- Berserk returns With Chapter 365 and 366. Here is my reaction and review on the two chapters and a discussion on the future of Berserk's story.

Griffith was just nostalgic that he kept smiling and infuriating Guts even more , Guts swinging like a maniac not being able to lay a hit on Griffith was exactly what happened in their first encounter in the golden age arc , which was upsetting and heartwarming at the same time
The only "hit" if you can call it such that Guts laid on him was cutting off one strand of his hair.
Maybe Guts' slicing a strand of Griffith's hair shows how the Dragonslayer is finally soaking up enough apostle blood to harm the godhand?
guts needs to shred this kid no matter where he sees him. No talking. I hope zodd gets shredded by berserk armor.
Griffith bests Guts with relative ease, then later on Guts bests Griffith with ease in the golden age. Now Griffith got the same feeling he had during their first fight

Guts did manage to cut off a strand of Griffith’s hair went he swung at his head, it’s really easy to miss with how much is going on.

The chapters were pretty enjoyable. Some are complaining about its art and body proportions of Griffith but to me getting anything after Miura passed away is a blessing. Hope to see this beloved seires continue and come to a proper conclusion.
You're damn right, fuck those people that think otherwise. Yes berserk manga is a work of art but so is the story.
I dont care if they draw terribly. They are Miura's drawing crew and the art would not fail in his name even though the releases may be faster

Griffith showed up RIGHT IN FRONT OF GUTS.. and he still didn't transform into the Berserker. He was able to push it down and keep it at bay.
I think this actually shows that Guts has pretty much mastered his beast, and now he is using it.
Except he was just shown few chapters ago to be NOT in control of that beast. We also saw him trying to hit Griffith in full rage.
The armor should have activated with that much extreme emotions.

I think the helmet not clamping down, and showing his head with the beast eye in white on his black silhouette. Ill take that as he is becoming one or slowly taming it using it rather than it using him.🤷♂️ Everything is shown for a reason and if anything that should happens, dosen't. Its a sure sign the writers are catering to your eye. Weather they pull the wool over it is up to them. But it was significant to the highest degree.
@@TacticalReaper56 Yep. Guts seems to be able to more easily use that part of himself to get shit done, rather than losing control over his emotions.
Even with Griffith right in front of him.. he kept it cool, and a big part was probably just Casca standing right there. You just know he heard that wailing from her and desperately wanted to stop it.
Didn't the beast of darkness say he'd let guts have control. But when his rage is at its peak, he would sieze control and never let go. Am I wrong?
That has to be rough- Guts is likey torn between killing Griffith for what he's done and forever alienating him from Casca for killing their son due to Griffith possessing his body of their son or sparing his son that would allow Griffith to live to commence his likely repulsive future plan that will lead to more tragedy. He's damned if he does something and damned if he does nothing.
That's brutal
guts will end up becoming skull knight, perhaps even take on his legacy
That is just pure EVIL for Griffith's part and its a good way to rekindle our hatred for him...
i still hope...that casca kills Griffith
Guts had already made up his mind back on the Hill when Griffith told him in no uncertain terms that he couldn't care less about the literal hell he put him and Casca through, not to mention the lives of his men that he threw away and sentence to hell.
Guts is taking this guy straight to hell, no ifs or buts about it.
After I've read those 2 chapters instead of hype I felt down so much sadness for Miura. And After I saw one of his assistants tweeting that Miura when he was alive he was doing 99% of the chapters work truly made me tear up. Mad respect to Mori & the assistants for holding on on this mad pressure that some are giving them. I wish them the best & can't wait for the next chapters to come!
The recent new berserk manga chapters were made by miura's assistants. Miura made berserk chapter 364 before he died

Words can't describe how good reading Berserk again felt man, i wanted to cry and break down but I'm also so happy at the same time.
In terms of art they've done such an amazing my god, although i did have some minor complains with how Griffith looked I'd still say it looks pretty damn amazing.

i got emotional, but by the time i realized what was happening, it was already done.
even scrolling slowly and sinking my teeth into every panel, the chapters were over before i could get any momentum on my emotions.
i'm just stating this for the record, i don't have any agenda.

When I read these two chapters, I started to cry, I couldn't believe it On the other hand, I'm very excited about it What's up this year really? I feel like my head is shaking First return HxH then Berserk And now your manga I can only say thank you man
The last one is Vagabond, there's a small chance that he could return to finish his manga.
Until we actually see a chapter on screen I'm not holding my breath for Hiatus x Hiatus especially with how short the last return was.

