Thanks for the honest review!
I got the Eleiko XF bar and so happy with it 4 years in, 28mm is definitely the way to go, 90% of people aren't squat, dead, benching enough to matter. Pulled 515 on it and still not super bendy but still has good whip for Oly
I will say, although no showroom, I visited their HQ gym and it is SICK! Supposedly they're working on events out there for you locals in the future. Love Colorado! - Coop
I may have gone with the double Diamond bar if I could have still gone to HQ and checked it out and saved $40 to pick it up locally. But I went with OPB because I wasn’t willing to take the risk without getting it in my hands first.
Nice green stick! I picked up the red Cerakote and the Hard Chrome. I prefer smooth sleeves over ribbed, so I'm glad I went with REP. Knurling on the Hard Chrome is noticeably slightly more aggressive and for my teens compared to the cerakote. I'm guessing Hard Chrome might be more durable than that shiny chrome stuff. Personally I prefer the Hard Chrome too over shiny chrome. The HC feels more quality and similar in looks and feel to SS but not quite when comparing to the SS Double Black Diamond I just opened.
YESSSS I've been so excited waiting for reviews on the new bars. Think I'm most interested to hear about the Hades DL bar, especially since it doesn't come in bare/stainless steel like Texas, Rogue, and Kabuki offer for their DL bars
I have the Rogue Stump bar purely due to space limitations. Would love to see a review of this and other shorter bars, mainly for those of us in more confined spaces who don’t need a crap ton of weight.
I want to seee the double black diamond power bar. I think that that it the bar most people are looking at unless there more of a cross fit guy. I definitely wanted the center knurling.
I went with the Synergee Regional on your recommendation, and honestly I think it's spot on. I had access to Rogue bars at the gym, and the Synergee feels almost as good. The almost factor is legitimately just the knurling for me. PS. I don't know what Rogue is going on, BUT with bolt carrier groups in rifles hard chrome is comsidered excellent. I feel like if it's something you can depend on for durability in a firearm, then you can probably depend on it in the gym. But that's just my line of thinking.
Except he did mention better knurl, tighter sleeve tolerances, plus cheaper for cerakote and includes the sleeve finish option that Rogue's Ohio 2.0 is $400, which for some reason he didn't even compare when looking at prices. It's basically better in every way a bar can be better. But hey, people buy Fords instead of BMWs all the time :D
@@rjm656 The Colorado bar is stated by Rep to be their flag ship bar, the Ohio Bar is Rogue's flag ship bar, hence the head to head comparison with the Ohio bar. "Better knurl" is subjective, I have both the Ohio Bar and the Ohio Power bar one has passive knurl and the other aggressive, it is application dependent. Tighter sleeve tolerances? Ok, so a bit less rattle on a powerclean? Great I guess... Rogues steel is superior, period, and drop for drop, plate for plate will last longer than rep steel.
I def. like the point at the end about where it's made. I was looking at Rep's bars and thought it was cool the Colorado was made in America until I realized, nope that's just the name. That being said, I ended up getting their deep knurl EX bar in stainless on closeout for ~$290 and if the Colorado knurling, and sleeves, are anything like that, I can see the appeal as the sleeves are smooth and the knurling is pretty great/deep. I do have the Ohio bar as well for reference, it's noticeably more passive but still awesome (and I like that it's made in America).
So to recap: Knurl is better on the Colorado, sleeves have tighter tolerances, endcaps are better, and it's cheaper for all comparable finish options, but Coop's recommendation is the Ohio bar mostly because it's Made in USA? That's such a huge bias. I mean credit to him for being honest despite the bias, but his recommendation should really be: "The Colorado is the better bar, but if you care about Made in USA above all else, here's your choices."
Knurl is more aggressive, "better" is subjective, for a all purpose bar, a more passive knurl is usually expected, a powerlifiting bar would assume a more aggressive knurl and an oly bar would assume a more passive knurl. knurl is application and personal preference dependent. Rogue's steel is 2nd to none, and Rep's steel maybe great but too early to know for sure, Rogue's warranty seem more broad including bending which reps doesn't at this time.
He also mentioned that the Ohio Bar is extremely proven and used by some of the strongest athletes. Let's be honest, there is no reason why a bar being manufactured by labor that is 1/3 the cost of American labor should cost anywhere near the price of an American made bar.
Awesome review! If you were to pick based off drop loudness/rattles, is there a clear winner? Or big enough difference that its worth factoring? True garage gym/crossfitter here and I hate to be that neighbor at 5am lol.

I’m shocked the price is this close. I usually go with Rep because of price, but you can made in USA stainless for $370, with lifetime warranty. I’m a personal trainer, starting my own box, so yea, no brainer.
I found the knurling on this bar extremely passive. Much more passive than the Ohio bar. I was pretty surprised to hear your take on the knurling. I was building up to heavy deadlifts and I had to switch bars. This one was sliding out of my hands at 225, which is a very light deadlift for me. North mention that I hook grip everything. Couldn’t hit a hang power clean at 275 either because of the grip, and that’s a weight I hit 100% of the time.

