These videos are extremely helpful! The delay tempo explanation and vocal cancel explanation is informative. Still getting use to it but I didn't realize how tight i can tweak this machine. Again i love this machine had it for many months skimmed over the directions, but only now getting back to using it and I'm still excited that i picked one up. Its so fun and a confidence builder, if you enjoy engineering or singing for yourself without computer software its perfect 👍🏽
I was the same way, bought it after reviewing and researching, kind of blew off the tutorials until i used it again and there is so much more that can be done sound quality wise you can get great sounding live vocals.
This thing is amazing. The tutorials are very helpful. Really ya just gotta spend some time with it. I’ve had it for 4 months and am just now starting to get into the customization. Which is fairly limitless. Terrific engineering.
ok, this is an amazing product that can make anyone sound like they are singing, give the person that uses it a belief that they are a musician and can sing, anyone who uses this needs an instruction video like this to learn how to use this effect pedal because they have not got a clue musically what the pedal and themselves are doing, more to the point , how did vocal musicians sing in tune, on tempo, pitch-perfect, harmonising from the soul, notes of the natural harmonics, and understanding what they are doing musically and knowing what the other musicians accompanying them are doing and playing . Before this cheating device became available? its like going to the best restaurant buying a gorgeous perfectly prepared and cooked meal created by a Michelin grade chef, then taking it somewhere and serving it to people and letting people think you understand foods, have the skills to perfectly blend the best ones together, with lots of experience so you use just the right quantities, studied for years how to create brilliance from your experience and skills, and spent thousands of hours practicing how long and hot feeds the soul What would you think about someone that made out they cooked and had the knowledge to create such food? it is an amazing tool for a musician to use creatively, not a device to cheat with and make out to yourself or others you have any vocal skills or musicianship. I am not a musical snob or being horrible because I'm a musician that has been studying, practising and learning music and my instrument for nearly 50 years and always will be, at a great expense financially, in time, life , without being anywhere near one percent of any of those in return, like most musicians we do more than most people or professions in charity gigs and no other trade or profession has to practice, study and spend continually to keep it up. The idea of it is making it be part of yourself like another limb, natural, smooth a feeling not so much thinking, it just happens creation, then when it is people think its easy and expect you to play for nothing, charities, but would you ask a doctor, lawyer, builder or plumber to work for free? and i have studied long enough to have become all of those 4 three times over? so remember if this effects unit brakes down or your power goes can you still perform?

NO: I am taking advantage of the technology that is available, at the present time...If there is a device, like this one ( I own one by the way ), that could make my vocals better, all the more power to me to access it. It's actually the camera. It's really tough to get the screen visible and also use a shutter speed that doesn't react with the refresh rate of the LCD screen.
Note: When a Switch3 is plugged in, Key/Scale selection is automatically assigned to UP/DN. When the Switch3 is unplugged, UP/DN remains Key/Scale and will need to be changed in the setup menu if you wish to assign UP/DN back to Looping.
Hi Hannah, you must have replies turned off for your account, so I can't reply directly to your question. To have Looping come up when you press the UP and DOWN footswitches at the same time, you need to go into the SETUP menu, then go over to the System (5/6) page using the arrow buttons. There, you change UP/DN FUNCTION from Key/Scale to Looping. Press SETUP again to exit.
And found it: hit "Setup" tap softbutten right and get to screen 5/6 > hit Setup (choice 2, left column) change looping/Set key. Set Key apparently enables you to set a global key for all tracks which then can be turned of or on.
when you build on a loop, is there anyway to delete just the last loop added, for example, if you have a good beat, and a good bass, and then make a mistake on top, can you just delete the last loop added, or do you always have to start from scratch if you make a mistake?

***** You're likely getting some bleed from the mic. There's a few options to help alleviate it. Sometimes I can scroll through all the presets by holding down the up/down keys. Back and forth. But sometimes it doesn't work. I haven't figured out why yet. Does anyone know? I have two devices with eight years of different construction times. But both behave the same. Sometimes scrolling works, sometimes it doesn't. Then at some point it suddenly works again.
I would like to have four or five presets available at the touch of a button, and not scroll through. This video series is really informative. I figged out some of the stuff, but now I am going to try some other things with it. Sounds great, live, btw.

