I've watched several of your videos and this Trawler is definitely the best pick of the lot. A steel hulled craft this well built and cared for is rare for the price they're asking.
Bargain, you can buy a boat that is newer and better than this for 165K. No way in hell I would spend 160k and have to spend another 10k per year for the crap that is going to break on a 70 year old boat.
For the money, that is a good buy! One thing I didn't notice is whether it has A/C or not? One would think that would be important in a place like Florida. That said, this would be a great boat for the Pacific NW. Steel hulls are the thing to have if you're going to do the Inside Passage or the Puget Sound area where there are logs in the water, or in the case of the Inside Passage where I live, there are glaciers you can visit but there are small ice bergs in the water.
This is exactly what I want in a couple of years. It’s absolutely perfect for my needs. This is a boat that you could operate for several years and sell for 90 % of what you paid. Extremely economical!
Lovely craftsmanship, looks like a great Looper boat. Noticed that they used an Atlantic Towers tower-in-a-box arch to support the aft end of the hard bimini. Pretty clever. Looks like a similar sized Back Cove downeaster is docked next door. By comparison, that of the same vintage would sell for around $750K, so you're right, this one is a relative bargain.
Now that’s a nice one. Looks beautiful. And as all metal boats all fitting should be welded. Bolting the deck fittings on a metal boat is as oxymoron. That Perkins is an excellent engine. Will go easily for 15-25000 hrs treated well. I’ve had them do it!
Such a nice boat, and the price is stunning. But, I think it might only be for really seasoned sailors. One small engine, 40 feet long, no thrusters to help you maneuver. I am not complaining, mind you, I just think it might not be a great choice for a newby. But for someone that knows the ropes, it is a beauty.
I was First LT on a WWII LST from 1959-61. When I saw the beautiful white paint--and especially the safety rails, I had a flashback to the hours of watching my crew chip and red lead and paint. The white is so nautical and beautiful, but what a project to keep a white steel hull and fittings un rusty. It's very unique and the interior is beautiful. I was looking for a ladder from the flybridge to the salon, but no. Not fun in weather. That said, if I were a cruiser-----------------yum.
The paint issue is to be thought over for sure ! I think a good Epoxy based (white) primer and an Epoxy based glossy WHITE paint with Blue and Red accent stripes on everything !
I absolutely love the trawler and tug look. Especially if you can get ahold of a good conversersion of 1. They just feel much more secure in many ways. The only thing I don't care about is the color on the hull.
If I actually travelled, I'd love that beast. I got lucky and found a 46' Silverton aft cabin for a song and for summers on the lake, it's awesome. Definitely not in the caliber of this vessel. But she's a good home on the water. I grew up on the salt and all I miss is the smell, lol!!
Solid boat but kinda not what I was expecting for the interior. ICW cruiser made of steel? don't have to worry about hitting logs! I didn't see any blown closed cell foam in the engine space. I'd be wary of a steel boat of this age without proper interior hull insulation. Condensation will rust a beautiful looking steel boat from the inside out.
@@Davidcallard a green ceramic primer that will permanently prevent corrosion and mold. Plus it is fire resistant to 1000 degrees f. It bonds to steel. Used by Chevron and BP. Made in NC. I play golf with the owner and founder
A lot of boat for the money, usually when you purchase these boats, you need to spend $50+ on updating and maintenance to make it more safe and usable. If I had to guess you probably wouldn’t need to do that on this. Even a Carver 10 years older of the same size would be twice the price. Only negatives are only one engine, I don’t know anyone with two engines who hasn’t lost the use of one of them at some point. Maybe worth adding an outboard get-home. Also electronic instruments now 10 years old with heavy icw use and they won’t be cheap to replace probably in the region of $15 to $20 K if you have it done professionally, maybe less if you can keep the old radar.
Thank you for letting us see this cute boat. I would love to wake up each morning and see the sun coming up with a cup of strong black coffee iny hand and a fishing pole in my other hand. One day i hope i don't have to use my wheelchair and get my legs back so i can walk. This is keeping me from getting a home on the water. When I do tho, the fish better hide and they will be trembling when they hear my name. I was once called a fish magnet because I out fished everyone else that went fishing with us 95% of the time. Yes it can be sad for others to catch small perch size of a child's hand, then i catch catfish over 3 foot or bigger than 36 inch fish. Tip for keeping live bait fresh and alive, we used the inside metal tubs from a washing machine from a laundry mat because those huge tubs have thick walls with round holes and we weld a metal lid on top with a good thick door that can be locked by a big brass padlock. Plus we welded on eye hooks so we could secure it to dock or tree. We never lost it, not even during the floods we had. The bigger the tub the more fish it can hold. Im not sure what salt water will do to those metal tubs in salt water tho. But they do great job in fresh water.
