Went into goldsmiths 2 days ago and enquired about my 2 watches i have on order 2 op’s for me and my wife we have been waiting for 13 months they told me another 2 years wait minimum. They have indicated that if I buy some jewellery I might jump up the queue. So glad I went to Preston’s I have already received my wife’s watch and hopefully getting my submariner later this year
You moved to the right AD, If I was with Preston’s from the Start I would have had a massive collection without all the 💩 I had to deal with along the way. 🫡☘️
Great video. I do have 126300 smooth/jubilee DJ with mint green motif dial recently discontinued and it’s an absolute stunner.. Best and most comfortable + the most versatile watch I’ve ever owned.
I got my DJ36 blue with smooth/jubilee (since sold), and although I didn't regret the decision I would definitely go fluted if I had the choice now. However, going against the norm I would pick the oyster bracelet. It adds a touch of sportiness, whereas fluted/jubilee is pure dress watch. And with a 7.25" wrist the 36 is the perfect fit. You need 8"+ for the 41 imho.
I recently picked up a blue/fluted/jubilee after a 5 month wait. When I saw the the two bezel options side by side, it was a no brainer. In addition, I've read alot of observations about how easily the smooth bezel scratches. I have a beautiful watch...sometimes you just have to say WTF. As always, a great review, thank you!

2 days ago bought 126333 champagne dial, fluted bezel/jubilee, 2023 for £11,250. Box / Card. No wait list. Grey dealer. Watch is perfect condition & also backed up by dealers warranty as well as Rolex warranty. Couldn't be happier & the bracelet feels amazingly comfortable.
Jubilee all day long on a Datejust. Wear like silk on the wrist. The Datejust has perfect balance on the wrist. It’s by far the most comfortable all metal Rolex. Wears beautifully. It’s the most comfortable all metal watch ever built.
I have that exact combo Brendan (smooth/jubilee) but found it to not only be too blingy but the bezel sticks out more against the Jubilee bracelet whereas with the Oyster it blends seamlessly. It’s on Oyster now and much prefer it.
Recently picked up a two tone GMT rootbeer from Prestons in Wilmslow, dealt with Attila, couldn’t be happier with the service - definitely want a stainless steel jubilee next which I know will take a bit longer but until then, going to enjoy the one I have 🙌

I bought this popular video watch from amzwatch , which was originally priced at a few thousand dollars, but now it's only $380! It's really suitable to pick up feces!
You can swap out what ever you want just swap back to original if you send out to Rolex. Bezels , bracelets are easiest things to swap on Rolex’s. Just get the smooth ok jubilee and get a REAL Rolex Bezel for 1200£ save 800£ quid 💷 !
My AD told me jubilee, fluted blue/green dial in either 41 or 36 is a 2-9 months wait. However the AD I go to takes only a certain amount of requests per model per year. You have to make a small non-refundable deposit and your watch is guaranteed within a year. So you never have to wait longer than a year, but they can decline your request. Pretty nice, because I hate waiting for a call that’s most likely not coming.
Just a thought... as you have a green dial OP 41, wouldn't you consider perhaps a blue, white or slate dial DJ 41 as a contrast? They're all lovely dials, of course. I have a Wimbledon 41 smooth on Oyster bracelet which I bought from my AD in 2020 when we all had to wear masks between lockdowns. Pure luck - I went in the store one afternoon to register my interest and they had a delivery that same morning, including a DJ Wimbledon which I was offered and accepted. Price back then was £6,150.

I got a DJ 41 smooth bezel on jubilee, blue dial. It is my first Rolex and in my opinion the absolute best DJ combination. It's the perfect balance of sporty and dressy. Fluted on jubilee is way too showy, and smooth on oyster is just less interesting. My DJ is also exactly the same one Biden has. If it's good enough for a US president, it's good enough for me. I think if the US President had a fluted bezel, it would just be showy and not classy.
You can buy an alternative bracelet for a watch that comes with the bracelet. The SS GMT master , you can buy an oyster or jubilee. You can't buy an oysterflex for that watch, as an example. But if you have a watch with an oysterflex, you can buy a second oysterflex and put it on any watch you so choose.

Great content Brendan. Trying to get my first Rolex and settled on a datejust 36 smooth bezel jubilee as I feel the fluted is too dressy for what I intend to wear it for. Registered with Goldsmiths 5 weeks ago and yet to hear anything back. I also intro’d myself to an independent not officially on the list for the datejust. For an occasion, really want it before the end of the year but also want to establish a relationship that will enable me to get a steel GMT in a few years after. Who do you think is best to go with if I’m looking for a GMT in a few years also? I’ve accepted the fact I can’t get a GMT before the end of the year!

Hi Brendan have you noticed that the Rolex ad s are giving you a time line on how long the wait list is going to be for different models. They never committed to that before I don't think this is a good idea for Rolex as after a visit to the Rolex ad I came away very deflated at the wait list times they told me for the models on the list (two and a half years and three and a half years).and they preferred me to remove one of my expressions of interest so I only have two (strange that a shop doesn't want to sell you a watch).so when I left the Rolex ad I was not expecting a call for at least two years and was considering going to the Gray market.so after all that I got a call a week later for my explorer two I'm very happy as I would prefer to buy from Rolex but has left me very confused about what Rolex are doing ???? Rolex has an ad for Wimbledon, when they put up the watch at the end of the ad it is actually the Wimbledon dial with the Fluted bezel with the oyster bracelet. That made me feel like combination was totally ok. I also happen to like the Smooth on the Jubilee.