Im pretty sure this has been mentioned tons of time now but.. In chapter 366 page 3 last panel, You will see a strand of hair that dragonslayer cut.. So it's not clearly impossible but it's far.

Also, it seems next chapter releases in the next issue of the magazine in 2 weeks, if I'm not mistaken, which is insane. It seems they've worked really hard this past year, probably slowly preparing for this. I suspect they'll keep releasing constantly until the arc is over, since they also gave an exact number, 6 chapters left, so 4 more without the ones released now.
Six chapters of the manga left, or just this arc?
@@appleb0btime 4 more left of the arc, 6 in total with the 2 released 2 days ago. They'll release these next 4 chapters biweekly as they said in their announcement a few weeks ago, then they'll slow down with the future releases as they put the story together.

There's a bit more complexity to Guts reaction to Griffith. It's important to note that at 1st amidst Casca screaming, Guts instictively tries to contain the Armor. Obviously to protect Casca in this situation and the others. So he had to focus and keep all the rage and anger towards Griffith and just enough as to not let the armor loose.
That panel of both Casca and Guts reaction is insane.
I honestly loved these chapters. They were shorter than the chapter’s Miura gave us and a few panels looked off or weird compared to Miura’s artwork but for the most part, the artwork was pretty consistently beautiful. It felt like how I’d imagine a continuation of Berserk without Miura would be and want I needed it to be. Miura’s story with a new spin on his artstyle. Not being a HUGE departure from Miura’s work and clearly identifiable as Berserk but still signifying a new start to Berserk.
Yeah, but you can really blame them their trying. But they aren't Miura so of course it wouldn't be the same but I'm sure as the story goes on it'll get better

Berserk is in good hands and that’s all we strugglers can ask for. I’m sure Miura is looking down on them smiling and at ease knowing his friends will carry on his work and give us fans the ending he couldn’t deliver himself.
It felt weird reading new content after so long it was a peculiar experience but im extremely happy
I was a bit afraid the new chapters will look too "digital" because of the way they did the latest volume cover and the gradual artsyle change before in general (not that it would really matter as long as the story is done justice and the art serves its purpose well enough).
But the art in these chapters actually reminds me of Conviction arc and even Golden Age with how sketchy and rough it gets, I love it. I have complete trust in the team's artstyle now.
I also don't mind if we don't get spreads as mindblowing as at the end of Millenium Falcon/beginning of Fantasia as long as the release pace is sensible, we don't need any more fanatical pursuit of artistic perfection, sometimes "good enough" is really enough if you want to get anywhere.
What I was thinking. It's kind of the detail of Fantasia and late Millennium Falcon mixed with the animation of late Golden Age and Conviction.
I was also thinking the same things. When I saw the spoilers of the chapter it just looked like conviction to early falcon of the millennium art and I really loved it! It has the smoothness of fantasia but the roughness of early berserk
Conviction and Golden Age arc were NEVER sketchy or rough, your mind is playing games with you. In fact, Conviction arc art and Fantasia art is more akin the old engrave masters with crosshatching, fine-detailed linework and semirealistic proportions, in the style of Albrecht Dürer or Gustave Doré. The notion that to imitate Miura's style you need to do some dirty, rough art, arises from a deep misunderstanding of how Miura's art is achieved.
And imho, Studio Gaga's approach, while valid, still lacks the depth, detailed and semirealistic Miura's approach... even in digital the art by Miura was vastly better (check his two latest episodes for reference). I'm still NOT a hater, I think Studio Gaga will improve a lot as time goes by... but to think Studio Gaga is doing better art than Miura is just being delusional or simply lacking critical art skills imho.

The thing i am so SO excited for with the series coming back is this reunion between rickert and guts once more as guts faces his own purpose again. Seeing the new rickert party form and then be left at nothing but a departure excruciating, because after miura died and the last chapter came out, while that cliffhanger, if left as it was included a sense of closure for Guts, i feel like the world of Berserk would remain a massive loose end. I see these chapters as a provocation for guts to once again turn his attention back to the world at large, which will only serve to persecute him and casca if left alone. I'm just so excited
My only (slight) grievance with the art work, wasn’t in any specific character design. Such as Griffith which a lot of people are complaining about. For me, it’s just gonna take some time to get used to the art style during actions shots…specifically Guts swinging the DS. That’s the only thing that immediately stood out to me. Idk exactly how to put it into words, but the angling of guts and indications of sword movement are a lot different than Miuras. That aside, two great chapters. And I’m excited moving forward

it hurt so much to see casca suffering already after just getting better. seeing the desperation on guts face when he realized none of his swings were connecting was beyond frustrating. it's crazy how berserk can have a simple action scene that can make a grown man tear up.