Great review Coop! I don’t think I’ve ever heard you mention how Rogue also sponsors events and athletes. Many of their products are made in the USA but they also do more to promote the sport and athletes. That is a main reason I buy their products as well.
Who and what they sponsor is purely a matter of marketing. They don't do it out of the goodness of their hearts. They are essentially buying ad space to have their logo displayed all over. They only do it as a marketing investment to build brand recognition.
I just don't get the dislike of center knurling. Weightlifting bars often have center knurling and many people front rack those day in and day out without issue.
It depends how aggressive the center knurl is. Something like a good power bar with aggressive knurling will road rash you quick. Most weightlifting bars that have it are pretty passive. I prefer to not have knurling on the bars I use for front squats and c&j for that reason.
I’ve been waiting for the double black diamond bar review but as with that one once they announced the pricing that wasn’t a significant decrease from rogues pricing I was pretty disappointed. I’m not even a huge “made in the USA” guy, if I can save 50 bucks ill take it, but saving like 10-20? Ehhh.
More like the China bar, am I right guys? Also, they moved their Colorado warehouse to Pennsylvania a couple of years ago, so I guess the name is in reference to their customer service and billing department. I'm surprised they havent outsourced all of that to India, honestly.
Do companies use bearings in bars anymore or is it mostly bushings. I have old York barbells (from the 70s) and they are indestructible working as well as day one. I bought them in high school, I’m now 67 😢
Those are Olympic bars, not power bars, or multi purpose bars. Bearings are for faster and better spin on the sleeves for Olympic lifts. They still make bars with bearings, just look for Olympic bars, and not power bars, or multi purpose bars.
@@dirtdog5045 beg to differ, not back in my day. I lifted with National top ranked powerlifters all training with York bars. They don’t spin like bearing bars I’ve seen on occasion
@HeCoversMe I was trying to answer your question for the present day, not the day of the Boomer. Also, thanks for the clown world that we are currently living in. 😉
Sounds to me that the lifetime warranty is the deal breaker/ sticky point unless you just want to hope CB doesn't bend or have any warranty issues. Less worries, if for home indoor gym/workouts none competitive, doing nothing hard core, or, not dropping the bar, I suppose.
Not really a fair assessment of his take. Rogue makes measurably more durable bars, has a better warranty, and are made in the USA. Three things that are important to a lot of people when they’re looking for a premium, “buy it for life” piece of equipment.
@@DaveSchneider7 measurably more durable and "better warranty" are kind of debatable. The Rep bar has the exact same specs, tighter tolerances, and a better finish. You can say you trust Rogue's warranty or reputation more or that you just want to support American manufacturing, and that's fine. But the Rep bar is objectively a better bar for the same price.
Rogue steel is better, and the Ohio bar is stand up to wear and tear better, hence if you are only going to get one bar for your home gym why not opt for the one you know will stand the test of time?
Lol so true - feels like a sponsorship or just buying made in usa because usa not because it's better. I see him rolling in a ford and broken down on the side of the road with the 'fix or repair daily' (FORD). I prefer to buy the best regardless of where it's made. And both companies sell all over the world and I doubt someone from Sweeden cares of it's made in usa when our cars / mfg is not exactly world class.

Review the Fringe Sport Hybrid bar! Many features unique to the competitors on the market. The matte chrome finish is unlike anything else I’ve used and feels amazing. It has an aggressive but not cutting knurling, the manganese phosphate collars are sweet, and the ridges on the sleeves give it a really awesome look! 216 k tensile strength - I’ve dropped 450 lbs from a front rack into my rack and it was unphased (bent my spotter pins). Plus, NEEDLE bearings! And Fringe Sport is a great brand whose products you haven’t given much exposure to. Cool company based out of Austin, TX with great company service. It’s my favorite bar multi use I’ve ever used, I think deserves more love, and has so many cool features - I think it’d be great content!
One would expect it to be made in Colorado, or in America at least lol. It is a bit disingenuous to call it the Colorado bar when every other bar is named after a state is actually made in the state its named after.
Do the Rep Olympic weightlifting bar. Rogue has like 7 weightlifting bars, and they are all expensive. I have no idea why needle bearings in some of those bars change the price ~$300+ dollars. The rep bar looks like good one size fits all for 28mm weightlifting without caring about all the IWF etc sillyness.
Glad Rep is really closing the gap between contenders. Competition for quality products is always good for the consumer.

Coop: "I like everything about this bar better, but I'd still get the Ohio Bar because Rogue is Rogue".
@@tonya7699 if you "prefer to buy" the best why would you opt for a bar made with steel out of some random warehouse in China, lol? Don't kid yourself, if you think the china bar...err i mean "colorado" bar will stand up to wear and tear as well as the Ohio bar then ive got some beach front property in Arizona to sell you.
PLEASE review the DL bar and compare against Ohio DL Bar and Texas DL Bar!
Review the squat bar next
I think with the name Colorado bar, shouldn't it be made in Colorado?
Maybe its just me, what do I know.
Review the double Diamond
Well Coop, if you don’t want that bar I would be glad to take it off your hands as I try to start a home gym🤷♂️
When is the major lutie power rack review coming out?
Work hardening is a actual legit metal process which usually allows the metal to gain higher tensile strength, not just a name convention 11:56
This may end up under my christmas tree this year.