I've been looking all over to find a video that would allow you to use your Play Acoustic as iPad recording device. I can't find one video on this. I have found a video using a laptop for PC, but isn't there a way to use the Play Acoustic as a direct interface to your iPad, for a live steaming event??? say, Facebook Live? New to TC Helicon and pedals for period. I'm a saxophonist and looking to beef up our band with horns since I am the only horn. Hi! Does this have a tone button or tone effect like the Perform V and other TC-Helicon products so that my voice can be compressed and EQ'd? The effects offered in this unit interest me but I am also looking at the TC Helicon Perform V. I like the idea of the perform V because it has a tone button which seems give you a nice crisp studio sound and a separate talk button (I rap so I want to easily be able to perform with no effects from time to time). Also outside of a bit of auto tune, all I really need is reverb and delay or double, another reason why the perform V interests me since I think I will have all my bases covered there. I am a hip-hop artist doing many lives shows and the biggest point of feedback that I have received is that my vocals sound dry. I don't have the luxury of having an engineer setting up my sound so I want to come to my shows with this already figured out which is why I am interested in this product.
there is a slight flickering on the voicelive play display and it is quite annoying. is it a defect of this machine in particular or do all the voicelive play flicker like this?
Searching for the de-essing menu. Did I miss something? (It is advertised to have one) How do I store the Lead Mute on/off to a preset? I cannot get it to save it to one. We need this for only one song, but live is no time to set this in the systems menu. Thx
1. If the SETUP / TONE STYLE parameter is set to a value other than OFF, a de-esser is applied to the vocal. 2. LEAD MUTE is a global parameter, it cannot be stored in a preset. Workaround: Step 2.1: Set SETUP / OUTPUT to MONO. Step 2.2: set SETUP / LEAD MUTE to ON. This way, the XLR RIGHT output will be the lead vocal and the XLR LEFT output will be all others. Step 2.3: connect the XLR RIGHT output to the first channel of the mixer. Step 2.4: Connect the XLR LEFT output to the second channel of the mixer. Step 2.4: if you want to mute the LEAD, pull down the first channel of the mixer or interrupt the signal going to it with a microphone switch.
You may need to adjust the volume of the patch you are using. I've had a good play with mine now and think I've got to grips with it. The presets are ok, but it's pretty easy to set up your own. Good luck
i need to know about the auto key ...i need a pedal to detect the key of my band without conection or guitar and without to put all the time the manual key function .cause i sing 15 song in a show and i dont want to change all the time the manual keys ..please help thanks
You can use the RoomSense mics to try and determine key and scale. It will depend on where you're unit is located relative to the band and how well it can "hear" chords being played. I'd try setting it up that way (Auto in the Harmony edit screen and RoomSense set to Auto in the Setup menu) and see how it works. If there are specific songs where it fails, then you could make a preset for just those songs.
I have an important question!!! TO TC HELICON Using voice live gtx, while paying guitar AND following an MP3 track AND all that singing is in a sing-a-long, where the audience and I sing together. Would you recommend setting for " live" or tracks?
I am bringing an Aux in signal from a keyboard. If I Hardwire a key for a particular song, perhaps to sing an intro in the right key with no accompaniment, will that take effect OR since something is plugged into the Aux in, will that built in key be ignored ?
***** Hi Rick, any key you've stored within the preset is used regardless of audio input. "Auto" is the only setting that "listens" for external chord info.