Also, glad to see normal Puck for once. The detail he got in one page was more than the past 100 chapters combined.
For those who didn't notice, guts actually DOES land one tiny hit on griffith. If you look at one of the panels after griffith seemingly phases through guts' attacks, you see a glowing piece of white hair fall off of griffith. Although small, he landed a hit on griffith.
I kinda thought that the reason he didn’t land a hit on Griffith is because Griffith isn’t actually there. Like Griffith could be somewhere else and he’s projecting himself in front of guts

i saw someone say that Guts was able to take a strand of hair of Griffiths head in chapter 366 I don't know if he actually did or that's just how that scene was drawn but that could mean guts was able to touch griffith somehow or at least his sword was able to
Nice, I'll continue to follow your videos about the next chapters. Many other people on their videos are just whining about how the art "is not that good" and "it will never be the same". Goddamit, it looks great and I really liked the execution of the panels and how it tells a lot without text. I'm so happy to have Berserk back and the quality is great.
Those people can't actually see any difference in the art style, they just want to be those people who seem like they're better than everyone else, like some galaxy brain art coneseurs.
These chapters were, legitimately, perfection. There were two ways I saw this confrontation between Griffith and co. going down:
• sob story sad shit reconciliation
• the rage.
And I prayed with everything in my fucking heart when I heard berserk was coming back, that it was the rage. And yet, I still knew guts would be as powerless as ever compared to Griffith. *Utter, bittersweet, perfection.*
Even though the artwork isn't precisely the same, but it's still well within the BERSERK we're familiar with.
I'm just happy the story is continuing. So many years, and we've been stuck in limbo for a proper closure.
Miura's assistants have this well in hand. I know they'll give it the ending it deserves in due time.
I almost started to cry when I saw those first pages. We can rest well knowing berserk is in great and capable hands. I, along with every fan are just happy. Happy to see our story finished, happy to see the art style we know and love come back. Thank you and welcome back ❤
While you can feel the missing presence of Miura; Berserk fans are an incredibly chill fanbase most of the time. We'll support this out of respect for those attempting to carry on his legacy and for the man himself!

And yea, like always the art is just astounding. Art like this or say another of my favorite manga Vagabond I stare at for so much longer than other panels of other manga. Like back in the day when I first got into manga when someone gave me the first couple Ghost in The Shell. With art like this you can get away without much dialogue at all and still tell the story. Love it.

Been a while since i was this bewildered by a chapter release. Seeing this giant being brought back to us is genuinely one of the most beautiful moments in my manga fan life.
These two chapters felt very short. But very impactful. I loved it. Great start!
Great commentary! I read the chapters and for the first time ever needed to hear someone talk about what we just experienced(regarding berserk. I've avoided a lot of berserk youtube content...cause early on it seemed misguided and rather toxic), searched "berserk new chapter" and you were the first one up...took a shot and dude, fantastic!
I love the art in these new chapters...they respect the original art, but they are different in their own rights...cleaner lines, not a lot of obsessive cross-hatch shading which was Kento's signature...but it looked great! Almost like a cover of a song...all the familiar beats are there but they don't attempt to copy what the master perfected!
I'm pretty emotional...when Kento passed, I steeled myself to the reality that berserk would be an unfinished masterpiece...that ended in a way that...felt fine. Hearing that his best friend and his apprentices are finishing the work is something truly beautiful...and unseen in any medium (I'm sure there must be SOME exceptions).
Forgive a lame joke...I half expected Sanderson to offer to finish the series (hold for groans).

Chapter 365 felt surreal and by the end of 366 I realized Berserk is back!!! Thank you to Kouji Mori and all the artists at Studio Gaga for continuing the legacy of the late Kentaro Miura.
I thought the most interesting part was when guts armor started to creep up and seal him in, but it didnt. that made guts new look with the eye even more intriguing.