I didn't see any doors on any cabins, or the head unless there was a pocket door. That kinda limits it to a single, couple, or a couple with small children that don't need privacy. It's a nice boat for sure, but it has a lot of space that could be used better for occasional guests. I looked on the website and didn't see any bow thruster which would be great for a loop boat. I didn't see any info about draft, or air draft, or fuel and water tankage. The listing on the website is missing some important information. Since the owner previously did the Loop, at least we know it can make it through the shallow spots and low bridges.
For the ammo can organizer one in the car would be great one can first aid one can emergency blankets and small tarps one for a fire kit and one for emergency food and snacks
I know that I am singular in this but I do not like the interior design. Reminds me of the internals on a motor home. I would have to remodel it straightaway.
I love fishing trawlers, most likely these or a nordic tug are what I would go with. Nothing fancy but can still be a nice outing yacht and workhorse when needed. This one regardless of price is quite unique. Colors seem quite dated and more set in 70s-80s style. Took me twice to realize she was built in 2013! Also for that price the engines better have low hours and the hull better be in great shape. Alot of abuse can happen from 10 years. Would definitely look for better values out there than this one. Plus I live in the Great Lakes so most likely this hasn't seen fresh water.
A couple issues, number 1 is going to be insurance, since this is a home built? Might be an issue. Clearly built with love and care, but glaring issues, the ladder to the "Flying Bridge" is too steep and is going to be a non starter for many, could have easily avoided by leaning it into the bedroom where there is space to spare. Next is the lack of hand holds, especially going down to the galley. Try that in a seaway, youd have to crawl, dangerous and shows the lack of seagoing experience of the highly talented builder. Also lack of grab rails in the spacious salon. Space is dangerous. No helm seat at the lower helm! This is where you will be in rough weather and tire easily if you have to stand. Also grab rails again missing.
safe would be if it had a toe rail... you can easily go under than rail and into the drink in rough weather. Why is the Air Draft left off the dimensions?
I've watched several of your videos and this Trawler is definitely the best pick of the lot. A steel hulled craft this well built and cared for is rare for the price they're asking.
Wow! I saw this trawler out in Sarasota Bay, absolutely stunning.
What a cute little bargain of a boat. Perfect for a older couple who is ready to live on the water and enjoy life.
The fly bridge is an accident waiting to happen. Especially for older crew
@@chevy4x466 Not the entire fly bridge, just the ladder. Buying a boat for only $150k, you have some money left over to modify some stairs.
@@zedwpd simple concept. I have to admit, I never considered it. U r right, just make the stairs safer, u have a perfect boat

What a lovely boat. It has such a comfortable look and feel about it. It’s just asking for an appreciative owner.
What a classic beauty. Perfect for a liveaboard or either version of The Loop. Vid was very nicely done...kudos.

It would be a nice lil on water condo for weekend getaways. I'd love this for the Bahamas.
It’s nice to see a well designed boat that’s easy to maintain but most importantly fit for purpose

Great looking boat to do the Loop. Thx for the tour. Good price point.
One thing though - shame about the cabin layout. It really is a couples boat since the spare beds/bunks can’t be closed off from the galley.

Retired and have a lil money would love a houseboat even if it never left the slip
I wish I could afford this trawler... looks like a beautiful ship!
No, she's ugly. The flybridge is totaly wrong for the line of the ship. That said, sometimes ugly is beauty, and for this money this ship is gorgeous.
Wanna go half on it i keep it 11 months u get 1
Is this vessel still for sale ?
American Yachts has way too many boats for sale to find this one on your website .
Thanks
Also a first class commentary and filming.
Probably one of my favorites. Love it, great review.

Great looking small trawler. It is a pity is only single engine and there is no room to make it twin engine and add more tankage.
The worlds Commerical fishing fleet is for the most part powered by a single engine, fear not my friend, one motor will get you there and back..
