Did you notice Buckingham Palace near the end of the video! That was in 1983 , by 2012 they played live on the roof of Buckingham Palace for the queen's golden jubilee.
This genre of music is called Ska Music that was created in Jamaica in the 1960's. In the late 70's British bands became popular with what is known as 2nd wave Ska with bands like The Specials, Madness, and The Clash. Then in the 90's America experienced 3rd wave Ska with bands like Sublime, No Doubt, The Mighty Mighty Bosstones and Less Than Jake. I hope you guys do more Ska music reactions. 😊
I’ve loved this song since 1983. So catchy and fun! A similar band that I always liked is The Specials, who mix Pop with Reggae and Ska. It was a bit of a trend that was started by The Police and Rush. Lots of great songs from that era with Reggae and Ska influences.
We had an alternative radio station in Los Angeles called KROQ and they had all the greatest stuff from the 80's and especially European music. If you want to hear one of the greatest piano solo's from that era (or any) listen to THE THE - Uncertain Smile.
"Our House" was used in several commercials in the 80s and 90s yet there was a British comedy sitcom that did use the song by Madness as their theme song. The show was called "Dodger, Bonzo and the Rest". The theme song was re-recorded by the cast members for the show. Here's the link, Ace! ruclips.net/video/VlDwiLfI6dY/видео.htmlsi=n1Sy2MoChMeIgSxy
Thanks, Ace & guys.. c'mon with the Madness - especially "One Step Beyond"... lol (p.s. the video is wild, of course, but also takes some "Monty Python" themes...)
You might enjoy this bit of UK comedy - YT vid -'Can I Come In Your House? | Micky Flanagan Live: The Out Out Tour'. He's from the East end of London and uses some Cockney rhyming slang - 'Barnet' = hair and 'syrup' = wig

Love the song!!!! Maybe an unpopular opinion, but man......ditch the co-host/reactor! I left half way through, because of him.
Madness use strings so so well in all their tracks.
