Well, I got March wrong, but not by too much. If the next three releases come quarterly like this then The Future Of Berserk 2025 will be an interesting one 👀
I know Young Animal wants to milk this series for as much as possible, but I do think they need to be careful when thinking about 10+ years to complete this. We’ve already lost our beloved author in a untimely way, and if the people closest to him don’t finish this in their time than I think anyone else picking up Berserk’s completion would be too far removed from capturing Miura’s vision.
It's already debatable whether the continuation after Miura's passing should be considered on par with the previous chapters (imho, it shouldn't, it should have been a sequel), but continuing the manga after even Koji Mori or Studio Gaga would simply lose any valid connection to Miura's vision and just become a cash grab.
Most people have already dropped the series to be completely honest with you. Only the more diehard fans still read, and while I enjoyed the series immensely, I could tell immediately that Berserk would never be the same after reading the very first chapter published after Miura's death. Plenty of people hold the same sentiment and would rather see the series as a great memory than watch it crash in the hands of other creators.

@acacrazygames they will finish it, I think they are trying to map out how they are going to reach the end. They may know the ending but they may not know all the details on how it reaches that end and probably have to fill in gaps plus the part where it is finishing the story of a best friend who passed. Writing the story is probably an emotional thing because of constantly remembering the losss.

I'm just wondering how a studio that only releases a 5 minute chapter every 6 months is even going to keep the lights on, especially if the next few chapters are mid and people start losing interest
i have no problem if they release a chapter every 6 month as long as it extremely long chapter like 4x times longer
My theory is studio gaga has slowed down because this is a new arc, and they've probably realized they bit off way more than they can chew. With elfheim we already had an established setting, but now everything has to be made up, both setting and new characters. Mori even said that trying to piece together Berserk was like trying to decipher the bible, meaning they are unsure of the trajection of the story. It's sad, but I think that's why they've slowed down, it's a much larger and harder task than studio gaga realized.
Thats a great point, and you put that into words really well - there is indeed a great chance that they are now in deep water without a paddle.

I think to best figure out what mioria wanted is to have a team of people who are well versed with the story and have a talent similar to mioria for dark fantasies
for real there can be different peoples able to help like the author of fire punch, the one of shin angyo onshi and the one of magi all have a deep understanding of humanity deep degeneracy and love
Hope we get more Berserk and Hunter x Hunter in 2024! It looks like RuriDragon might return, so anything is possible. I hope the members of Studio Gaga go on to have their own careers once Berserk is finished, it'll be interesting to see.
I wonder if the story of King Gaiseric/Skull Knight’s past will be told through the blood memories of the Beserker armor.
Amazed they are capable of continuing it, but what do I know. Out of all the content that’s come out of Japan, Berserk is one that deserves completion. It’s gone on so damn long, my mind can’t even comprehend an end. It’s one of my most beloved manga, but strangely…to me at this point…it’s like watching a love of mine having a long lingering death. Of course I love it and don’t want it to die/end…but also wanting it to rest in peace after all this time. Friggin weird yes never felt that way over a story but damn, I seriously just hope that it has a suitable and fitting end for something of its caliber.
I would've never started this series in the first place if i knew its not completed, but now im stuck dammit, its so good

I think that knowing the ending is not the same as knowing the path to such ending. Maybe that’s what they’re struggling to fill in. I heard that some Mangaka like to have an ending in mind in the beginning or very early on so this might be the case

All else aside Alex I have to stop and give you credit for a moment. You are easily the most informed and well researched berserk content creator on RUclips and its barely a contest. Your analyses are always very well thought out compared to the standard of throwing thoughts against a wall, not to mention your video presentation is just really pleasant.
As for releases, I think youve hit the nail on the head with Hakushensha holding off on rushing berserk out. It makes a lot of sense unfortunately, if Berserk really is the biggest seller they have (or at least is near the top) investors and stakeholders will be far less impressed if it was being pushed to its conclusion with enthusiasm. That being said I doubt we're going full Martin or Rothfuss here, or even Scott Lynch. The first 2 have been dealing with more personal struggles that's prevented them from making progress. Lynch has the 4th Gentleman Bastards book more or less finished, hes just been struggling with intense mental health issues and cant bring himself to release it. But Mori is actually happy to see berserk completed and it seems the team is very capable of working at a good steady pace that would churn our releases every, say 2 months maybe. I doubt Hakushensha are just sitting on a berserk stockpile but they probably have a lot of control over how much time the team should spend per chapter.
Mori did say Berserk should finish within a decade and I'm hoping that's not baseless optimism or info not accounting business interference.
Even though Berserk is Hakusensha's best seller, the continuation is getting some backlash in Japan. Even Mori himself said that they get letters from fans saying that they won't read this "fake Berserk". Some fans there find it disrepectful to continue the manga without its creator, and they think that the new stuff is way inferior to Miura's work, basically comparing it to a doujinshi. I've also seen some comments saying that, in the magazines, the new episodes are ranking lower and lower, but I don't know where to check whether that's true or not.

