Been looking forward to see what you'd do with the new hinges. Looks good! Nice smooth-looking and streamlined pivot point. Can't wait to see where you take it next. Maybe revisit some older builds and replace the rotors with hinges? All the best Black. Nice to have you back in the game.
Hi Brad, thanks. Hinges are a great block to have. I won't go back and change older builds that work fine just to use hinges, but I'm sure I'll use them plenty in the future.
You are the first RUclipsr i had in mind when i saw the new hinges. I wonder how much the sentinal arms behave with hinges. Maybe this could be a second era of mechenial arms. More stabile, more precise and more usefull. What is you oppinion to these thoughts?
The sentinel arms would act better with hinges because they have more torque. I don't want to have to rebuild it for that though. So far the hinges have been useful
The first thing i saw after uploading stuff to the work shop. I was like hot daymn. Looked at the kid level stuff i made. Shook my head. Cool stuff. I like it
Have you ever considered making a mech with landing legs in the feet to get better traction? I'm sure it would add a whole new level of complexity to get working, but it would allow the walker to operate in many more situations and on steeper terrain. It would even be able to operate in zero-g by latching onto hulls.
I have done it and it works, but it makes things more rigid and it's hard to turn. I generally don't like the look of landing gear so the feet have to be big enough that I can hide them
If you want faster timers without a script (compatible with experimental mode and Xbox) make a rotor with a block on it set to 60 rpm and have a sensor to detect the corner, then you get a 0.25 second timer.
That's a neat trick. Seems that sensors can now have detection ranges smaller than 1 meter, which wasn't allowed in the past. Although, I use 6 timers for walking, so I'd need 6 spinny blocks to run it.
BlackArmor suppose you had a block on a rotor, and placed a half block on each face of it. Then you’d have eight corners protruding and I you can set the sensor up right you get a 0.125 second timer. Set the timers to turn each other on and off in sequence and you can use that single rotor for all of the timers.
this is really cool, i've been watching your videos for some time now and you always make something really amazing! i wonder if you could make a hip sistem for your next walker design (you know like the AT-ST where the hip keeps the main cockpit from making that vertical side to side movement)
So, a walking throne with a machine gun to dispose of pesky heretics, and can also fly to bypass those annoying traffic jams? Shaddup and take my money!
I was wondering when you'd start having some fun with the hinges, awesome walker man! Once I get done with the few large projects, expect some competition lol. Keep kicking ass and chewing bubblegum.
My suggestion for this design, replace the block at the toe with a wheel block to increase friction and increase speed. those feet slide around a lot. but otherwise great job, I cant code for shit so take my advice with a grain of salt.
u are an incredible builder just really wish there was tutorials on how u built them as a newbie it is very hard to understand how certain builds work or target
I think it would walk better if you took hips movements in count. Like separating the main body in 2( vertically) and a bit higher than the point of insertion of the legs . Once you have split de body in half you could place a rotor in the center, which would allow a more natural motion . But I don't know myself how to configure the rotor 😅( set it as the upper part don't turn abd the lower part turn 🤔) anyway cool machine 😁
I agree. Being small and rigid causes it to look bouncy. The reverse knee design contributes to that as well, but gives good clearance. You should've seen the first iterations :)
I think you can make it less wobbly if you ditch the dumb star wars leg design and go for something more practical. What I mean its knees and the "reverse" one should be lower *since thats actually the heel. But I reckon you might have done that for aesthetic reasons. Anyways good looking building.
Ah the tech priest has returned
Indeed
Finally
Wow, it's incredibly stable

I wonder what a walking mobile base would look like. Say, bigger than a Scarab from Halo
I helped someone make one that ended up looking like a huge ant. All large block
Finally a proper walker that is small and not huge
Welcome back! Love your videos.
Thanks Jeremy
A server but it’s only mechs
Bruh Boi I would join that in an instant
mech wars
GateKeeper heck yeah
Legs look so much better with hinges
imagine having these roaming the landscape!
The king of bipeds.
This is really cool. Nice build my dude.
Thanks dude!
Another clean production, nice work man!
Thanks Nick
Definitely hoping to see some more badass hinge builds
Amazing work as always, and a good start for the possibilities of hinges. Looking forward to seeing what else they can do too.
Fantastic work as usual.
Thanks
Rotors incorporated in legs would allow for turning. Love the design.
You can turn with the mouse

the real challenge now is to make it RUN!
....but it can fly.
I did try to get it going a bit faster but the feet couldn't grip and I'm not about to use wheel suspensions on those tiny legs.
no, the real challenge is to move around in steep slope)
Black have a point there XD
This is great
*glazes over to papples flying machine gun chair*

In combat situations obviously
cool mech - good job
Nice work.. Hope for new walkers in SE
Now it’s time to build an ATAT walker
Hey BlackArmor, can you make a step by step guide on how to make something relatively close to human legs in space engineers?
best I've done is the Jaeger and that was trial and error
Love the new parts. I can finally make a proper VTOL space craft

Clever, but my timers have different delays, which is the limitation of that method
At St or At Rt time bois , a scaled up version might work for a at at
A weapon to surpass Metal Gear? Sahelanthropus?!
You liking the official hinge blocks aren't you 😄
You are legendary man
Gracias

The way it sounds when it walks,

Hey thanks! It would take some work but could be done.
Is it possible to make a hip that allows the leg to move outward so it can turn and balance without a gyroscope automatically?
You can if you want to make it harder on yourself
@@BlackArmor718 I see

Shaddup and take my money!
I think the pistons is what I'm missing on my own Walker probably lol
Nice, how about using landing gear for feet? timer blocks to turn on/off the gear for grip? Just an idea.
I generally don't like the way landing gear look. Might work but could be clunky
Slap on some mag plates to the feet amd some ion or h2 thrusters, and you have a space mech
Thats cool
Oh, so nice!
Very nice looking have you tried use three gyros two with pitch overdrives on the opposite sides?
Smooth ride....*BLARF*
What is the timing walk cycle of your mech I would like to make my own but my mechs always blow out thier ankle on the first step

Amazing...
Use landing pads as feet! Lock them with each step, so it doesn't slide.

Noooooooooo mods

Pretty sure scripts and Xbox are not friends

This was thanks to the hinges. Huh?
Sooo, AT AT next? :D
Ah man plz
Make a tutorial of this one I started to play this game 4 days ago I can’t stop lol
Is damage turned off?
Edit: nope guess not, I saw your guns did damage, how do you do it?
It's a very light walker, there's not enough weight to break anything
@@BlackArmor718 that makes sense, I use large grids to make walkers

Friction is the problem
I’ve made one that runs at an average of 10m/s but it creates potholes wherever it steps

Hi
Hi
How about using scripts for mechs?)
Timers make more sense to me
go hexapod!)
I am lacking in those for sure
Too slow, it is not good for reconnaissance, but also not for combat. The idea is good.
Give him some credit, first creation he’s shown of him using hinges, so of course its not gonna be his best, will most likely improve tenfold
I think it's mostly called a scout because it's smol :P
This is one of the smallest walkers I've made and it's just a fun build to see the use of hinges. Plus flying kinda negates your speed argument.
