@@coffeedude well, there's nothing wrong with an ending that logically wraps up all the loose ends in the story without wanting you to know more because, well, it's an end -- story's over. Sure, unexpected/controversial endings are fun -- for example, I don't even get why AoT ending is so controversial, for me it's the same as FMA ending -- a fairly logical yet also unexpected conclusion of the story. Pretty much all of Naoki Urasawa's works also have lackluster/controversial endings, but even keeping that in mind I still consider them masterpieces.
An ideal ending in my mind just has to nicely wrap up all the loose threads in the story and leave it at that. FMA ending has an added effect that I have not seen a single (real) person who wasn't happy with it.

Usogui is pure greatness, a different kind of fiction. So layered and so well made, and the art progression is just something else. The characters are where it really shines, Baku and Souichi are one of the best protag and antag duo’s ever. Their dynamic and parallels is incredible with so much depth, and is such a genius relationship. Kyara I think is arguably one of the best side characters ever, and his conclusion is just incredible. The last three arcs are phenomenal and you’d be hard pressed to find a three arc stretch as good as Protoporos, Air Poker and Surpassing The Leader. I truly do think it’s an extremely underrated masterpiece, and should be held in as high regard as the other greats of manga.

My primary reasons for loving the series is how it handles the concept of individuality, destiny, and life. Baku's primary motivation is to defy fate. He wants to exert his own will upon the world by betting his own life in death games. He seeks the thrill of conquering fate and winning purely through his own ability. Souichi, however, attributes his position as the leader in Kakerou as his "fate" because of his mother's recording. His mother saw extraordinary potential in Souichi even before he was born and Souichi wants to live up to this ideal as "perfection". He believes that he will be "the man who will keep winning" because he is fated to win. However, Baku shatters that delusion by showing Hal that he can never achieve true perfection. He is the perfect antithesis to Baku. Individuality vs Conformity, Freedom vs Slavery, An unknown future vs a predetermined fate.

We try to push it out there competing with other top manga because it's fantastic, and heavily underrated. I'm honestly surprised how much you liked the Battleship Arc. Most of the people I've seen on the internet rated it low (I really liked it btw).
The first half for me was good/great. The beginning served as an introduction to what this manga is about and each arc gradually increased sakes and mind games. The second half was amazing, what else can I say lol.
Also the choreography for fights was amazing, the art had the biggest change I've ever seen in manga.

This Manga was amazing. It was so intelligently written, with the author's ability to foreshadow and write complex scenarios. Also the humour needs to be mentioned more. Marco being Marco gives me joy, he might be my favourite character. Tower of Karma arc was my favourite. I would give Usogui a 9.5/10. It would be a 10, but Baku isn't that complex or masterfully flawed Protagonist that I seek. Even then, I consider it to be a top 5 manga.

The start of the manga can vary for different people. For me, I enjoyed how things were at the start and how Baku was already established as this demonic gambler god who never loses. While that would make it boring that he always wins, it was still incredibly interesting to read how he won. Furthermore, I liked that the start was slow, it got me invested and got me liking it more and more. For one, the reason why I liked the slow start, was that it made sense as to how Baku's grand plan would take time to truly play out. So first 200 chapters basically preparing the reader for what is about to come was an excellent idea. I will say, that doesn't mean that the beginning parts of the manga are perfect, since for some people it can be quite boring or repetitive, but overall, as you said in the video, it all paid off for the end.
Usogui is the best manga I have read so far. I'm not gonna say it is peak fiction and beats every other series, but for me, it is nr 1. Cuz, I feel like people now have begun to think that their opinions are objective rather than subjective. So when someone says that they like a series more because of reasons they find the series interesting, others will say that it is wrong because they like their series more and since the majority likes one series more, doesn't make it an objective fact.
    (Wow I wrote alot)
Anyway, great video, really enjoyed it. 👍

This video was executed similarly to the experience you had with usogui as a whole.
The first part, i didn't really get into watching the video through as a lot of this part was largely unrelated to the series and even though i know that it was all just build up to your viewpoint to the whole video.
In the mid section of the video, i understood that the early parts of the manga wasn't so good for you and the dialogue was neglible due to not having an official translation. But you were being a lot more fair and you elaborated a lot more time in the research you did for the series as whole. Which is lit ngl. Even including as to why the community describes usogui as it is. I was also glad that your experience with usogui had developed from, how you had trouble with enjoying it at first and then being unable to stop reading as you enjoyed it a ton
In the later parts of the video, i started to enjoy the video a lot more, as you started to actually talk about the ups and downs of the series in a more open minded manner and with a clearer more contextual method. A lot of your final verdicts were agreeable and i would most definately see where your coming from when speaking about your experience enjoying usogui.
Though personally for me atleast, when it comes to enjoyability, kaiji and usogui while similar. It's a bit of a stretch to compate the two.
Kaiji is definitely enjoyable from start to finish but usogui as a whole is a unique experience on its own.
If you've seen kaiji before usogui like i did.(more specifically the kaiji anime)
Then you could see what i mean by this
Kaiji may be more enjoyable from the start but it isn't usogui.
That being said, ive never bothered to finish the manga of kaiji but from my friends view of it as well( who read usogui and is up to date with kaiji )
They came to the same conclusion as i did as well.
Overall this video was ok. I kinda hope you would be more ignore the community exageration. Even if they were right as i would rather listen to an usogui review, Not a community review of any anime genre.
Community reviews for me atleast, always makes it seem like the thing that the community is based of off will always make it seem worse then what it really is.

The more and more you explained this manga, the more it just sounded like if Yugioh season 0 had been what the rest of the series was instead of what we got, different games with different rules that were just vague enough to find loopholes and "cheat" rather than the clear rules of Duel Monsters that we got with the actual show proper, and if Yugi was just Yami the entire time instead of switching back and forth. Just a parallel I couldn't help but draw in my brain

You should really read the Manhua called "Ravages of Time". Its drawn like a manga. It focuses on one of the most brutal eras in history, the three kingdoms era. The art is fantastic, the mind games and schemes are as complex if not more complex than Usogui's. The storytelling is out of this world and i really like how many things it features. It features social commentary, profound philosophizing, warfare, ancient classical poetry and a lot more.
One of my favorite things about it is that unlike a lot of war forced works is that it's not overly brutal or edgy. I gotta admit, the beginning is very heavy, and has mediocre art and translation, but it gets very good very quickly. I highly recommend it. 🙏

I discovered the series through JJBA in 2017, as Araki is good friends with Toshio, and it quickly cemented itself as of my all-time favourites.