Of course you were always gonna get a lot of backlash no matter what decision was made but I'd like to believe that most people across the globe would understand the difficulty the team faced and have the humility to understand that Mori and Miuras friends know far better than us random fans what Miuras wishes would be. I have my complaints with the newer chapters too but Ive never had anything but huge respect for Mori and Gaga.
@@ASmartNameForMe I don't think they care about Mori being Miura's best friend, but about the quality of the project, and after reading Mori’s interviews I have to say their feelings are very warranted.

He wants to make sure his best friends art is done properly and I can appreciate that take your time I fell in love with this series again late last year when re reading it
for me, the story has ended. in one of the last chapters Miura made (360 i think), Guts is standing at the edge of a cliff overlooking the ocean and thinking to himself "what to do now?" and the Skull Knight appears behind him and says something like "you bear witness to the end of your journey." and to me that's a place where i'm comfortable letting the story end. it poses an interesting question to the audience, does Guts stay on the island where it's safe and live peacefully and happily with Casca and his friends? or does he continue his journey of revenge and leave to go after Griffith? i know the chapters released afterwards have taken that decision out of his hands but i like to imagine what would Guts have chosen to do? if he had the choice.

I hope they never make a deluxe 15. The black binding on that book represents to me a caliber of art and storytelling that unique and worth celebrating. Those black books represent Miura. If anything they should market the continuation as something different. Maybe white and blue to contrast the eras and tap into the Guts/Griffith comparison.

Berserk is a poor series: It has a masterpiece-like manga. I don't know any other manga better than it. If someone asks which is the best manga, 90% people’ll say Berserk, 10% will say Vagabond; However, the anime is so bad , all the anime except the 1997 one are like a blasphemy against the creator of manga, and on top of that, the games are also so bad. I really will never understand why companies could not make such a perfect manga popular in neither the anime nor gaming community...
The art really fucks it honestly that’s the #1 problem making a anime would be expensive asf on top of that cost so much god damn money it not even funny. Then a game same thing it would take forever for it to look right and run smooth people always say that they would want a souls like berserk game but Guts doesn’t move and fight like that it would be wack and boring if would need to be something like god of war which that game does look amazing and run smooth but Berserks look would be hard to make. On top of all that no one wants to touch the IP cause the backlash they would get because Berserk is dark and people are babies now a days😂It would be awesome but I don’t see another anime ever happening 😭😢
Just here to recommend you Jojos Steel Ball Run. To me it's the best manga ever. Even a bit better than berserk because this one is finished

Probably. Japan is still catering to a Worldwide audience, so I think 42 will have an English release at some point.
My Best guess is a year from it's Japanese release (Last September) and there is a pattern to support this if you look around a bit online.
So potentially sometime in September this year. Volume 43 will probably follow suit...

I am a bit concerned about the possibility that Mori will be less involved. I trust the team but Mori has to at least define the overall shape of the finale
I don't think he'll be more involved with the project than this. In his latest interview he said "With my abilities, I'd never be able to create nor draw Berserk", which I guess is the same reason why he gave up on his original idea to publish an illustrated book. So most things are being delegated to the assistants, who aren't experienced writers and have never really been involved with the series beyond doing minimal tasks (I'm not saying this in a bad way, it's just a fact).
@@a_new_dude7794 I cant be sure about that last part since I dont think they lack experience. Miura taught them and they even had their own manga without his direct hand while he was still alive.
@@thebonfireofgains it's not true that Miura wasn't involved with Duranki. He did all the storyboards and corrected the studio's art, it's not a manga that SG created themselves. The whole point of Duranki was to train the studio so that they could help Miura more with Berserk, but nothing changed in that regard after the first, and last, six episodes of that manga, so Miura still did almost everything by himself.
I'm just happy we're getting something after Miura's tragic death. With so many loose ends it would've been all the more tragic if it ended after Miura's passing and while the extreme perfectionists of the Berserk fanbase aren't satisfied with the new material for not living up to their impossible expectations I'm just happy to get anything at all. Miura left an amazing legacy behind him and I can only be grateful for all of it.