Hey Craig! Great videos - thanks! One question: I just got a Play GTX and I want to send a mono wet signal to the front of house mains and the same mono wet signal to my in-ear monitor mixer. Do I need to A. Get an XLR splitter and split the signal coming out of the left channel? OR B. Can I use the stereo setting and send Left to the mains and the Right to my in-ear mixer? In the stereo setting is it the exact same signal going left and right?
Thank you.. very informative! I listened to all 3 video manuals but I didn't hear anything about quantizing.. I believe that the Boss RC-30 quantizes. That pedal can also "auto record" (won't start recording until you begin playing) and auto quantizes while a rhythm track is playing. Of course the RC-30 is a dedicated looper. Can the VLPlay do any of this? I'm a singing percussionist. I like all the effects but controlling them while playing might be a challenge and the quantize features impt.
Not a silly question at all! Yes, you definitely can. If you have a monitor mix that you want to add to the vocals from Play, you could connect it to the Aux input. Then, use the "Aux to Main Out" parameter to turn the Aux OFF in the main out. That way, the sound tech/mixer gets just your vocals, but you can get you+band in the headphone out. Also, in the setup menu, make sure if you use the Aux in for monitoring that you set Aux Type to Live, otherwise there will be a delay in the signal.
Can you 😮se the shortage on parts… to update this to SILENT buttons - the metal click is no good. It’s why I went boss but need to go to an updated version of this. Please - silent pedals - but also add more features. Less menu digging more buttons and updated full color larger monitor screen for our tired old eyes
Is there a setting that will transpose my voice into an octave lower - without doubling my voice? In other words, if I sing something HIGH, I want to hear ONLY the octave lower coming out of the PA, not my high voice. Is that possible?
I guess you can turn "Lead mute" on in the settings and use the doubling effect for the lower octave. By turning on the lead mute setting you should only be able to hear the lower octave "doubling" without your actual lead voice.
Hey TC-Helicon team, I just bought the GTX, I'm trying to loop, but when I press the up and down buttons as said in the manual, the screen shows "Key, scale, cancel" and not "record" . The video doesn't show how to get to the screen ... Thanks for your help

Hey.... is there ANY looping going on in this unit at all? I think that some minor looping would be normally expected from a vocal processor.... I know you have another product that does just looping, but I was wondering if it can happen here at all....just so that you hit competition ;)
BIONIC BEATS No. The USB audio output is "what you hear is what you get". You can do post production via the Play though. Record your dry vocal into the DAW, then send that dry vocal out to the Play's input. You can turn LEAD MUTE on/off in the setup menu depending on whether you want the returned sound to include the dry vocal or not. Record the results to new tracks in the DAW and mix with the original dry track.
This is very informative! thanks! One question though, does anyone know if it's possible to restart the recorded loop after it's stopped? For example: I record something at the beginning of a song. Then play it for a while, then stop it and play it back at the end?

***** Yep sure can. Just make sure to turn Lead Mute on in the setup menu, so that the dry vocal doesn't end up on mixed into the wet channel. Also, use Mono output mode. Keep in mind that any time you use doubling or HardTune, you'll hear the lead in both signal paths because the lead voice is required to make the effect happen. In the case of double, you'll want to use both tracks but for HardTune, I'd mute the dry vocal to make sure you hear the full effect.

In the setup menu, there's a control to select your Mic Type. If you set it to Condenser, it'll activate +48V phantom power and your condenser should work.
Филипп Черненко In stereo you get 15 secs, 30 with undo off. In mono you get 30 secs, 60 with undo off. You can record as many overdubs as you want to on the original loop. Undo works on the most recently recorded overdub.
HELP! I've just bought the voicelive play, we have a rock band, and I'm having some problems in our rehersal. We rehearse in a small room acoustically isolated and I connect the voicelive in just one amplifier, I don't know why it makes a lot of noise whistles really loud) when I turn the volume and the gain up and if I turn them down, we can't hear the effects and my voice is low and strange, it's even hard to hear the reverb. I don't know if I made the presets wrong or set up. HELP!.
i have this same issue and idk how to combat it, if mic gain is too low the fx wont trigger. But if its too high, then FOH Sound gets a lot of feedback, how do i fix this

Thanks, turned out I had to do a firmware update to get it sorted. I think the newer firmware has the looping as default. All is good now. Cheers

My roomsense is stuck on unplug aux, and it then feeds back....anyone have a clue? And there is nothing plugged into the aux.
The GTX was designed to have all of the instrumental I/O, at a higher price. We figure it allows instrumentalists and pure vocalists a choice. :)

