Twig Witch I have played solstice, even at the time I wrote my previous comment. Yet I still believe they were, in fact, antagonistic. Now, there is an extremely common misconception that the words “antagonistic” and “villainous” or “evil”. You see, an antagonist is someone who works against the protagonist. The protagonist is the main character of a story (stories can have multiple protagonists, as is the case in Oneshot). Now, in most stories, the protagonist(s) is the hero(es), and it is because of that, that when we hear “antagonist”, we automatically think “evil”. However, what if the protagonist of the story is also the villain? Then the antagonist may or may not be a hero. Now, in Oneshot, at the end of the first run, the Entity acts antagonistically towards one of the 2 protagonists, e.g. you, the player, by cutting off your contact to Niko and preventing you from reaching your goal. The Entity felt bad for Niko, a young child separated from their family and forced in an alien world; the Entity’s world. Or rather, the Entity themself. And as such, it desperately attempted to bring Niko home, but at the cost of making them unable to speak to and be spoken to by the player, a person Niko trusted, loved and depended on, and even flat-out lying to Niko that the player had abandoned them. This could’ve been a lot easier though, had the Entity just explained their plan to the player, so I felt this antagonistic act was a bit needless, although of course I understand their actions and forgive them.
Alula is clearely one shiny character in that game. In a world where negativity and fatalism is getting all over the place, this small child is here, joyful, smling to a decaying world. She symbolizes why this world must be save...and how it could be saved. Then...When you think about it...maybe she is so joyful and happy in this misery...because she don't know any better, because she didn't live during the crash (metaphorically), but onyl during the aftermath, being so young. Then, either way, her excessive positivity was a blast, and a darn good relief to get...
A beacon of light in a world fastly falling into the dark, and yet if you could bring them, Show them, the light of the world beyond the screen, let them follow nico, why I think that would be wonderful
If we take a closer look at this philosophic message about Alula's vs. the other's personality with the SpongeBob comparison, Alula is clearly the SpongeBob-like character: she's kind, optimistic, and she's definitely a happy-go-lucky type of a girl. While others, including her older brother, Calamus, are the Squidwards of this world: pessimistic, they've lost hope and they're ready to die with the universe they live in. But everyone, remember this important life lesson: DO NOT BE CALAMUS! Be more like Alula instead. Nobody wants to be a Squidward.
Alula is the best character no matter what anyone tells me. She's so quotable! Here are some of my favorite quotes from her! "Wow! The messiah really DOES know everything!" "Your eyes! They remind me of the sun! That's why you're our messiah, right? "...Seriously? (proceeds to kick rock)" "That's a book! I can't read yet!" "This is the courtyard. It's got water... and... stuff..." "Sometimes we go to visit Mom! Well, her grave, anyway." ALULA IS AN AMAZING CHARACTER
Alula's OST, Alula, is like a cheery version of Children of the Ruins; probably symbolizing that she is the cheerful and the source of happiness between the two If Calamus has one, I'm guessing it would've been somewhat more sad and/or melancholic
@@paws9248 Well, technically... You have the option of the True Reset, just like Undertale has. To me, this is the kind of music I can just listen to forever without ever getting tired of it... The sounds are so somber yet warm and uplifting, with love and attention put into every note... The emotion is wild, and this game would be so much less without the soundtrack- That isn't to say that the game would be terrible with a different soundtrack though, this OST just...