Not surprising, since it's a series that shouldn't be rushed. It may take 7 to 10 years to finish it, but who knows they could surprise the fans. Either way, I don't mind waiting for the next chapter, since I know the team will give it their all. Not to mention, I'll take the time to read different series until Berserk returns.

as scary as it is to think about what could happen with the story, i think they've been doing an amazing job so far and everything is still a super smooth read and very intriguing. i just hope they can continue as they're doing and not try to rush anything and try to find their flow into connecting the dots miura left behind.

I personally think Skull Knight will use the sword of actuation to kill the idea of evil, but no matter what I think and want to happen I'm glad to see Berserk carried on after Miura's death.
6 monyhs without a chapter, but that is better than rushing
The stuff we've gotten has felt rushed. Guts moping in his room for 4 issues is way out of character. With Miura, I felt like each issue left me satisfied, and Guts was always a badass. Mori, on the other hand, writes him like a crybaby.

I believe that eventho they might hold some chapters for certain dates, considering it would be more profitable, they should still take their time to make the story flow. They'll have to "make up" some dialogues and stuff so the story can match up what Mori knows, but that's the only way they can do it. I do hope that they have a more consistent releasing schedule, but not to a point where it loses its quality. Keeping up Miura's work is an extremely challenging feat, that only his team can possibly do, so I hope we get it's conclusion in the best way we can.

I'm personally really grateful that they've been giving us a lot of chapters these last couple years but if they go back to the way that miora did it where he waited literally years to put out one chapter I'm fine with that we as the berserk Community should already expect this berserk is something that takes so long to make and that was with the author being alive I imagine it takes even longer with him being dead. So honestly I'm okay with three four chapters a year or even one chapter a year I don't really care and it has good art the story is going great and we're going to see the end of this story. Sooner rather than later personally I don't think berserk is going to be over within the next decade. I think it's going to take at least 15 years for them to be done with it. it might take even longer

Honestly the art was never going to live up to Miura in the first place. And if it's already not as good can we just hand it over to someone who can draw quicker like idk whoever draws vinland saga (im not saying he should drop everything and go work on berserk im just saying someone like him). Miura was a perfectionist, that was the reason for the delays and hiatuses, whoever's working on it now shouldn't need to be. Yes, it's the reason his art was so incredible but that's behind us now and they should work on just finishing the story.

Aight I'm gonna be a massive dick here but it has to be said. Berserk is a mindblowing manga BUT like too many, it has the very annoying flaw of being developed over multiple fucking DECADES. 32 years to be more precise. God I wish authors wouldnt stretch their stories forever. It's good to have an ending eventually. I'm looking at you, One Piece. Can we have a fucking ending? Authors now have the time to die before they finish their work. I'm willing to bet my house that Hunter x Hunter wont be finished by the time the author dies. Shorter series like Death Note are perfectly fine. Attack On Titan is an exemple of perfection. 34 volumes from 2009 to 2021. Long enough to have well developed storylines, short enough so that we dont have to wait till the heat death of the universe for the ending to happen.
Regardless of quality, regardless of friendship, these episodes should not exist, when an author dies, his story dies with him. No one can recreate, regardless of information, another authors universe.

Those are not "a random writer and illustrator", those are Miura's lifelong best friend who is the only person he trusted enough to talk about details about the entire story before he even started drawing it, and a team of artists and editors Miura personally formed to work with him and even draw for him for many projects. This is not a fan fiction, it's a homage to Miura, a work of love made to finish the masterpiece Miura wanted the world to experience, with the same storybeats he wanted to tell and with the artstyle he worked hard to teach his team.