Hi I just got my Voice Live play hooking up to my Yamaha Mixer....love it, but why when my friends sing karaoke the harmony are all over the places....I try to turn the harmony all the way to off, but i can still hear it....can u tell me how to bring it down or shut it down completely please thanks.....
***** You're likely getting some bleed from the mic. There's a few options to help alleviate it. Sometimes I can scroll through all the presets by holding down the up/down keys. Back and forth. But sometimes it doesn't work. I haven't figured out why yet. Does anyone know? I have two devices with eight years of different construction times. But both behave the same. Sometimes scrolling works, sometimes it doesn't. Then at some point it suddenly works again.

I have found a video using a laptop for PC, but isn't there a way to use the Play Acoustic as a direct interface to your iPad, for a live steaming event??? say, Facebook Live? New to TC Helicon and pedals for period. I'm a saxophonist and looking to beef up our band with horns since I am the only horn. Hi! Does this have a tone button or tone effect like the Perform V and other TC-Helicon products so that my voice can be compressed and EQ'd? The effects offered in this unit interest me but I am also looking at the TC Helicon Perform V. I like the idea of the perform V because it has a tone button which seems give you a nice crisp studio sound and a separate talk button (I rap so I want to easily be able to perform with no effects from time to time). Also outside of a bit of auto tune, all I really need is reverb and delay or double, another reason why the perform V interests me since I think I will have all my bases covered there.
I am a hip-hop artist doing many lives shows and the biggest point of feedback that I have received is that my vocals sound dry. I don't have the luxury of having an engineer setting up my sound so I want to come to my shows with this already figured out which is why I am interested in this product.
there is a slight flickering on the voicelive play display and it is quite annoying. is it a defect of this machine in particular or do all the voicelive play flicker like this?

How do I store the Lead Mute on/off to a preset? I cannot get it to save it to one. We need this for only one song, but live is no time to set this in the systems menu.

1. If the SETUP / TONE STYLE parameter is set to a value other than OFF, a de-esser is applied to the vocal.
2. LEAD MUTE is a global parameter, it cannot be stored in a preset. Workaround:
Step 2.1: Set SETUP / OUTPUT to MONO.
Step 2.2: set SETUP / LEAD MUTE to ON.
This way, the XLR RIGHT output will be the lead vocal and the XLR LEFT output will be all others.
Step 2.3: connect the XLR RIGHT output to the first channel of the mixer.
Step 2.4: Connect the XLR LEFT output to the second channel of the mixer.
Step 2.4: if you want to mute the LEAD, pull down the first channel of the mixer or interrupt the signal going to it with a microphone switch.

You may need to adjust the volume of the patch you are using. I've had a good play with mine now and think I've got to grips with it. The presets are ok, but it's pretty easy to set up your own. Good luck

You can use the RoomSense mics to try and determine key and scale. It will depend on where you're unit is located relative to the band and how well it can "hear" chords being played. I'd try setting it up that way (Auto in the Harmony edit screen and RoomSense set to Auto in the Setup menu) and see how it works. If there are specific songs where it fails, then you could make a preset for just those songs.

Using voice live gtx, while paying guitar AND following an MP3 track AND all that singing is in a sing-a-long, where the audience and I sing together.

How do you isolate vocals on the looper? Like if u want the chorus to come at a certain time how do i do that ?
I am bringing an Aux in signal from a keyboard. If I Hardwire a key for a particular song, perhaps to sing an intro in the right key with no accompaniment, will that take effect OR since something is plugged into the Aux in, will that built in key be ignored ?
***** Hi Rick, any key you've stored within the preset is used regardless of audio input. "Auto" is the only setting that "listens" for external chord info.

Hey Craig! Great videos - thanks! One question: I just got a Play GTX and I want to send a mono wet signal to the front of house mains and the same mono wet signal to my in-ear monitor mixer. Do I need to A. Get an XLR splitter and split the signal coming out of the left channel? OR B. Can I use the stereo setting and send Left to the mains and the Right to my in-ear mixer? In the stereo setting is it the exact same signal going left and right?