I feel like this could’ve benefitted from a bit more dialogue personally, but I’m still super excited and so happy to see it back. This isn’t really what I expected of the chapter, I kinda thought everyone would be a little more confused and conflicted about the moonlight boy who casca and guts love really being Griffith, but it does make sense that guts is the kind of guy who swings his sword first and asks questions later. That’s always who he’s been and in a moment of profound confusion and blinding anger, this is the most logical reaction. Maybe that’s why I didn’t expect it, because it was kind of expected? Idk lol, regardless art was amazing and I hope we get more soon
Re read berserk in 4 days these moments were Soo incredible, while having the previous arcs fresh in memory.
No amount of Steroids could give as much of a testosterone spike as reading all of berserk in 4 days!!! Well done
What a great start for a continuation! They put a lot of work in those chapter and it shows. So far I got a good feeling about this :) If I had to be nitpicky though: here and there the pacing felt a little bit rushed. The fast pacing was good and fitting, but maybe it could have used a few more panels to make some transitions a little smoother (at least I thought so when I read the Schierke/Farnese part).
I was skeptical, but they really did nail it out of the park!! Now I want more!
The fact that the Beast of Darkness was not used against Griffith is a massive hint at what is to come

You are the only RUclipsr that covers Berserk that I watch. I personally appreciate how well you dissect every single element of a lot of our favorite story of all time. I appreciate you for the time you take man seriously much love my fellow struggler.
I have to say, I impressed that guts actually handle the berserk armor like a pro, he sees Griffith, we see how the beast of darkness was jumping right into guts, but nevertheless he never uses it. We see the eye of the beast in Guts face, yes, but... I was impressed about him not going full berserk with Griffith in front, moreover in the fact that the beast uses whatever he encounters to go full berserk
Quick note, I'm pretty sure it was Farnese calling out to Shierke with the "Master!" lines. I don't think Shierke would mistake Griffith, a being she understood as dangerous and monstrous, to be her master, but I don't know, I'd like to hear other thoughts on this. With so much going on, it's easy to misinterpret or completely miss some interesting details.
I also think it was Farnese. The speech bubbles saying "master" were jagged and separated from Shierke's inner thoughts. It was Farnese calling out to her, and is further evidenced by Farnsese outright calling Shierke master after reaching her.
So glad this series is back, thank you for this video i will go ahead and read it.

I liked the chapters, I also liked that there wasn't too much dialog because it just added to the tension. I hope Miura would have liked them as well.

Great start for the new team.
I only really got into berserk a couple months ago, but I’m glad they decided to continue it. I can’t believe it took me so long to finally to watch/read this series.
This chapter gave me faith someone tried and succeeded with continuing the story in tone. The art is iffy at times, but hey they are adapting
To be fair, replicating Miura would be a herculean feat for anyone. They did a good enough job, the art is still fantastic overall
@@filipvadas7602 It has been in times the Art is iffy and hard to look at like Zodd. The whole chapter was good coming back to The crew.
This is likely the final confrontation with Zodd. Skull Knight is still there and Zodd is facing Berserker Guts.
I'm predicting Zodd's death and blood resulting in the Dragonslayer being able to hurt Griffith. This will force the retreat due to Griffith knowing Guts is now capable of killing a Godhand

I'm wondering what the interaction between the princess and Casca would be like if after they know the full story
A thought I'm curious about, do you think the breakdown would have taken a little longer without Casca's reaction? Because I can see the more mature Guts wanting to feel things out just in case.
But with Casca's Brand erupting with the violence it was shown to, and her emotional trauma rushing back, that's a culmination of both of Guts' prime motivations, forcing him past the edge.

Yeah, it would really tie into Berserk's whole "Perfect Storm" style of tragedy.
Which, if so, is insanely optimistic, because that means they understand Miura's visual storytelling.

