  • Radiolink RC8X issues you need to know!
Update 6/19/23, new firmware update from radiolink 1.1.5, please read comment section for what changes to my RC8X.
Update: read the comment section from Radiolink, they explain some issues regarding blind spot and Fhss protocol selection, information might answer some of the issues i discovered.
    "Binding is not the issue".
This will be my personal experience with the RC8X, I did a latency test video if you want to check it out link will be in this video, this might "not" be an issue to all RC8X unit circulating around the marketplace, I just sharing what I have gone thru with my personal unit. I would very disappointing if you drive all the way to a location and found out you can't successfully bind to your pre-bind car or Lose connection while tuning your valuable RC (example you are approaching your Arrma 8s infraction after a speed run, you are about lay down your radio too close to the rc which still running, then you have the risk of losing connection between radio and receiver).
Binding to the receiver is not the issue, the problem happens when the radio less than 10 inch away from the receiver, I experience signal drop and unsuccessful connection, my Radio link have a blind spot.
I not saying don't buy RC8X, just be careful, test it first, and check.
I am hoping that I will not fine another issue after publishing this video, this will surely extremely disappointing.
Thank you, guys, for watching and I really appreciate your support.

Hi, sir. This is after-sales of RadioLink products. Thank you for your support. Here you mentioned 2 problems of RC8X. We are pleased to provide more details for you, so you can better know what happened. 1. The first problem is caused by signal block. RC8X comes with RadioLink R8FG receive, with two antennas. There is signal amplification in R8FG, so too close distance between the tranamitter and receiver will cause signal block even though the binding is finished. If the transmitter and R8FG receiver are too close, it is easy to cause signal block, and the binding cannot be successful. After the binding is successful, if transmitter and R8FG receiver are too close (for example, within 50 centimeters), the signal may be lost. Bring the transmitter and R8FG receiver farther apart, the signal loss will disappear automatically. So please do not keep R8FG receiver and transmitter too close when binding or operating the model. Sorry we did not let more people know about it. Actually we are planning take some tutorials on "signal block". Here is the video tutorial for your reference: ruclips.net/video/0hWwRhiDdZE/видео.html Hope it will be helpful for you to know what happened.

And the second problem is because of different receiver protocol. There are FHSS V1 and V2 protocol in receiver setting. PWM output resolution of FHSS V1 is 2048, and the resolution of V2 is 4096. V2 can achieve a more precise operation.
You can click "Receiver List" to check whether the receiver belongs to V1 or V2 protocol. FHSS V1 Receiver list includes receivers such as R8FG V1.0, R7FG, R6FG, and so on. V2 Receiver list only includes R8FG V2.0. So If you are binding R8FG to RC8X, check what version is your R8FG. R8FG V1.0 (with production date before Feb. 6, 2023) supports FHSS V1 protocol, not V2; R8FG V2.0 (with production date on or after Feb. 6, 2023) supports both V1 and V2 protocol. If protocol of R8FG is selected incorrectly, some functions will not work properly. If you are binding R7FG, R6FG or any other model receivers to RC8X, Select FHSS V1. If the protocol of these receivers is selected incorrectly, there will be no binding. So please make sure you check the "Receiver List" and then choose the right protocol, so that your receiver can work well with RC8X. Here is a video tutorial for you: ruclips.net/video/6dypWw92mWY/видео.html And here is the detailed manual of RC8X for your reference: www.radiolink.com/rc8x_manual If any question when using RadioLink products please feel free to contact us. Hello thanks for you feedback 😊, all 4 radiolink receivers i have, don’t have problem binding, only losing connection when the radio closer to the receiver (less than 10 inch or so), earlier i didn’t know radiolink have a blind spot, either my rc8x is very close to the receiver antenna, making the signal fluctuates, servo function some what twitchy and connection unstable, i had never had any problem (with blind spot at close range) with other cheaper radio and also with my flysky and sanwa radio, for me it is very risky to lose connection, like what happen to my kyosho USA-1 while i am setting it up 2 nights ago, lucky i grab it in time before it hit the wall of my room (with very minor scrape in my arm). To sum it all up, just as long my radiolink is far away from the receiver by a foot or so, it should be working fine. But it should be this way.

