My father was aging and ailing and needed me there to help him over the last bunch of years before he passed. I had let go of the boat by then and I'm now in Jamaica planning on getting another

Cool story, but I'd like to know more of the practical details such as the cost of renovation, harbour fees, and how he gets his mail etc...and what this man does for a living to be able to make this dream a reality 😀
I know someone who wanted to purchase a boat to live on it and I asked him, will the boat have a shower? He answered: No, but I'm going to get a gym membership for it
Freezing during winter and moisture issues. Damp. Hopefully he thought about winter plumbing as it freezes and you have to wrap your boat basically living in a Saran warp box
@@GK-yi4xv ya just saw that good point - but i think it would be worth it for him to be self sufficient with a few solar panels instead of relying on shore power - he can also get a relay that would use some of his motors alternator power to direct it to his battery bank
Why go on city tv to showcase something that should be a secret? Just live comfortably like a penny pincher and avoid telling people. Why is this even on the news?
When I was a kid I thought it would be cool to live on a boat, like Sonny Crockett from Miami Vice. Kids today must be thinking, it would be cool just to find an affordable apartment when I'm an adult
Realistically, it’s a home on very rough, gross water which then freezes. It’s a home also frozen into a ice cube. This is very common in places like Amsterdam, and southern USA. I do love the idea. Ideally once retired, the guy should boat down south. Who enjoys Toronto during winter?
Canadians are dying from covid, they are suffering from lockdown, they are losing their restaurants, their jobs, their churches and their loves, they are facing skyrocketting food, gas and shelter price. But those corrupted politicians and MPs are working hard day and night to fight for their own salary hike.
Best report I’ve seen all year!
This man is living his dream. Good for him.
finally a good story and no mention of the coof - i love the home and wish him the best - he is living the dream - i love the water
I lived on my boat for 7 years summer and winter. The best seven years of my life
Why quit??

I currently live in a 27ft sloop on the lake, loving it!
I'd argue the railing could pass as his white picket fence.
That's fantastic. Wish him the best
Soon everyone in the housing market will be underwater on their mortgage when the market crashes and this will be the only guy floating.
Good time to buy real estate then
Lake Ontario is a beautiful lake to see while in Toronto. Even if you see the Toronto Islands as well.
Good for him. It’s beautiful.
Well done. This is what it's all about... Don't follow the crowd, live how you want to live!
Omg he's living my dream! Looks awesome! Great job on the reno.
Now every criminal in the city knows the layout and what's inside and where the boat is. Great job..
He probably doesn't port in that exact spot.
We know where you live now also

@John Connor lol!
JC watch out for PTSD.
Legit thought Phil from Modern Family was hosting this for a second
We all talk about it... he actually went for it, good for him
also would it not make sense to anchor somewhere along the shore like off of cherry beach instead of paying the harbor docking fee
Sewage and electricity would be a problem then.
No dock services.
No, since in order to generate electricity he'd have to run a noisy and polluting generator.
Cool story, but I'd like to know more of the practical details such as the cost of renovation, harbour fees, and how he gets his mail etc...and what this man does for a living to be able to make this dream a reality 😀
agreed. Can he move the boat easily?
Have fun in the winter
The sailor park boys.
Right on dude ,!!! Found a steal and went with it !! Gr8 job..

Overtime, condo appreciates thru the roof, his boat rusted in water, however, life is short, good experience though
very very true. Boat is a depreciating asset. I bet ya its not all sunshine and rainbows on a boat either
I have a friend who does this as well.
Probably a silly question but is the boat still operational. Like sea worthy and not just parked at the dock.
It is nice, but for how long it will be in good condition ?
It was made in 1920's and he's restored it... it's gonna be in good condition for quite a while longer
@@BlackHayateTheThird more than 100 years already 😀

All great, wish him the best, one question though? Why do you need 3 bathrooms?
Great story!

"he thought about winter plumbing" - Dude has survived for the past few years. How did he manage without your "expert" advice, I wonder...

Winter time? Doesnt the boat get stuck in ice?

would love to know how he powers everything and recharges his batteries - didnt see a single solar panel

Now everytime i'll go to the Harbourfront, i'll remember this boat and the guy
That is a dream. I've defenitly passed a million times
Never would I park my boat at that harbour. Ever.
How do you get pump outs in the winter
Well done man
Living his best life👏
Awesome! And innovative.
there have been individuals living on boats for years in Toronto harbor! LOL
Nice!!!
That would have been amazıng in the mediterranen but we do live in one of the coldest country .
Toronto winters have become so mild now. Only a handful of days of extreme cold and snowfall.
Try doing that during Winter
Did you miss the part where he says he has been through a few winters already?
Did you miss the part where it says he lives there for 365 days in a year?
Interesting story
Adrian Ghobrial looks like Phil from Modern Family.
Too bad I didn't know about this seven years ago when I moved out of Toronto.....
Good for him🙏
That guy's my hero
Live your dreams to the fullest
👍 Amazing. Good for him
to the fullest would be in the warm climate
What opened his fridge?
It looks really good. I'm down. You can just take anywhere you like. I wonder if he has to pay any type of sort of taxes.
I wonder if he takes that thing out for a spin or if its just permanently sits there
Sick idea I love boats privacy is something I'd give anything for and it looks like nice furnishings good job bro downside is u just started a thing
Does he ever get sea sick?
no because he lives on a lake lol
This guy should host Airbnb on that boat! Would rent for a pretty penny
I could never just never will feel like home 🏡
Is it a functioning boat, or has it been gutted for living space?
I’m gunna go visit him
Yeah it damp it raining it not all it cracked up to be .but but good luck.
Does anyone know what the harbor fees are?
That's a real Canadian. You won't catch him sitting down.

No one is mentioning why housing prices are so expensive in Toronto, people are being driven to live in boats ffs.
I'd like to have seen what condition it was in before all the 'sweat equity'.
Is he planning on moving the boat?
Done that. Good community life.
There is a whole community of boats at Ontario place docks ..should have filmed there to
Her: Do you want to come pick me up or meet at your place
Him: Yes

Yuri, is that you?
The way prices are everywhere, living on a boat is the only way

Where do you get the money for all of this if you don't work
Cool story, indeed! I hope nothing will ever get in the way of him continuing to live his dream!
no idea about it when the lake is frozen.
Man you just created a flood of water hippies that are going to ruin the harborfront
Galloway’s do like boats.
Thats the way to live
I wouldn’t broadcast it across the internet ....
Johnny Strides should knock on his door and ask for a tour
He probably paid $3million for that fixer-upper. Then put in $4 million of renovations.
Best part is that he can leave Toronto anytime
At first glance I thought he was Rainn Wilson