I agree, it was fantastic. I just started reading Berserk a few weeks ago, like I ended chapter 364 and a few days later they announced the continuation so it's been a wild ride mentally for me for which I'm still not coming down. I am on my second read now

Just to talk about the artwork, it actually looks good, not quite miura but I think just a few chapters will lead to one being able to mistake them for miura panels.
Storywise, it's so amazing. I had no doubt about the writing side of things. The ony worry I had was the artwork and paneling.
Thankfully they're very generous with the spreads of panels and appropriately placed dialogue.
I can't wait for more

The series plot is a Trope. Griffith and Guts Both are driven by the Same Desire to Live to the Fullest. Both have similar and completely polar opposites of those Desires. Only in Combat do they Communicate the Clearest. Like Naruto and Sasuke, they talk with their fists

The chapters were utterly amazing, I was just blown away, watching Guts just explode, the page where he’s just attacking in a total frenzy but completely incapable of hitting him. Unless that is a hair that’s cut, it does look like he’s cut a strand of hair off, but what does that mean? Will he eventually be able to cut him down?
Then I just adored the pages of Schierke, getting sucked towards Griffith on the astral plain, amazing, I was just shaking the entire time reading it, barely breathing properly.
5:48 I think she doesn't believe to be her master. That bubble with the word "--ster. Ma-" was actually Farnese talking to her only that it seems just then Schierke could hear her. That's why after it, there's again another call from Farnese to Schierke as "Master".

I think I don't just want Guts to kill Griffith but for him to break Griffith's soul (dunno if he has one left) and shatter Griffith's dream and bring Falconia to the grounds. Griffith is such an odd character he has so much power at his expense and what he does is play war and try to rule like wtf you are a godhand you could annihilate any army in mere seconds. The people of Windham have been mesmerised and I think Guts needs to sever that trust between Griffith and the people and that would be a major blow to him. We all know how much of a psychopath Griffith becomes when he is rejected and how he becomes like a child and I'd love to see that man's dream fall apart in front of his eyes. When all is said and done I think Guts should kill him and live a happy life even if not for long with his friends who've become akin to family.
I think everyone wants that.
Not for Guts to simply kill him, but to expose him and break him down.
Also for Guts to have a happy ending of sorts after the constant pain his life has been.
The proper ending would be for Guts to defeat the "Idea of Evil". The only way he can? By proving it wrong. The idea of evil says every human is evil and thoses who are not are only not evil because they did not have the chance to be evil.
But if Griffith can be redeemed, cleansed from evil, having the power of all at his finger tips and yet human and pure? That would shatter the entire idea of Evil, destroying the entirety of the Abyss
@@hatemongerofthetoxicbrood6561 I think the Idea of Evil is necessary as it embodies all the suffering of the humans. To battle a greater evil a greater good has to be born. Defeating Griffith would be a stepping stone for Guts to reach the absolute peak of good and he may even became akin to a Godhand. Throughout reading Berserk I have had a burning question in my mind that if there is evil there must be good somewhere, if there are Godhands who are essentially evil and reign supreme over all beings and play literal "GODS" in the fate of every being, there has to be some power similar to the Godhand who is essentially good and due to the circumstances and changes in the world has been rendered powerless. I think Guts will need to become this power of good with all his hatred, anger, insecurities and change the world so that both evil and good can stand on equal footing.
If an Idea of Good exist, the very existence of it will destroy Idea of Evil.
The Idea of Evil hinges on the idea that there is no exceptions.
You do not need another equally big Cosmic power to defeat it. All you need to do is to provide one exception. One outlier. One that can be redeemed.

As per your theory we could speculate and say that Skull Knight could be a anomaly as he is in constant battle with the Idea of Evil but his strength doesn't allow him to do much harm to it. Why can't he be the outlier?
If we take Guts as an example he may be strong but he can't defeat Evil on his own as he is now. Why do you think that he would be able to surpass all beings and be the one outlier, one exception that wins against all odds.
It has to be the Idea of Good and the people surrounding him that will help Guts defeat Griffith and them working together for a single goal is essentially the Idea of Good and along these lines Idea of Good will again rise.

I'm so happy to have caught up with the manga a day prior to the chapter release. I got into beserk recently and so happy I did. (Started vagabond because everyone's recommending it)
I started berserk about three weeks after Miura died. As I read on I felt all the highs of the story and it was amazing. When I finished I felt empty but sort of content with the idea that this cliffhanger would be the end of things. But now I'm really feeling it again. Berserk being back at all, not to mention what's going on so far, has taken me back to the highs of the winter duel and things like zodd and guts taking out Ganishka's storm cloud
Apart from the stellar action and art we recieved (as well as a perfect cliffhanger that left readers eager for more), I think the part that intruiged me the most was Schierke mistaking Griffith for her master. Really hope they delve into that in the next few chapters