I don’t want to sound like a broken record, found another issue with my RC8x, don’t leave your battery inside, it will drain it to zero, it happen several times, this February 2024 i test the enveloop battery voltage and surprisingly it reads 0 volt in 2 weeks or even less, even the unit turn OFF, it consume 0.05a, it’s estimated consumes roughly 50 milliampere per hour, if you are using lipo battery it will damage the battery(if you plan not to use it for a long time). Maybe future firmware update will solved this or not.
And the new receiver R8FG version 2.1 channel one not working (nothing), very weird so i use 3rd channel for steering, what such luck 😬.

Sorry to hear you having issues too, antenna placement is very important or placing the radio more 60cm away might solved the problem, i hope radiolink release new receivers smaller single antenna or none version 2.1 ( with faster protocol) intended for indoor 1/10 scale cars might be less sensitive to signal block, Radiolink have the newer micro receiver now for 1/28 to 1/24 scale but might be less range for 1/10 scale, i do love the affordable price of the radiolink receiver but i decided to use it for my crawlers and slower cars, it is sad for me rc8x is a great looking and awesome features radio but I barely use it.

Update 6/19/2023: New Firmware 1.1.5 with the newest R8FG V 2.1, big improvement signal block range, now it can easily connect to my RC even less than a foot range(antenna place away from the RC8X), but sometimes it varies (time of day, location operation maybe less congested and changing from different cars), to me it’s still unpredictable and unreliable but getting better, but with Radiolink frequent firmware update they might able to improved issues very soon, switching different RC from v1 to v2 receiver setting still need to be confirmed or else it will not connect successfully, turning on the esc still glitching using Hobbywing XR10 speed control. I will try to upload a video soon.

It could be the reviver or transmitter
I just got mine and a heap of receivers for my rc cars
I rc drag race also and many are using them no issues doing well
Perhaps because the receiver and your transmitter are to close as the receiver you are using is for a very long range
Tuning is through the transmitter rc is off at the time
Must be a setting on your transmitter that is not right and if you have updated from 2.0 they have major issues and manufacturers need to fix that asap

Thanks for the info, you are correct the receiver that is included design for longer range or large scale rc, I usually have 1/10 scale touring, drift, radiolink need to come out with a smaller receiver good for indoor and smaller scale rc, they have for now the r8fg v 2.1 and micro size receiver with a faster latency, the version 1.0 like r4fg or older models are for 1/10 scale but slower latency, most of my group leave the radio on using the rc set up bench require your radio to be on to correct our steering alignments, cambers, toe and esc boost, timing, curves and calibrations (most offen Drift and touring), and (indoor race) participants are close together using the indoor pit table, and official video radiolink rc8x already informed that signal block does happen with this model. And thank you for letting me know they have new 1.2.5 firmware update available.

This is an old video and anyone watching should know these problems have been addressed in firmware updates. If you have this radio, you can easily download the updates. Also, no offense to Oliver but most of these issues can be attributed to user error or inexperience with a computer radio of this design. Overall, great radio for the price. I've heard of others complaining about this radio (range and battery life being the biggest ones) but mine has run virtually problem free. It can be a steep learning curve for sure (wouldn't recommend it to beginners) but there are many videos out on this radio including several from Radiolink. And, while their customer service can be crap at times, they've made a much better effort to be responsive to customer questions or complaints (make sure to subscribe to Radiolink's RUclips page!). Considering the hundreds of dollars I saved over a radio like the Sanwa M17 or Futaba 10 PX/PXR (I'm a bit of a Futaba fan boy), I'm pretty happy with my RC8X. I would caution beginners but once you master this radio, you'll love it!

RC8x is a ok radio with several setbacks for me, customer service of radiolink is awesome, but the issue is the older internal transmitter/receiver protocol , to be honest barely anyone talking about it, I am happy you like your radio, good for you 👍🏻. Guys, ....well first of all, i have been a BIG pusher of radiolink stuff, i am using it on almost everything...also flysky. 20 cars = 19 radiolink. ANYWAYS, ive had THEE weirdest things ive ever experienced in electronics in my entire life. I wont get into my background much, but i am an excellent troubleshooter if im nothing else. Soooo, heres the list of specific issues "that i can remember there has been many". No matter what you do "firmware, reset, etc" every model saved on a specific radio, will run or glitch any powered on models, minor but dumb, ive had certain model slots glitch or not keep a saved item. Then when trying a diff slot in the same radio ...problem solved "but no explanation". 7ch RX had several show up D.O.A.. OBVIOUSLY if youve had these ever...you know that the receivers break open immedietly after touching them. I have MANY receivers that just decided to have half the range or worse than they were out of the box.. lately uve been doing firmware updates......and OMFG ive had a couple go perfectly, then there are the rest.