Thank you.. very informative! I listened to all 3 video manuals but I didn't hear anything about quantizing.. I believe that the Boss RC-30 quantizes. That pedal can also "auto record" (won't start recording until you begin playing) and auto quantizes while a rhythm track is playing. Of course the RC-30 is a dedicated looper. Can the VLPlay do any of this? I'm a singing percussionist. I like all the effects but controlling them while playing might be a challenge and the quantize features impt.

Not a silly question at all! Yes, you definitely can. If you have a monitor mix that you want to add to the vocals from Play, you could connect it to the Aux input. Then, use the "Aux to Main Out" parameter to turn the Aux OFF in the main out. That way, the sound tech/mixer gets just your vocals, but you can get you+band in the headphone out. Also, in the setup menu, make sure if you use the Aux in for monitoring that you set Aux Type to Live, otherwise there will be a delay in the signal.
Can you 😮se the shortage on parts… to update this to SILENT buttons - the metal click is no good. It’s why I went boss but need to go to an updated version of this. Please - silent pedals - but also add more features. Less menu digging more buttons and updated full color larger monitor screen for our tired old eyes
Is there a setting that will transpose my voice into an octave lower - without doubling my voice? In other words, if I sing something HIGH, I want to hear ONLY the octave lower coming out of the PA, not my high voice. Is that possible?
Hey Sassypatty! Did you try the Octaver preset?
I guess you can turn "Lead mute" on in the settings and use the doubling effect for the lower octave. By turning on the lead mute setting you should only be able to hear the lower octave "doubling" without your actual lead voice.

Hey.... is there ANY looping going on in this unit at all? I think that some minor looping would be normally expected from a vocal processor.... I know you have another product that does just looping, but I was wondering if it can happen here at all....just so that you hit competition ;)

BIONIC BEATS No. The USB audio output is "what you hear is what you get". You can do post production via the Play though. Record your dry vocal into the DAW, then send that dry vocal out to the Play's input. You can turn LEAD MUTE on/off in the setup menu depending on whether you want the returned sound to include the dry vocal or not. Record the results to new tracks in the DAW and mix with the original dry track.

***** Yep sure can. Just make sure to turn Lead Mute on in the setup menu, so that the dry vocal doesn't end up on mixed into the wet channel. Also, use Mono output mode. Keep in mind that any time you use doubling or HardTune, you'll hear the lead in both signal paths because the lead voice is required to make the effect happen. In the case of double, you'll want to use both tracks but for HardTune, I'd mute the dry vocal to make sure you hear the full effect.

VoiceLive Play has no battery compartment. It can only be powered from the 12VDC 400mA input, so you need to make a power pack for that.

EQ is part of the Tone settings. There are several styles there, but EQ is adaptive and can't be set up manually.
It's a pity TC Helicon have gone mute. Anyone know if this can be connected to any of their Voicetone pedals? Also does Voice Live Play have automatic compression, de-essing and tone on with any preset or does one have to do that manually?

In the setup menu, there's a control to select your Mic Type. If you set it to Condenser, it'll activate +48V phantom power and your condenser should work.

Филипп Черненко In stereo you get 15 secs, 30 with undo off. In mono you get 30 secs, 60 with undo off. You can record as many overdubs as you want to on the original loop. Undo works on the most recently recorded overdub.
you just press the favorite button again, and the FAV icon will disappear from the preset, and it won't be a part of the FAVORITE genre anymore.
HELP! I've just bought the voicelive play, we have a rock band, and I'm having some problems in our rehersal. We rehearse in a small room acoustically isolated and I connect the voicelive in just one amplifier, I don't know why it makes a lot of noise whistles really loud) when I turn the volume and the gain up and if I turn them down, we can't hear the effects and my voice is low and strange, it's even hard to hear the reverb. I don't know if I made the presets wrong or set up. HELP!.
I guess the internal gain the on left side is too high.
i have this same issue and idk how to combat it, if mic gain is too low the fx wont trigger. But if its too high, then FOH Sound gets a lot of feedback, how do i fix this
