in my school and I'm exited
School acting sucks ngl

500th comment! Love your page! So helpful! Thank you!
Hey Kurt .... Saw you on Original Joe as Dr Cho! What a surprise and great job you did!
Thanks Kurt , really love your videos and encouragement. I am from Fiji
Acting is my Dream . Which will be real
Thanks to you
Love this such good and very important stuff most actors don't think about. So worth it all in the long run. ❤️🌹
Definitely worth it!
I think I have a little advantage. I live in Nj so I can catch a train to NYC
Yes that is absolutely an advantage!
I LIVE IN NEW JERSEY TOO!!
I can't believe you are from Cleveland! I live 30 minutes west of Cleveland.
Do you think there is opportunity to find television acting roles in Chicago?
Chicago PD, Chicago MED, Chicago Fire - all shows that film in Chicago
What's your opinion on interning at production companies or casting offices to try and get your acting career started that way?
I think it is a great thing to do to build your network and to learn about the industry. If you intern at a casting office, make it your goal to learn, not to try to get them to cast you in something.
what are your thoughts on John Cassablancas on helping to get your acting career started??
I’d like to give a shot to become an actress:)
Thanks Kurt, new subscriber here. Super helpful video, keep em coming! Also greeting from Australia!
Glad to have people watching from down under! Thanks for subscribing!
@@ActingCareerCenter Even to give auditions for Hollywood do we international actors need US citizenship or work permit? Can you please help.
@@haleysunshine1409 Yes, my understanding is that you would need a work visa, otherwise they would not be able to hire you.
Thank you 🙏🏻
I just thought that maybe I would be good at acting. I have no idea even where to begin as far as classes. I am curious as how I would do
Thanks you so much for the valuable information
Thank you for the information.
Idk I luv the way you explain everything you can be my teacher😅
Acting Career Center sorry for the late reply (did not see the message lol)
